Today we moved to another site. Ours is booked for the long
weekend.
We are now on a seasonal site just across the field.
Showing off my cooking skills!
Friday May 17, 2013
Our new yard.
Not much grass, but at least we do not have to
move again until we leave.
The RV park has some cool three and four wheels bike for rent.
Not at a bad price either, $3 for one hour.
Saturday May 18, 2013
The view from our site.
Jay has a problem with the pump for his toilette. We were going
to
check the electrical side of it. Darn, my meter died on me.
Look at Maya just roasting in the sun.
Baily, Delima's son, playing with his new friends. He is the one
with the black tee-shirt and shorts.
Jay and Delima's site.
The RV park has a wine and cheese to celebrate the 2013 season.
It is also the 10th year Jannie and Jan own the RV park.
It is quite a spread they put on.
We finish the evening at the campfire with Jay and Delima.
Sunday May 19, 2013
I am just about to go for a bike ride when I realize my rear tire is
flat.
I replace the old tube with a new one and put some goo to fix future
punctures.
Getting ready for the evening.
Nice fire.
Jay invited the neighbor to the fire. They are from the Netherlands.
We have a very interesting conversation with them. A very good
evening.
Monday May 20, 2013
Spaghetti night!
I am cooking outside because it is too warm to cook inside.
This was another great weekend.
Tuesday May 21, 2013
Time to go in town and buy some more food...
As we are driving out of the RV park, we see this little turtle
crossing the road.
We stop and I help him to the other side of the road.
On our way for groceries, we stopped at our "home" to pick up the mail!
By late afternoon, storms are moving to the north of us, but we did get
a heavy downpour for about 15 minutes.
Since we have no grass on part of our site, we end up with some muddy
water.
We cooked some nice salmon for dinner.
Michèle is reading all evening and me, I work on the next update for
the web page.
Wednesday May 22, 2013
Cloudy skies, but no more rain for today. I am starting drying
and
packing stuff in preparation for our departure Monday morning.
Most of the day, I read and surfed the web.
Thursday May 23, 2013
Jay has offered us a tour of the
Highline
Mushroom farm where he is the general manager.
The farm is located in Prince Edward County, near the small town of
Wellington. It is about 15 minutes from our RV park.
Jay is giving us a complete tour of the farm, from the creation of the
substrate to the harvest of the mushroom.
I could try to tell you about all the steps, but the Highline web site
has a virtual tour that does a much better job explaining the whole
processes than I could.
Click here for the virtual tour.
We still took a few photos of our visit...
The arrows indicate the two doors for a growing room.
The next few photos are from different growing rooms. Each rooms
are started at about a day apart. One of the photo is of brown
mushrooms.
Packaging is done at the farm.
I was very surprised at the small amount of "new" fresh water required
at the farm. They recycle all the water, even using rain water
as much as possible. In this photo, to the right of the straw
bales, you can see one of the five natural filtration pond used by the
farm.
We are treated to a box of brown mushrooms after our tour.
Jay is very passionate about mushrooms and the farm in general.
Me and Michèle also notice the good relationship between the employee
and Jay.
Thank you very much Jay for a fantastic visit
Back home, I continue the cleaning and drying of "stuff" around the
motorhome.
By late afternoon, the wind picked up and the temperature dropped
quickly.
Not very warm for cooking outside.
Another very good day, specially with the visit of the mushroom farm.
Friday May 24, 2013
This morning we are back in Toronto visiting Odette for the last time
this year.
Onyx and Alix are working so they were not with us when we went for
lunch with Odette.
Bye Odette, Onyx and Alix, see you in 2014.
Saturday May 25, 2013
We are garages saleing this morning.
Most of our purchases are for our grandson Gabriel.
I am just about done with all the drying and putting away stuff for
Monday morning.
This weekend, the transient part of the RV park is full. They are
all from the same group and they have all kinds of games. This
one is bean bag/baseball.
Most of the afternoon is spent reading outside, or inside for Michèle...
We skyped with our youngest son, Benoit.
Once again, when the sun come down, it cools off quickly.
A good day.
Sunday May 26, 2013
Our last day in Carrying Place. We decide to prep the access to
the engine for the mechanic. This means we take most of the
screws
out of the bed base and on the engine cover underneath the bed.
We have an appointment with a mechanic on Tuesday morning to replace
the exhaust manifold on the engine. Why pay the mechanic to
remove all the screws.
It is a little warmer today, we have a campfire and read outside.
The wind is still blowing and we play musical chair with the smoke.
Monday May 27, 2013
Today, we are going to my brother's place in Prévost, Québec.
First, we have to leave the motorhome at the Walmart in Belleville
because of our appointment with the doctor for our blood work results.
The doctor is happy with our results. We hook-up the car to the
motorhome and we head to Prévost. Prévost is a small town north
of Montréal.
Highway 401 in Ontario.
I like to take the 1000 Island Parkway when we travel to and from
Montréal. It is a scenic byway that runs parallel to the
401 and the St-Lawrence river. It only adds 2 minutes to the
travel time, but is so
pretty...
Back on the 401, we hit a few constructions zone, but no real delay.
We are trying a new route my brother recommended, we will skip going
through
Montréal.
Just before we hit the province of Québec, we turn north towards
Hawkesbury and cross over to Québec, take highway 50 East to highway
and then the 15 north to Prévost.
At my brother's place, we camp across the road in the flea market
parking lot.
Once installed we go to my brother's place and have a few beers.
Tomorrow morning we have to be at the garage for 8 am.
Tuesday May 28, 2013
Our home in the parking lot with my brother's house behind the
motorhome.
Garage "Camion M.R." for the replacement of the exhaust manifold.
It was recommended by my brother because one of his top students work
here.
Within a few minutes we had the mattress, the bed base and the engine
cover removed for the mechanic.
The view of the engine from our bedroom.
Jérome, our mechanic, is a very patient person. He works very
well and does not waste time.
The black hole you see is the broken part, on the right, it is on the
floor.
The old exhaust manifold.
The new one.
The motorhome has to stay at the garage for the night because one part
will arrive
tomorrow morning.
Surprise for Rolland and Suzie, we are staying at there place tonight!
Tomorrow morning everything should be done on the motorhome and we will
be going to Michèle's brother, Patrice, for a few days.
Wednesday May 29, 2013
After a good night of sleep at my brother's place, we drive to "Garage
M.R.".
By eleven the repair is done. We are back on the road heading to
Berthierville. We are right into a construction zone, concrete
wall and orange cones.
Some 100 km later we arrive in Berthierville.
Patrice is living some 5 km south of Berthierville.
Catherine and Valérie are cooking some chocolate chips cookies.
Hummm!
We are very happy to be with Patrice and Manon family.
We are also very happy with the repair of our exhaust manifold.
Thursday May 30, 2013
After a good breakfast, we go for a 10 km bike ride.
It is very warm today, but we are keeping hydrated and in the shade for
our health!!!
This evening, we are playing some very good games, this one is called
"Bang", a
cowboy game.
We had a lot of fun!
Friday May 31, 2013
Darn! We cannot use Patrice's camper for the next few days.
A
buyer is coming to check it out this weekend.
No problems, we take the motorhome to the RV Park "Lac Lafontaine" in
St-Jérome.
Manon wishing us a good trip.
The roads are very good, even with the construction and some light rain.
Once installed, I have to clean up the place a little bit.
My plan is to spend the afternoon working on our next update for the
web page.
When we looked in the fridge, we realize we have no food. First,
we
have to wash the car.
Next stop, Costco for some beer and then to IGA for some food.
By 4 pm we are back home and I have not touched the web page!
Rolland and Suzie invite us for a few beer and diner.
We leave Rolland's place by 9 pm to pick up Benoit
at the Laval Metro station.
Benoit is spending the weekend with us.
Back home, we have a lot
of catching up to do
Some crazy photo of the two of us in the motorhome!!!
It is very good to have Benoit with us.
Until next time.
Life is good...
