Tuesday July 16, 2013
We have a laid-back morning.
Gabriel gets exited watching cartoons and falls on his back.
We all leave before lunch, we get dropped off at Julie's place to pick
up Julie's car and Danielle, Jérémy and Gabriel continue on for a
medical appointment for Gabriel.
We have lunch at A&W, then we go for the grand opening of Target.
We are all back home and it is hot and humid.
Gabriel, like a real man, has control of the remote.
Running after the ball.
We play pick-a-boo and soon after, it is Gabriel who does the
pick-a-boo.
We had a great time, we had a great deal of laughter!
Disaster strikes, Gabriel falls on his back on the pavement and a
little rock does some damage...
It is so warm, we spend the evening outside and watch the nice sunset.
We had a good week!
Wednesday July 17, 2013
Danielle, looking pretty, on her way with Michèle for some shopping.
Myself, I do some pool time with Gabriel.
With pool time over, we continue playing outside.
Musician at work.
Jérémy is back from work, we chat a little before diner.
Another great day, tomorrow we are leaving for Regina.
Thursday July 18, 2013
Jérémy leaving to work, we say our "goodbyes" now because we leave
this morning.
We enjoy Gabriel and Danielle as much as we can before we leave.
Shoot! We forgot to take some photos of Danielle and Gabriel when
they dropped us off at the airport.
Our plane coming in.
Ready to leave!
One last look at the Comox base. We do not know if we are ever
coming back this way.
Jérémy and his family are moving to Moose Jaw this summer.
We leave Vancouver island behind us and fly over the Canadian Rockies.
The beginning of the prairies.
We have a few hours lay-over in Calgary before we continue to
Regina.
Once in Regina and have our car, we drive through Regina to get to our
motel
for the night.
Our "home" for the night.
Our plan for tomorrow is to do some shopping in the morning and then
drive to Moose Jaw to pick up our motorhome and get set up at our
campground.
Friday July 19, 2013
It turns out we do very little chopping. I think we are anxious
to
get in our "stuff".
A dinosaur with some pretty flowers.
More flowers, we are still in Regina.
Many people put little stickers on the back of the
car to show their family .
This is the first time we see one like this one, pretty cute.
The canola is coming up good.
Can you see our home?
We have had some issues with our fridge lately. It is cooling
good
on electricity and not at all on propane.
I ask BJ, the RV mechanic, if he can have a quick look.
BJ spends almost an hour looking and researching the problem, the
result is, our fridge is on its way out, as in almost done.
As long as it works on electricity, we will keep it.
After the hour, I asked BJ how much for his trouble and he replies "Oh,
nothing".
I still give him a little something. What a nice guy!
We are back on the road, heading to our next home...
Our site, more photos in a few days.
We already miss Danielle, Gabriel and Jérémy.
Saturday July 20, 2013
Before we left for Comox, we had to empty our fridge, now we have to
shop to fill it back up again.
Here I am cooking my breakfast sausages for the next few weeks.
Michèle catching up on her beauty sleep, I believe we both have some
catching up
on sleep to do.
It was worth it!
As nice surprise, Robbyn and Tim, from Cold Lake, dropped by on their
way to Manitoba.
It is fun to see them again. We had a lot of catching up to do.
Sunday July 21, 2013
Nothing special today
I had a great night of sleep, I must be caught up now!
This morning we drove around Moose Jaw to check things out.
After lunch, I get a much needed haircut.
An evening watching TV.
Monday July 22, 2013
More shopping, I spent a few hours looking for parts to fix my bike
rack.
What a story about looking for parts.
First off, no Home Depot or
Rona here in Moose Jaw, no problems.
Off I go to the local
hardware stores. Well, most of them have never heard of the part
I
need and after visiting 4 different hardware stores, I finally found
one
that had the parts.
It is very expensive here in Moose Jaw.
By the way, the parts I needed were just four "T" fitting and one union
3/4 inch. They are the gray parts in the photo.
Tuesday July 23, 2013
This morning, I have an appointment with the chiropractor, I need some
adjustment on my lower back and neck. Isn't it funny how we do
not hesitate to spend money for our car, but hesitate for our body!
The rest of the morning is spent reading.
After lunch, Michèle and me are off for a bike ride on the trails in
the park.
We can see the motorhome on the other side of the river.
The bridge we took and our campground is on the other side of the river.
Another view of the river. The campground is on the left.
A nice house next to the park
We read for the rest of the afternoon. I am in the shade and
Michèle in the sun with her sunglasses...
Pretty!
BBQ chicken for diner. The chef hard at work!
We are getting back into our routine.
Wednesday July 24, 2013
Out for a bike ride in Moose Jaw this morning.
Moose Jaw is a pretty big hub for the CPR (Canadian Pacific
Railway). It is also a place for maintenance on the locomotives.
I am on the 9th Ave. SW looking east.
Now looking west.
Our RV park, River Park Campground in Wakamow park. We are really
close to the Moose Jaw downtown.
The full service section of the park, we are the last one on the
right. We are nose-in vice tail in because we wanted to enjoy the
green field and not the back of our neighbor.
Looking from the bush.
A view from the field.
Now is our view from the motorhome.
The park is OK, a little tight, but with only two RV park in Moose Jaw,
this is the best...
Cooking some bacon for the next few breakfast.
Working on this web page.
After working so hard, I need to relax in the shade with a good book.
Thursday to Saturday July 25 to the 27,2013
Thursday was an easy day, biking, reading and a few yard sales in the
evening.
Friday, we went out for a big grocery shopping and finish off the
afternoon with more yard sales.
Our diner for tonight.
Saturday, Michele is out again for yard sales, myself, went for a bike
ride on the south side of Moose Jaw
Ending the afternoon with some reading.
The weather is kind of weird, very cool in the shade and to hot in the
sun!
Sunday July 28, 2013
The weather forecaster said rain for most of the day.
Reality is, rain at lunchtime, thirty minutes and again at seven PM
for another fifteen minutes.
This is the first rain...
Right after lunch, I wash the motorhome, it really needs it...
After washing the motorhome and the car, time for a cold beer and a
good book.
Monday July 29, 2013
First thing I did this morning is to return my empties. I am now
rich! Or I am drinking too much! Hum!
Next stop is at the photo shop and ask if my lens on my Canon Rebel
camera can be fixed.
The answer is not what I wanted, $200 to fix or get a new one for
$250. I will have to think about other options.
We have lunch at the little burger joint in the park. For only
$1.99 you get a mushroom burger. It is good, but no more then
that.
So it is with belly full that we decide to tackle the bedroom
curtains. We want to change our horizontal blinds for some
"blackout" curtains. This will take care of the cardboard we put
in our windows at night to make it dark.
First is my side with the "frame" and without.
Now it is Michèle side with the frame and without.
The frames are waiting to be cleaned and re-installed.
With the measurement in our pocket, we have to shop for curtains now.
First stop is the Salvation Army where we found our curtain rods.
Next is Sears and we found curtains on special.
Here I am washing the rods before the installation.
Last week during our yard saling we bought a "As Seen on TV"
sewing machine for $3.00, got it for $2.00.
Well! It does not sew. To the garbage it goes!
Michèle ends up doing it by hand.
Tada! Now we only have to wait for tonight and see (or not see)
the results.
Note:
In a motorhome nothing is square. We made our curtains square,
but the frames are not.
So, good thing we bought spring loaded rods because it allows us to
angle it to make the curtains look square in the frame.
Brilliant!
Tuesday July 30, 2013
OK, our first impression is not good. The package said 99 %
opaque and it is not.
We have to find an un-expensive fix.
This morning I have an appointment with my chiro. It went
well. Next stop is at the drugstore for more medications,
followed by a stop at the post office and get a general delivery
address. Success all the way!
And now I can order my new point-n-shoot camera, more on that later.
Not much we can do this afternoon, we decide to go shopping in Regina.
First we have to find a solution about our curtains.
Next we will look for couch for our motorhome.
Finally we will stop at Home Depot for some parts for a small shelf in
the kitchen.
A nice canola field.
As in many cities, construction is also happening in Regina.
At the Bricks we found one couch we like. Did not buy it!
Today was successful.
Michèle found a solution for our curtains, more to follow.
we found a couch we like, but we have to confirm the size in the
motorhome, and we should install a small shelf in the next few days.
The weather witches forecast the next few days without rain. I
think we will change our skylight above the shower tomorrow.
Wednesday July 31, 2013
Busy day ahead of us. The weather is good for the next few
days. Time to change the skylight in the shower.
Last January, we purchased the new outer skylight, but installation had
to wait either because of weather, pollen or not long enough at the
same place.
This is the old outer part of the skylight that needs to be
removed. We actually had no problems removing the old sealant and
the skylight.
This is the inner part of the skylight. We do not have to change
this one, but a good cleaning is required.
Final cleaning before the installation.
The new skylight has no holes pre-drilled so we have to make new
one. The new skylight is much thicker then the old one and this
is a good thing.
I install new bolts and washers. The washers are the type with
rubber underneath. This will allow some flexibility during
travels.
Once installation is completed, time for the new sealant to cover the
whole thing. No water will get in!
The result.
Michèle Cleaning up the tools.
Here is a view of the full service area of the campground.
Next on the agenda, checking the new pool for Gabriel when he comes for
a visit.
We finally got done with the repair of the skylight. A very good
day.
Until next time.
Life is good...
