One more day of rest. The windshield really needed a good cleaning.

It was a day of reading.

We are back on the road. There is no COVID-19 checkpoint when you enter Ontario like we've seen when we left Ontario.

We are now in the Canadian Shield. I always love it when we come to this part of the trip. It is like coming home for me.

With the Canadian Shield, comes lots of lakes.

I have to mention that the town of Dryden is not an RV friendly town. They make sure it will be hard to get in large parking lots like Walmart or grocery stores. We will be spending our $$ somewhere else then.

Fifteen minutes later, we are at our next home. This is the first time we camp here. It is right next to the Trans-Canada Highway. For $39.55 a night with pull-thru and full services, including 50 amps, very good.

The campground and our site.

From the campground, you have access to the Wabigoon River. This is not the river.

I took another walk, this time, it was outside the campground. I guess the locals make their own warning signs about the bad roads.
The more north you go, the more the chances you have to see those yellow boxes. They contain sand and are located on hills. You do your own sanding if it is slippery.

An abandoned house. I did not go in to check it out because I was wearing sandals...

This is the route we did today.

Tomorrow we start the long driving days.

Friday, September 3, 2021

We are on the road much earlier this morning.

At one time, almost all the bridges were being repairs at the same time. This one must be one of the last few left to repair.

In travelling mode...

We stopped for gas on the east side of Thunder Bay.

The beautiful Nipigon bridge. After the bridge, we turned left on Highway 11.

Highway 11 runs along Lake Helen for a while. As you can see, the water level is extremely low.

We are spending the night in Longlac. We were supposed to visit our friends, but they are visiting family in Trenton.
Can you see the MH?

This was a long driving day for us.

Saturday, September 4, 2021

Off we go!

For the first part of the day, we do not see much other than trees!

One of the small towns/cities we come across.

Sometimes, I need a nap in the middle of the afternoon. You can do this when you are retired!

Arriving at our home for the night, New Liskeard's Walmart.

This was our longest day so far.

Sunday, September 5, 2021

This is what we saw when we got back on the road.

It turns out we did not have much rain.

I prefer to go to Flying J for gas. My second choice is Canadian Tire Gas+. The on in Deep River is a little awkward to get in for the MH and not blocking everyone.

No worries, we have both our vaccines.

Welcome to Québec.

One more Walmart for the night. This one is in Vaudreuil-Dorion, on the west side of Montreal.
Because of COVID, all the stores close at 5 pm.

This was really a long day of driving for us.

Tomorrow, we will arrive at Manon and Patrice's place.

Monday, September 6, 2021

We start the week with a photo of Natasha.

We left Walmart pretty early (for us) because we drive through Montreal on Autoroute 40. Why do we use the 40 and not the 30? Simply because at the interchange of the 30 and the 10, it is blocked because of construction.

The new REM. It will help alleviate traffic in Montreal. The roads in Montreal are terrible. Normal for Montreal.

At Trois-Rivières, we leave the 40 behind us, cross the St-Lawrence River to the 20 and head towards Quebec City.

I asked Patrice which roads he takes to go home from Montreal.
I decide to follow the same roads. We leave the 20 and go south towards Princeville, Thetford Mines and St-Benoit-Labre.

The scenery is beautiful. But! The roads are just plain terrible if you drive a MH like ours. I have to slow down to 20 km/h at times. Everything in the cupboards has shifted and is rattling. Not good!

With this, I have to make a correction. The roads in Manitoba are not that bad after all. We will take the main highway, Autoroute 73, to Quebec City on our way back.

We arrive at Manon and Patrice's place shortly after lunch. We are very happy to see them.

A little tour of the place...

They have a big yard.

And a big garden.

The view from the house.

Patrice and I went for a walk with Flick.

Wednesday, September 8, 2021

An easy day, doing nothing. Well, maybe a little. Like cooking chicken.

Thursday, September 9, 2021

It is harvest time.

Some relaxing time in the spa.

We ended the afternoon with a campfire.

Friday, September 10, 2021

Manon is working today. We went to the cheese factory in Lac-Mégantic to buy some cheese curds.

The cheese factory La Chaudière is a reference to the river that flows in the area. Chaudière means cauldron.

And going back home to St-Benoit-Labre.

Most of the afternoon was spent watching tennis, the Canadian players.

Saturday, September 11,2021

Natasha is with her dad, eating pancakes.

Catherine is here for the day. She helps us with some of the stuff we need to do, like the oil change for her car.

We cover the shelter for the boat. Move stuff around for the winter.

We do playtime too.

We have a fish feast for supper. Walleye on the left and pike on the right.

As usual, we play cards after supper.

Sunday, September 12, 2021

Michele and I are out looking for yard sales.
The Chaudière River.

The village of Saint-Martin.

In the history of Quebec, every village had to have the biggest or the prettiest church in the region.

In this region of Quebec, it either goes up the mountain or down the mountain.

More photos of Natasha...

Once again, no photos today. This is the last day for early voting in the federal election in Canada.
Patrice, Michele and I are going to vote. Manon is working. Surprise! We are not on the voter's list in our riding. The people working at the pole are very nice and explained how to add our name to the list. They also tell me they will be open tomorrow for voting.  To add our names, it needs to be done online. I wonder how long it will take for our names to appear on the list.

Patrice votes without any issues.

Once back home, I jump on the computer to get our name on the list. It may take up to 72 hours for our names to appear on the list. Darn!

The rest of the day goes without a hitch.

Tuesday, September 14, 2021

The day starts really well. I check the government website to check on our status, yes, our names are now on the list. We can go and vote.  Michele and I went right after breakfast and voted.

The next thing we do is change the TV support bracket. Ours is fixed.

We need to remove the TV and the fireplace underneath to have access to the wires.

We read the installation instructions.

With the help of Michele and Patrice, it is done in no time.

Why are we changing the support? Just to add the positioning of the TV for a better viewing position.

We are very happy with the results.

We went to the Thrift Shop after that. It is in Saint-Georges.
The Chaudière River in Saint-Georges. It means Cauldron River.

A big church in Saint-Georges.

We are having hot dogs for supper. Patrice uses his new hot dogs steamer machine.

Patrice cannot wait to eat his hot dog.

Wednesday, September 15, 2021

We have nothing planned for today. We still went to Manon's sister to pick up some items from the barn.

It is time to empty our used water tanks.
I am using our "poop-a-rator" or as a friend of mine calls it, the "smoothie machine". It is a macerator from a kitchen modified for used water dumping.
It works really well. The septic field is 100 feet away.

Until next time.

Life is good...
