Thursday, September 1, 2022.

Kristin and Jeremy went fishing after they dropped off Natasha at daycare.

We decided to go and watch them for a while. This is Jeremy in the water. He is fly fishing.

Jeremy caught a fish while we were there.

Kristin was taking a break when we arrived.

The trail from the parking lot to where they fish is along a fence. We saw many doors along the fence.
Each door has some kind of artwork made of driftwood on them. Here is a crab.

Me and the heron.

It is a beautiful morning.

I almost forgot. Today was Natasha's first day at the new daycare on base.
She had a great day.

Friday, September 2, 2022.

It is Friday and Natasha is with us for a sleepover.
We pick her up after daycare.
She stole my juice!

We have afternoon tea.
She is funny to watch. She fills each cup with very little water, we drink it, she fills them again, etc.

We play with the soccer balls.

Natasha likes broccoli one day and not the next day.

For the sleepover, she gets to watch a movie in bed with grand-maman and eat junk food.
Grand-papa stays in the living room. It is a girl's night!

Natasha just got the meaning of a sleepover with grand-maman.

Saturday, September 3, 2022.

Natasha woke up at her usual time, 6.15 am. Michele takes her in her arms. She sleeps until 7.45.

She looks rested.

Natasha gets to watch TV while eating breakfast.

She is hungry this morning. Cereals, egg and sausage.

"Grand-papa, don't talk to me until I have food in me..."

Before we take her back home, we go for a walk in a park nearby.
We talk about the world's problems...

I am showing her some of the animals living in the woods. A photo of champions.

Let's go home.

It is high tide right now.

We had lots of fun with Natasha.

Sunday, September 4, 2022.

Jeremy and Natasha came by this morning.
Jeremy is wearing scary glasses.
He tries to grab Natasha.

Natasha thinks it is really funny.

I have to save her now.

The wind is blowing from the east at 35 km/h with wind gusts of 45 km/h.

We even have some surfers.

Monday, September 5, 2022

It was just an easy day at home.

Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

It is a beautiful day, not too hot or windy. It is time for some geocaching.
Close to the RV Park is the Lazo Marsh North East Woods. I am going on the south side and many caches are in the area.

Some of the trails I did.

It is a quiet and beautiful area. I found four caches. My first ones on Vancouver Island.

The grill on my BBQ is slowly rusting away. I am looking for a way to make my BBQ last a few more years.
I have an old electric tabletop grill that does not work very well. I will try using the grill from that for the BBQ.

Michele watches tennis on TV while I read a book outside.

It was a good day.

Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

I am back at the Lazo Marsh North East Woods but on the north side this time.

I found four more caches and one I could not find. I have noticed over the years is each region has a way of describing the location of a cache and sometimes a certain style for hiding them.

I guess I was tired from looking for caches and walking four kilometres. I had to nap in the afternoon. I love naps.

Kristin's parents are visiting. John and Audrey arrived in the early afternoon.
They all came for a visit.
We took them to the beach right next to the RV Park.

Audrey is having fun throwing rocks!

We had to stop and pick some blackberries.

Going back to the MH.

John and Audrey will be visiting Jeremy and Kristin for a week.
They rented an apartment in Royston, about 30 minutes from here.

Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Kristin, Jeremy, John and Audrey are going to Elk Falls for a hike. It is near the small city of Campbell River.
We joined them for the hike.
We are taking highway 19 A. It is called the Oceanside Route, beautiful.

Once we arrived in Campbell River, we turned north to Gold River.

We are ready for the suspension bridge and fall hike.

It is a Provincial Park.

The first bridge we crossed was just an overpass for a deviation channel of the hydro dam upriver.

The suspension bridge. It is just going to an observation deck for a view of the falls.

Michele is on the bridge The falls are behind her.

Elk Falls, and the view down the river.

Back from the suspension bridge, we went to another observation deck.

We can see the suspension bridge.

This is up from the falls.

Can you see Audrey?

John protecting a tree?

They have never seen slugs this big before.

Before we left, we saw this historical sign about the past.

All this hiking opened up our appetite. It is time for some good Fish & Chips at Dick's.

A hungry bunch.

The Fish & Chips come in a "cone" and are placed in the hole in the table.
A very good idea.

Michele loves this clock.

We had a good time today.

Friday, September 9, 2022.

I am going fishing with Jeremy this morning. We are going for pink salmon.
When we got to the shore, we saw no salmon jumping. One gentleman told us the pink salmon stopped jumping 3 or 4 days ago.
A sure sign they were not around anymore. So we headed back home.
Jeremy mentioned a lake he wanted to check out. Off we go. We found Maple Lake. It is a nice little lake.

We saw a commemorative plaque at one fishing spot. I guess the man like fishing here!

I was running low on blackberry. I picked some next to the RV Park.

We are all invited for a BBQ at Jeremy and Kristin's place. Natasha makes faces to entertain us.

Saturday, September 10, 2022.

We are changing our time to have Natasha's sleepover with us. She is starting swimming lessons next Saturday morning.
It will be easier to have her over after the lessons.
We started with the new time today.
It does not matter if it is hot or cold outside, a popsicle is always good.

She loves watching a movie and eating junk food in bed with grand-maman.

She loves glow-stick too.

Sunday, September 11, 2022.

Natasha had a good night of sleep.

Before we take her back home, we go for a short hike in a park nearby.

She is hiding!!!

We played hide and seek. She is hiding right now, too funny!

A quick stop for a snack.

Life is good!

We are looking at Goose Spit and the Comox harbour.

Natasha loved her sleepover.

Monday, September 12, 2022

Over the next few days, we will have lots of smoke in the region. The smoke is from B.C and the northwest of the U.S.

Kristin has changed Natasha's bed to a regular bed. For now, until she is used to no sides, the mattress will be on the floor.

Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

John and Audrey came by for a visit this morning. They are flying back to Regina tomorrow morning.

Goodbye, John and Audrey, It was fun to see you guys again.

We had smoke in the air today.

Wednesday, September 14, 2022.

Yesterday, I checked the water level in the house batteries. All was good.
Today, I am flushing the hot water tank.

There is some corrosion on the anode, which is normal.

We still have lots of smoke in the area.

My blackberry reserve is low. Michele and I went and got some more.

We stopped at the information centre last week to pick up some literature on things to do here in the Comox Valley. This is what I am reading.

We are looking after Natasha tonight. Kristin has a baseball game. Jeremy is going mountain biking with a group of friends.

It is always fun to look after her.

Thursday, September 15, 2022.

It is still smoky on the Island.

Michele saw a camera with accessories for $1 on Market Place.
I said noway! After reading the ad carefully, it is from a lady who is selling it but does not know how much to ask. I offered her $250, believing I would not get it.
Surprise! We got it!
Here is our new, to us, Canon EOS Rebel T3 camera with everything included. It is only missing the battery charger.

Even a like new National Geographic Explorer camera bag.

After we picked up the camera, we drove around Courtenay.
Some of the stuff we see!

Kristin always sends us photos of her family. Thank you, Kristin, we love them.
Natasha helps her father.

Until next time.

Life is good...
