Saturday, January 1, 2022

So, here we are in 2022.

This is special for New Years Day. No snow anywhere.

I went for a walk in the Park. It amazes me to see how some people do not realize the power of the wind when you are near open water.
This couple was lucky the shed did not flip.

Sunday, January 2, 2022.

Happy Birthday, Benoit!
And a little skype with Benoit to wish him the best birthday.
He is our favourite youngest son, after all!

The weather is always changing. We will have some snow tonight.

Monday, January 3, 2022.

After the snow, the sun comes back in the afternoon.

The sun is warming up the sunroom nicely. It is 21.2° inside and 22.9° in the sunroom. We open the patio doors between the sunroom and the house to warm up the whole house.

I finally fixed the bathroom faucet. It is no longer leaking.

Later that evening, as I brushed my teeth, it was leaking.

Tuesday, January 4, 2022.

It is leaking more and more.

I am back at Rona to pick up more parts. This time, I found the actual faucet cartridge hidden behind other stuff!

Once back home, in five minutes the faucet is fixed, for good this time!

Wednesday and Thursday, January 5 and 6, 2022.

It is hard to see, but we got a nice little show from two foxes crossing the ice and playing on the pier.

Benoit asked us to look for a globe for him on Market Place.
We found this one.

On top of that, when it is dark, you can turn on a light inside, it shows the constellations.

Our days are uneventful.

Friday to Sunday, January 7 to 9, 2022.

Friday, we woke up to a little bit of snow.

Saturday and Sunday were just easy days.

Monday, January 10, 2022

This photo is from a few days ago.
Even if Benoit is not at his greatest, he still finds the time to help the family of a friend to move him out of his apartment. His friend is currently in a rehab center. Thank you, Benoit, for being such a good friend.

Today's text message from Benoit was like a ray of sunshine.
This is how we felt from the message, HAPPY.

What is a Monday like in our house? Some TV, some computer, lots of reading, etc.

We noticed a few rather big birds on the ice.
We took a look with our binoculars to have a look. Surprise! A bald eagle and a few turkey vultures are on the ice.
One of the swans is dead and stuck in the ice. That is nature at work.

When I walk to the end of the pier. I saw this dead bird.
I looked at it for a while and noticed it had a band on one of his legs.

I took the band off the bird and took it home to clean it.
A website is engraved on the band.

I went to the website and discovered you can register the band.
I found that this bird was a goose. It was born in 2016 in our general area.
The information they gadder will help the scientist make the right decision in the future.

This is my small moment of "Glory!"

Tuesday and Wednesday, January 11 and 12, 2022.

It looks like the cold has arrived in our area.

We will have two days of cold weather.

Thursday, January 13, 2022.

Benoit is helping again with the move of his friend. They finished moving the stuff out of the apartment.

Michele is cooking a new recipe she found on the internet. First, you cook the cherry tomatoes.

Next, broccoli.

And then noodles.

Tada!

And it is good!

Thank you, Michele.

Friday, January 14, 2022.

The cold weather is gone now. Have a look at the indoor temperature?

Now, look again? This is in the sunroom.

When it gets warmer in the sunroom than in the house, we open the patio doors to let the warm air come into the house.

Jeremy, Kristin and Natasha are on a road trip to Alberta. They are going to watch Gabriel play in a hockey tournament.
This is the first, long, road trip for Natasha.

Natasha needs a lot of calories to stay awake.

As for us, we have another cold snap coming our way.

We are located right in between two regions, so we can get anything.

Trenton is located in the Quinte municipality.

Before Christmas, we had Patricia and Andrew come over for a Raclette. They loved it.
Today, Patricia and Andrew are having one with Karsen, Andrew's youngest boy. Karsen loves it.

We are staying home, nice and warm.

Saturday, January 15, 2022.

A few more photos from Kristin, Jeremy and Natasha's trip to Alberta!

Natasha with Gabriel in the background.

There are not many people at the rink for the tournament.

Gabriel and Natasha.

Jeremy and Kristin gave our Christmas card to Gabriel. Gabriel did not make it to visit his dad because of the weather and other reasons.

They get along so well.

Until next time.

Life is good...
