1 to 15 August 2022   16 to 31 August 2022

Monday to Friday, August 15 to 19, 2022.

The days are just blending in.
Random photos of the days.
Here I am flattening a chicken breast for the first time. It was a good meal.

On Tuesday, since it was a little cooler, as in only +29° C. I fixed our stairs on the MH.
A bolt that attached the stairs unit to the frame of the MH fell off.
The corner keeps dropping down.

The view from underneath.

The nut was still there. I only had to buy a new bolt. A quick fix.

We have another problem with the MH. Over the last few weeks, the dish has only picked up one satellite. We are missing half our channels.
We should be getting up two satellites.
The problem seems to be the Wingard system itself and not Shaw Direct.

I went to Market Place and found a tripod and a dish to bypass the Wingard system and see what happened.
We have all our channels now. The problem is the Wingard system.
When the temperatures cool down, I will check the wiring on the Wingard system.

Every evening after supper, we sit in the backyard to relax and have fun.

Friday was Chinese food for supper.
I have to say, Chinese people are resourceful. They used saran wrap to create a barrier between customers and employees.
It works!

Jan sent us photos of the new cars they will be using for the race in Brighton, Ontario.
They will have five cares total for the many races.

Saturday, August 20, 2022.

Jeremy, Kristin and Natasha went to Comox Lake in the morning.
They bought two paddle boards. They love it.

This is the day we leave the driveway for a campground.
The campground will only be 6 km away from the house.

First, I have to stop for propane.
This is the only place in town for filling MH with propane.

I will have photos of the campground tomorrow.

A few hours after we left the house, Kristin sent us this photo. A helicopter was searching for a dangerous man on the loose in the military housing. They were flying very low. The man had wounded a police officer.

The man was found shortly after.

Sunday, August 21, 2022.

We are at Cape Lazo RV & Campground.

The office/store.

The arrow is where we are located. This is not our MH.

Here we are.

Our MH is under the arrow.
The playground and clubhouse.

On the left, it is the building with showers, washrooms and laundry.

The shaded part of the campground.

I am standing on the street behind the campground.

They had a big gathering of classic cars in town. On Sunday, they drove all around the area. They had over 500 cars scheduled to drive around. They came by the campground in the afternoon.

Right next to the campground, you have Holmes Point beach. The arrow points to the campground.
A bike/walking path follows the Point. On the left is the Strait of Georgia.
We are looking southward.

The northward view.

As I mentioned before, no bugs here.
We can have our meal outside.

I really like blackberries for breakfast. I ran out of blackberries this morning. I picked some more today.

The RV Park has a small community library.

Jeremy came by with his bike today.
There he is, making himself pretty!

Tuesday, August 23, 2022.

Jeremy and Kristin sent us this photo this morning. Natasha did not want to do what she was supposed to do.

This is the beach by the RV Park when we have no wind.

Michele made some Rice Crispies squares. It is good!

We had one fondue package left. We bought another one and had a fondue tonight.

Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

I cooked more breakfast sausages this morning. There is no wing and it is hot cooking in the sunshine.

After Natasha's nap, we all went to the beach at Comox Lake.
The road is very nice to the lake. It is only 30 minutes away.

The family.

This is my fisrt time on a paddle board. I did very well. I did not fall.

I went back half an hour later. This time, I fell twice. I was laughing so much at myself.
The second time I fell, while trying to get back on the board, someone talked to me and I twisted to the right. As I climbed onto the board, I heard a crack and pain on my left side. Yep, I cracked some ribs.

Natasha and Kristin, coming back from the water.

We really enjoyed the beach.

Thursday and Friday, August 25 and 26, 2022.

Not much happened on Thursday.

Friday, Michele and I went back to pick more blackberries.

The best blackberries are always the furthest!

This is just part of the picking.

Friday is also a sleepover day for Natasha.
She loves the playground in the park.

She puts on the working gloves on me.

I show her that one side is soft...

But the other side is rougher.

She watched some TV while waiting for supper.

She sure loves eating! She might be in a growing period.

We had planned for her to spend the evening watching a movie in the bedroom with grand-maman.
We could not find the movies! So she stayed in the living room to watch the movie.
Here she is playing with her junk food.

She sleeps in our bed until we go to bed, then she moves to the living room to her bed.

She was good today.

Saturday, August 27, 2022.

She is allowed to watch TV while having breakfast.

She really must be growing. She ate a big breakfast.

Before we take her back home for lunch, we stopped at Kye Bay to walk on the beach at low tide.

She played at the playground by the beach.

Jeremy and Kristin went pink salmon fishing last evening.
They caught a few and gave us some fillet.
We have salmon for supper tonight.

It is a good-tasting fish.

Sunday, August 28, 2022.

Early this morning, I am out fishing with Jeremy.
Me in action.

This is Jeremy with his fly fishing rod.

We caught three pink salmon each.
We did not keep one.

I really enjoyed pink salmon fishing.

Monday and Tuesday, August 29 and 30, 2022

Not much is happening in those two days.
Michele watches a lot of tennis on TV. I do a lot of reading.

Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

Today is the big day!
For what? For our new mattress to be delivered.
The mattress we currently have was bought from Sears in 2017 for about $2000.00.
Five years later, is it done??? This is what happens with memory foam sometimes. We all know what happened to Sears! No more warranty.

We shopped around for a new mattress. Not memory foam this time around.
We found what we were looking for at The Brick.

After discussing our need for a mattress, we concluded that one mattress at $400.00 that you may have to change every 5 to 7 years may be better than one mattress at $2000.00 gone bad after 5 years. We will see.

We are invited to Kristin and Jeremy's place.
We play with Natasha.

She loves climbing on dad.

It seems that every time we take photos, Kristin is not around!

Until next time.

Life is good...
