1 to 15 September 2023   16 to 30 September 2023

Saturday, September 16, 2023.

Jeremy invited us for breakfast.
We went to Smitty's in Comox. It is always good here.

Natasha is really good at the restaurant.

And she loves pancakes.

Now that our tummies are full, we dropped by Point Holmes for a short walk on the beach.
Their is a lot of construction happening on the road by the beach.

The Point Holmes Recreation Association is raising money to resurface the boat launch.
The tide is moving out.

The ocean's water is so clear.

Natasha had fun jumping in the puddles.

When we arrived home, she went to the bathtub to warm up and got all bundled up to watch TV.

Since Jeremy is back at work at noon, grand-maman is napping with Natasha. Within two minutes, Natasha is asleep.

Waking up is done with a lot of laughter.

I had to go to the MH in storage because a potential buyer was coming to have a look.
He seems very interested. We will see.

Grand-maman and Natasha are having fun at the playground.

Natasha practiced some more at making heart. She is doing good for a three years old little girl.

Saturday evening is the real, official sleepover night.
Movie in grand-maman's bed and with junk food too!

Sunday, September 17, 2023.

We video-chatted with Benoit in the morning. It is always good talking to him.
All is good with him,

This morning, the commemorative Battle of Britain parade is taking place at the Air Park.
Natasha and I are going to see it. We had the wrong timing. We got there 30 minutes early.

I did this parade many times while in the service.
Natasha did well the whole time of the parade.
For a three years old little girl, she is very good.
I am very proud of her.

On our way back home, we found some snow behind the rink.
I got hit by a few snowballs!

Poor little one, she was cold when we got back home.

It is so funny, a kid that loves naps, imagine that?

After her nap, we went to the Fairy Lane to check out the little house she left there.

She found it right away.

Our next RV?

We all enjoyed this Fairy Lane.

Natasha chatted with her mother on video. It happens almost every day.
Then she watches TV while we prepare supper.

Another night in the trailer for Natasha.

Monday, September 18, 2023

Jeremy and I went hiking near Campbell River.
Jeremy is hiking the Campbell River Lookout Trail. I am hiking the Ripple Rock Trail.
I am not hiking the Lookout Trail because it is a little above my skills.

The trails are well marked.

Why is it called Ripple Rock?

Ripple Rock is an underwater mountain located in the Seymour Narrows of the Discovery Passage in British Columbia, Canada. It had two peaks (2.74 metres and 6.4 metres below the surface at low tide) that produced large, dangerous eddies from the strong tidal currents that flowed around them at low tide. Ships transiting the strait preferred to wait until slack tide to safely bypass the rock.

The trail is very pretty.

Most of the bridges are made of aluminum.

The trees are so big.

The water is so clear.

Menzies Bay.

Menzies Bay in a panoramic view.

The same Bay, but from a different location.

At the same time, Jeremy made it to the top of the Lookout Trail. I am where the arrow points.

Nymph cove.

Again, in a panoramic view. It is so peaceful here.

At times, the trail is very steep.

It is all worth it, just look at the views.

I am almost at the end of the trail.

Behind me is the Seymour Narrows. The eddies you see in the water are where the Ripple Rocks are located.

The last 800 meters of the hike are pretty hard. It is a climb at an angle of 10 % or more at times.

This is the hike I did.

I really enjoyed this hike.
Now, the afternoon will be to relax and recuperate.

Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

Jeremy went fishing today.
Here is what he saw from the bridge. He told us a bear actually came to the river near him at one time.
The bear is probably used to see fishermen. He was not concerned with people.
They are not hungry at this time of year.

It is still mostly Pink Salmon going upriver.
They are jumping like crazy.
The following photos are from after supper when we went back to the river.

We are not the only ones fishing here today.

Even Natasha reeled in a line a few times
The fish are not eating when they are going upriver.
We came back home empty-handed.

Jeremy Is getting his fishing gear ready for the next outing.
He uses pieces of noodles as storage for hooks.

Wednesday, September 20, 2023.

A photo we received from the daycare.

Jeremy started working at noon today.
We picked up Natasha from daycare. We went straight to the post office so she could send a letter to her Mom.
She loves the ritual of sending a letter.

She is sleeping with us tonight.
That is one big snack.

It is not because she sleeps in the trailer that her routine changes.

Thursday, September 21, 2023.

Jeremy finished late last night but still gets up in the morning to walk Natasha to the daycare.
Why ski goggles? Simply because!

After we dropped off Natasha, Jeremy and I went fishing.
The view from the bridge.

Life is good.

The salmons are close to us, less than 20 feet. They don't bite.

Do you want salmon?

After daycare, we baked with Play-Doh.

Natasha is eating like she is starving.

She is back with us tonight.

She is so good with us. It is a pleasure to have her with us.

Friday, September 22, 2023.

As usual, Natasha had a good day at daycare.

She dances for us.

Saturday, September 23, 2023.

The weather is changing. The forecast is calling for rain and windy conditions until Friday morning.
Michele and I are yard saling. The local high school is having a fundraising yard sale today. It was big.

Natasha is trying one costume for Halloween.

Grand-maman put some decals on Natasha's fingernails. She loves it.

It is homemade pizza night. Natasha is a big help.

Our friends, Jannie and Jan, arrived today. They are at Costco for the night and will move to an RV Park tomorrow.
We stopped by to say hello before we went to the Virago Nation Show in town.

It is a burlesque show, so we are not too sure what to expect.

WOW! It was not what we expected. I am not commenting about this show because it could be offensive to certain people.

The communities of Comox and Courtenay are very supportive of the LGTBQ population.
This sign could be read in so many different ways...

What an evening.
On the bright side, we saw Kelly and Ted at the theatre. We worked with Kelly in 1979 in Cold Lake and I worked with Ted at different times in my career. It was good to see them.

Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Blocks are a classic toy for kids and are still liked by kids today.

Natasha is spoiled, having lunch in the living room while watching TV.

After her nap, she went to the playground with grand-maman.
Of course, she had to act for the camera a little.

We forgot to take photos, but Jannie and Jan came for supper.
We had a lot of catching up to do.

Monday, September 25, 2023

Another dance at daycare today.

Natasha is playing at being a teacher.

We are having strong wind and rain all day.

Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

The wind and rain continued today.

Natasha and her friends at daycare are doing a dance show.

Jannie and Jan came over with their e-bikes. We will be able to use them while they are gone.

We invited them for supper. We are having Chinese food tonight.
We have lots of fun again.

More rain and winds today and all night.

Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

The daycare had a fire drill practice today.
The kids did really good.

The kids decorated their National Day for Truth and Reconciliation T-shirt, which is observed every September 30th.
The daycare will be closed on Friday.

We had some rain early in the morning. The wind has died down. Jeremy wants to try his outboard motor on his canoe.

The sea otters are looking at us and maybe laughing a little!

It is working really well, too well actually. Jeremy cannot throttle up past a little over idle. We are still going at 8 km/h at idle.

We went all the way to Goose Spit.

We went by the Cape Lazo RV Park (top arrow) and the beach access (bottom arrow).

We did a little fishing.
Jeremy caught two plaice or flatfish. This one was about three pounds.
We did not keep it because we didn't have a bag to carry the fish in the car.
We do not want to stink up Kristin's car.

As for me? I caught the sides of the salad as we said.

The tide is still low. It makes it easy to get off the water.
After the strong winds we had the last few days, we have a lot of seaweeds on shore.

Grand-maman offered a bowl of love to Natasha. She likes it, she says.

Jannie and Jan are flying back to Ontario today. A few days later, they will fly to the Netherlands. They will be gone for about 3 weeks. They will fly back in 2 to 3 weeks and then start travelling to Arizona for the winter.
They are taking a shuttle to the ferry. They fly out of Vancouver.

The weather is still weird with rain, sunshine, wind, repeat.

Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Today at Natasha's daycare, they play train and firetruck.
Natasha loves those games. She listened carefully to the instructions.

Kristin is on her third week of basic training in Saint-Jean.
She is on the right in the first rank. She is doing very good.

Natasha received a letter from her mom. She is happy.

We are going to the theatre in Courtenay for the play "The Shoplifters".

It was good. We enjoyed it very much.

Jeremy is starting work tomorrow at 4 a.m. Natasha had to sleep in her room because we were at the theatre.
I will be in the house by 3:45 so Jeremy can go to work and not wake up Natasha.

Friday, September 29, 2023.

The night's sleep was very short. I could not go back to sleep after I got in the house!

Daycare is closed today. It is because of the "National Day for Truth and Reconciliation".

Natasha woke up at 7 this morning.
We woke grand-maman at 8 and asked if she wanted French Toast for breakfast. She said yes.
Natasha and I prepared the recipe.

She is a good helper.

But the work she likes the best is eating.

My two girls.

After this good meal, Natasha and grand-maman do some painting.

Before lunch, we all went to the Dollorama for some shopping.

With Halloween coming soon, the store has a lot of items on display, like those masks.

She tried many things. She was very good in the store.

That is one full lunch plate.

After her nap, we played pirates.

When Jeremy got back from work, they went to the Canex for a blue slush.

Natasha is sleeping in the trailer tonight. Jeremy has to get up early again tomorrow.

She loves the glow sticks.

I got a package from Amazon today.
It is two personal, very loud alarms. I wanted one for hiking and one for Michele's purse.

Saturday, September 30, 2023.

Natasha had a good night's sleep. She loves sleeping in the trailer.
Here she is helping grand-maman clean the shoe rack.
Grand-maman is good at making Natasha help clean.

A grand-papa and grand-daughter moment.

A grilled cheese without crusts is always better.

Saturday evening is always the "real" sleepover with a movie and snacks in the big bed.

She had to make faces.

It was a good day with Natasha. She is very tired even if she sleeps well. She must be growing up.

Until next time.

Life is good...
