Sunday, July 16, 2023.

Natasha had a good night's sleep in the MH. She is having a morning full of laughter.

The weather is nice, warm at +24°C, we are going to the beach.

We are at Ky Bay. It is about 7.4 km from the house. We are almost at low tide, so we have lots of sandy areas.
Natasha with her new bathing suit. She is so cute.

In between the sandbars, you have some water left behind. You can find all kinds of living creatures in there.
We saw some small crabs, flatfish, and regular fish.

The beach girl!

Back at the house, it is lunchtime before nap time.

Having a nap with grand-maman.

We sure had a great day so far.

The rest of the day is pretty uneventful.

Monday, July 17, 2023

Today, Kristin is coming home.
Natasha cannot wait to see her mom.

We have not had any rain in over a month. Before lunch, the rain started to come down for about 45 minutes.
it was good to have some rain, but we definitely need more rain.

After we picked up Natasha at the daycare, we headed out to the airport to wait for Kristin.

This is Kristin's aircraft. Natasha is super excited.

Natasha made a beautiful sign welcoming Mom.

Mommy and daughter are so happy to see each other.

It is a beautiful day for us, Natasha and Kristin. We all are happy!

Gabriel cannot wait to get here either.

Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

Jeremy and Gabriel left Blackfalds, Alberta, this morning. It seems Gabriel needs more sleep.

They have to cross the Rockies.

Welcome to British Columbia.

They should arrive tomorrow afternoon.

Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

Our poor little Natasha is sick today. She did not have a good night of sleep. She has a fever.
She is not going to daycare today.

At times, she has a boost of energy and then, she fades.

She takes many short naps.

She is literally falling asleep in a flash.

Nothing beats a mommy hug.

Jeremy and Gabriel arrived after supper. Natasha is so happy to see her big brother.

And her Daddy.

For the rest of the evening, she stays next to her brother.

We are so happy to have Gabriel with us for the summer.

Thursday, July 20, 2023.

I have an appointment at Canadian Tire for an out-of-province car inspection this morning.
You need this inspection to be able to register the car in BC.
The car inspection minus the windows tinting. I need to take the tinting off the two front side windows to pass.
I went home and took it off myself. In the afternoon, I returned to Canadian Tire and they gave me the certificate saying the car is now good to be registered in BC.

Meanwhile, it is time to wash the bikes.

And a bike ride with her brother and dad.

Jeremy and Gabriel are going to the beach to do some paddle boarding. Natasha is making sure all is good.

Those two are like fingers in a hand.

Natasha is getting better today. She still did not go to daycare.

Friday, July 21, 2023.

Jeremy is back to work today. He is working until Monday morning.
After breakfast, Gabriel and I are hiking  in Seal Bay Nature Park.
We hike the same trail as we did with Natasha.

It is Melda's marsh loop.
I really enjoyed hiking with Gabriel.

Natasha did not hike with us. She is still sick.

She has more good moments than bad moments.

She still needs a lot of sleep to get better.

A tragedy struck our home. After supper, we noticed that Sonny the fish, is dead.

Sonny was a Betta fish.
The 30 or so snails are doing good.

Sonny's funerals were pretty fast, the time of a flush.
The family got over it pretty fast.

What a day.

Saturday, July 22, 2023.

It is just an ordinary Saturday for us.

She is feeling better, so we are having the sleepover anyway.
Natasha and grand-maman are in the bedroom having junk food and snacks, watching a movie.

Once the movie is over, it is my turn. I read a few stories before bedtime.

After the stories, we fake sleeping. Call grand-maman. Natasha is a pretty good actress.

She is so easy to put to bed.

Sunday, July 23, 2023.

Natasha had a good night's sleep in the MH.

Grand-maman is getting a lot of love. Natasha and Gabriel stick to her like glue.

Natasha loves dolls and dressing them.

She is wearing one of her many dresses .

What a face.

Gabriel is doing a sleepover in the MH tonight.

Another good day.

Monday, July 24, 2023

Gabriel got a haircut today. It looks nice.

My pretty Michele.

Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

We have a busy morning in front of us. We are going to Comox Lake for a couple of hikes.

Michele did not come this time.

Jeremy is our guide. He is not sure which trail is the good one.

Right at the start, we go up and up.

The trail is well maintained. It is beautiful.

The first lookout point on the trail. This is Comox Lake.

The professional hikers!

Another viewpoint. This time we can see the town of Comox and the Georgia Strait.

In certain areas, we have to use a rope to climb.

This guy didn't stop talking the whole way. It is too funny.

This is one big mushroom.

We climbed about 180 meters on this hike.

We even saw a bear in the distance.

And a snail.

This is the hike we ended up walking.

Natasha loves her daycare.

A good snake with Daddy before bedtime.

It was a good day.

Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

The three musketeers.

Today Kristin is doing her swearing-in in the military.
We are on our way to the ceremony.
We are all ready to go.

Our two men.

We are joining Kristin at her office.

Being a military ceremony, we had to wait.

Kristin should have done the swearing-in in Victoria at the recruiting office, but her boss, the deputy Wing Commander, suggested doing it here with her coworkers.
She jumped at the chance.

It is done. She is now a military member. She is joining as an officer.

We all are very proud of her. Congratulation, Kristin.

We had a little gathering after the ceremony.

Once back home from the ceremony, Jeremy informed us that CANEX had free hot dogs or hamburgers for lunch.
Off we go for free food.

The husband of the Deputy Wing Commander is a Warrant Officer at the Fireball.
He saw Gabriela and Natasha and asked them if they wanted to go in the fire truck for a tour. They loved it!

After Natasha's nap, they all went to the playground.

She also had fun on the front lawn.

We had a good day with a lot of action.

Once again, congratulation Kristin.

Gabriel had a sleepover in the MH.

Thursday, July 27, 2023.

It is just a regular Thursday.
Jeremy is back to work this morning. He will be off tomorrow until Monday morning.

Gabriel and I went for a bike ride today.

Gabriel showed me the 10 foot wall he and Jeremy found.

Friday, July 28, 2023.

We are out hiking again this morning.
This time, we are hiking the Campbell River Lookout Trail. It is a 7 km return hike going up more than 500 meters in altitude gain.

The gang.

This is the trail we are going for.

Let's go!

We crossed two almost dry creeks.

After a few hundred meters of almost flat terrain, the climbing starts.

After about 2.1 km, my knee started to hurt a little.
I decided to head back to the car and not hurt my knee more by continuing.
I have nothing to prove anyway.
Check out how steep it is?

Kristin, Jeremy and Gabriel carried on.

Shortly after I turned around, they came to a viewpoint. This is looking east at the mainland.

They are so  cute.

They are back faster than expected. They walked on a ground wasp's nest. Gabriel and Jeremy got stung.
They could not get past the wasp's nest. They headed back down.
Here they come.

One of the sceneries on the way back.

To top off a good day, hot dogs outside.

This is what I actually hiked today.

Jeremy, Kristin and Gabriel walked about one more kilometre than me.

Saturday, July 29, 2023.

It is a Saturday at home!

A little bit of fun time at the playground.

A special occasion, Natasha has her nap in the MH.

Jeremy, Gabriel and I are out looking for the Headquarters Falls. We followed the indications but did not find it.
We will have to do some more research.

It is blackberry harvest time this evening. Jeremy and Kristin are freezing them for this winter.
They have some friends watching.

Natasha is the official taster.

Natasha wanted to play in the pool but without water!

Our handsome Gabriel.

Tonight's supper is an "All-thats-left" kind of meal but with some chicken wings.

Natasha has her weekly sleepover with us in the MH.

Storytime and bedtime after. She is so easy to please (for us).

Sunday, July 30, 2023.

Natasha had a good night's sleep, us too by the way.

We are back looking for Headquarters Falls.
This time around, we have the right direction.

The water level is pretty low right now in the Comox Valley. The trail is not really visible so we walk on the rocks to go up the creek.

The falls are not very far from the highway.

The white spot in the middle of the photo is the drone Jeremy is flying.

Gabriel is always looking for critters.

The Headquarters Falls.

Yes, we did swim in the water below the falls.

We had so much fun.
On our way back to the car, Gabriel walked on the bottom of the creek.

And he found other critters (crawfish).

We loved the swimming, we will come back.

Natasha and grand-maman had fun too at the playground.

Jeremy and Kristin are trying their new pizza oven they won at the base bingo.
The master chef at work. He has to turn the pizza every 8 to 10 seconds. In one minute, the pizza is cooked.

Kristin is the actual master of making pizza.

The pizzas were very good. It was a success.

Monday, July 31, 2023

Michele and the gang, not me, went to pick up some Blackberry. They harvested a large quantity. This is what is left after they had the rest frozen.

She loves the hula hoops.

She also loves her snacks.

Kristin is at the pool with Gabriel after supper.
Grand-maman does something she usually does not do. She gives glow sticks to Natasha, in her bed, in the house. This is special. She does not let go of them.

Until next time.

Life is good...
