1 to 15 December 2023   16 to 31 December 2023

Saturday, December 16, 2023.

Jeremy was having fun with Natasha and his phone. They look so funny.

We are at the Somerton Tamale Festival today.

The things we see in our travels, like this money machine with its own generator!

We are just before lunchtime. This is why the street is not full of people. It will be full of people in about one hour.

We came to this festival in years past. We never stayed for the kid's show. This year we are staying.
Jan and Jannie are with us.

As for the tamales, we do not really care for them.

The Parade of Lights is tonight. They come through the RV Park and the residential area.
We have a clear night with the moon shining.

We are waiting for the parade at the patio.

It was very nice.

Sunday, December 17, 2023.

We are at the Arizona Marketplace for a stroll.

It is bigger and getting bigger. You can almost find everything you want here.

Back at the trailer, Michele is on the hunt for coupons and deals for the local pharmacy.

Shortly after supper, we have our own parade of decorated golf carts.

We had a busy week.

A while back, one of my glasses arms broke.
We are back in Los Algodones with our friends Gaétan and Michelle to get my glasses fixed.
It is a quick trip to Los Algodones. We arrived at 8:30 and went to the glasses store, but they no longer had this frame in stock. They found another frame where the lenses would fit in. But to fit in, they have to modify the lenses. They said it would take one hour to do it. We have learned that one hour in Mexico means one hour and a half to two hours. Since it was a colder day, we stopped by a coffee shop and had hot chocolates.

The new glasses fit well. We were back at the park by 10:30.

Renzo arrived around noon to finish the patio.

By 13:30, it is completed.

As I have said, time for Mexicans is a little different.
It did take longer to be completed, but we are very happy with the results.
Thank you, Renzo.

We are having supper at our friend's place. There will be 4 couples.
My pretty Michele.

The group, from L to R.
Myself, Terry, Dennis, Gaétan, Michelle, Gail, Darlene and my Michele.

This time, we can see Gail a little better.

The meal was excellent, and so was the company.
To top it all off, a beautiful sunset.

We are spoiled by the weather and by our Yuma family (friends).

Tuesday and Wednesday, December 19 and 20, 2023.

Jeremy, Kristin and Natasha are having a good time in the Comox Valley.

We want wooden steps for our 5th wheel. This is the model we would like to have.
Jan will give me a hand to build them or should I say, I will help Jan.

Thursday, December 21, 2023.

Jan invited me for a ride in this side-by-side today.
We did the Wood Cutter trail. We travelled about 80 km today.

We were three side-by-side today.

We will be going over the Gila Mountain Range.

A lot of mining has been and is happening in the mountains.

An old miner? He is made of plastic.

We have taken many breaks during this trip. We want to enjoy the scenery.

Once over the Range, we had lunch at the Naked Dates farm.
I had a Baja Shrimp Melt. It was so good.

I really enjoyed my day of riding.
To top it off, we were invited for supper with Jannie and Jan.
As usual, the food was excellent.

Friday, December 22, 2023.

Today was an inside day. It rained all day, and it was cold. We are under a flash flood warning.
I did not take any photos of the rain, but it was coming down hard at times.

Natasha with her ballet outfit. She will be starting Ballet classes in January.

Michele is done making our funny hats. They will be used when we sell 50/50 at the Valentine's dance.

Saturday, December 23, 2023.

I continue doing stuff in our shed. I will be buying a workbench and some shelving in the new year.

While I moved stuff from the storage in the 5th wheel to the shed, I noticed some water on the floor.
I start to investigate the source of the water. I found the leak in the maze of pipes and hoses behind a wall. It should be an easy fix, but things can easily change, and be a pain. I will wait until after the holidays, just in case things take a turn for the worst while fixing it.

Sunday, December 24, 2023.

Gabriel has arrived at his Dad's place for about 10 days. Jeremy, Kristin and Natasha are happy to have him over the holidays.

She fell asleep holding her brother's hand and never let go. Even Gabriel did not let go.

They are a little spoiled. They could open some presents on Christmas Eve.

We have another supper at a friend's house. It is at Gaétan and Michele's place.

We are  couples tonight.

We had to do some crazy stuff.

The meal was prepared by many people. It was a traditional meal from Quebec.
We had turkey, ragoût de boulettes (meatball stew) with all the sides.

It was all excellent!

Once the meal was over, it was time for the serious stuff.

And a place for the talking and teasing.

My pretty Michele.

We ate well, drank well and had a lot of laughter with our "Yuma Family".
A big thank you to all the cooks. It was a fabulous feast.

Merry Christmas to all.

How we would love to be with them on this special day.

The RV Park is offering Christmas dinner to the residents of the Park.

Even if the Park is not filled. We have a good turnout.

Gaétan and I are selling 50/50 tickets and had fun doing it.

The meal was good, and so was the company.

A resident won the 50/50, all $203 of it.

We are done selling for today.

After the meal, we had a quiet evening at home.

Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

And the party continues.
We are at the Howling at the Moon with Jannie and Jan.
Even if it is on the cold side for Yuma, they have a good turnout.

Almost the same photos, but 40 minutes later. The sunset is just illuminating the mountains.
The more the sun sets, the more the colour changes. It is grandiose.

Jannie, me and the wolf in the middle.

The sunset is just minutes before the moon rises. The sunset is beautiful.

The moon made it over the mountain at 17:45.

After we owled at the moon for a while, we settled down to listen to the band.
We had the fire pit to keep us warm.

The band was Mason and the White Horse Band.
They were good.

We had a good day.

Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

Jan and Jannie are coming over.
Jan is helping me re-leveling the 5th wheel. Jannie and Michele went shopping.
I was with a friend the first time I levelled it. We did not do it right. Many cinder blocks broke.

Here is the pile of broken cinder blocks. You can see how Jan and I did it this time around. The plywood between the blocks is to prevent them from breaking.

Thank you, Jan for the help.

At the Christmas dinner, Judith had a kind of homemade utensil holder.
Michele liked it. She found some material she had bought a few weeks ago.
She has everything to make some.
Michele's is the one on the left.

Thursday, December 28, 2023.

Back in Comox, Jeremy took Gabriel fishing in the rain. Gabriel loves it.

Natasha used the money she got for Christmas and bought a musical jewelry box.

It is hot-dogs day in the Park. This is their first time doing it.

It was good. They had a few slowdowns, but nothing that will not be fixed the next time around. Good job gang.

We are out for a car ride this afternoon.
We are on our way to Somerton and to San Luis, Arizona.
This area is agricultural.

A cabbage field freshly harvested.

This is the main street of Somerton. A few weeks ago, this is where the Tamales festival took place.

Next was San Luis. It is a small border town with services for migrants.

Friday, December 29, 2023.

Jeremy and Kristin are keeping things busy during the Christmas Holidays.
The rain is not stopping them. Here they are at Elk Falls Provincial Park.

Winter on the Island is the wet season. They have a lot of water in the rivers.

Beautiful family.

Michele and Gail finished a puzzle at the library.

Saturday, December 30, 2023.

We are decorating the hall for the New Year's Eve party.
I am the official balloon inflater with a compressor.

The balloon bag will open at midnight to celebrate the New Year.

We had the desire for a good date-shake, so we went to Martha's Garden for one.

The date-shake was very good.
We had visited this date farm a few years back.

Next, we went looking for our friends Barry and Rose.
Yes, they are here in Yuma. They are healthy and going strong at 81 and 80 years young.
Once again, I forgot to take any photos.

Sunday, December 31, 2023.

I had breakfast with Judith and Éric at Weezy's.

Back in Comox, Gabriel went mountain biking with his Dad. Gabriel loves it, even when he crashes.

Gabriel is now old enough to fly Jeremy's drone.

We are at the RV Park New Year's Eve Party with Jannie and Jan.

And a lot of friends. Francine and Alain.

Éric had to make faces.

My pretty Michele.

Jannie.

Judith.

The two fools!

Gail, Michelle and Jan.

We had the 50/50 draw at eleven thirty. The winning number was not in the hall.

The band we had was very good. They sang all the right songs for the crowd.
The dance floor was packed most of the night.

It is midnight. Happy New Year to all.

Until next year.

Life is good...
