Wednesday October 16, 2019

Patrice will be leaving during the night. He got a call from the photographer to book a time for the photos. Patrice says, "Right now!". He is coming. Two hours later he is gone with the photos.

The weather will not be nice to travel, we will see!

Thursday October 17, 2019

On our way to Trenton. We left Berthierville at around 9 am.
It is raining and pretty hard at time.

The last time we drove through Montreal was 4 or 5 years ago. Usually, we take the route around Montreal. After driving in Montreal, I remember why we drive around! This is 10 am in Montreal, not only is there traffic, but you have to check the crazy driver and the very bad road. Some of the pot holes were pretty big. We will not be doing this again anytime soon.

We arrived at Jannie and Jan's place at 4 ish. Jannie is cooking some delicious ribs for supper.

As usual, we had good food, good beverage and lots of laughters.

As you can see, life is tough!

Thanks Jannie and Jan for your hospitality.

Friday October 18, 2019

After our goodbyes, we stop for some propane before we hit the 401.

But! Just before we enter the 401, I fix (temporary) on the slide's awning that makes noise when we drive.

The 401 before we arrive in Toronto.

Toronto, 10 am, no stress. On the right, yesterday in Montreal, 10 am, stress!

There is an accident on the QEW before Niagara Falls and it is blocked. We take a detour and we have to drive under the Welland Canal. Construction in the tunnel equal detour!

Darn it is narrow!

Made it to the RV Park, no problem and no stress. The Park is also a "Haunted Manor" for Halloween.

Once installed, I cook my breakfast sausages. A gentleman stop by to chat. He is a veteran from the British Air Force. Nice man.

We spend the evening watching TV.

Saturday October 19, 2019

The weather is very nice, +18 with sunny skies.
Our site. When we arrived, we were told we had to move to another site because the previous camper had not moved yet. No problem. We got to our new site, but it is not level. I call back the office and they tell me to move to one of the pull-thru with 50 amps services. We only paid for 30 amps services, free bonus!

We are going back to our routine.

We did some grocery shopping and for supper, we are making home made pizza.

Not too bad after all.

I went to chat with people that were here last year. Nellie and Carl are very nice people. Last year was their first year full timing.

Sunday October 20, 2019

Another beautiful day with a nice +19° C.
We are not supposed to wash our RVs in the park, but I sneaked in a quick wash anyway. What a rebel I am!

I might wax the MH tomorrow if the weather is still nice.

Monday October 21, 2019

More good weather for today.
I waxed the MH today. Look at how shiny it is right now.

This side is not waxed yet, but the other side is.

Today, at the local Walmart, I asked them to transfer my prescription file from the pharmacy in Quebec to here. This way I can order my prescriptions for the whole winter no problems. I also contacted my medical insurance and ask for the authorization to get 6 months of medication at one time and they pay for it. It is called a "holiday supply." It will take 48 hours to be effective. I always ask for this 2 weeks before we leave, because usually something happens and it gets screwed up! We will see!

Tuesday October 22, 2019

We woke up to rain and pretty heavy rain at times.
The rain stopped in late afternoon and the MH is still shiny!

After talking about where we should be going this winter, it was decided to go to Texas this winter. We should cross the border on November 1st.

Wednesday October 23, 2019

Guess what? I have problems with my prescriptions!
It started when I went to Walmart to order my medications for the 6 months. The lady tells me one of my medication is only good for another month!!! It should be good as long as the other. She suggested I called my doctor and get a new prescription. I called my doctor and after talking to the secretary, she asks that Walmart Pharmacy ask the renewal of the prescription because this way it will be done faster. Back at the Walmart, talked to the lady there. Sure no problems. I also asked to get 6 months supplies of my medications and she says no! Wait until tomorrow because we are still in the 48-hours wait-time. OK then, see you tomorrow. More to follow.

On our way back, I stopped at the Chiropractor for an appointment. Tomorrow at 2.45 h.

The wind is very strong today, but the sun is shinning.

Thursday October 24, 2019

This sunrise was much better in person.

I got a call this morning. It was from my doctor's secretary asking me for the Fax # of the pharmacy at Walmart.
I gave it to her, now we wait and see.

I went to my chiropractor appointment this afternoon. As usual, some pain during the treatment, but much better after. Next appointment, Tuesday morning.

By the end of the afternoon, I went to visit our neighbors for a few drinks. By the time I left, I was chilled to the bones!

I got an email from my doctor's secretary asking again for the Fax # of the pharmacy at Walmart. It turned out I made a mistake. One number on the phone number was wrong. I am not proud of myself right now!

I got a text msg from Patrice. The house is sold on condition of a house inspection.

Friday October 25, 2019

I woke up with a sore throat. Not good.
We are on the road by 9 am. We are going to the Salvation Army. They are having a huge sale today.
Michele found two small pants for the baby girl Kristin and Jeremy will be having.

The next stop is at the Goodwill and Michele did not find anything good.

We also stopped at the Walmart to get our flu shots for this year. I checked for my last prescription and it is all here, super!
I now have all my medication for the whole 6 months we will be away from home.

We are back at the RV Park before noon.

We spent the rest of the day indoor. We had a cool +11° C today.
We will be having heavy rain tonight and possible frost after that. Man!

We are having a St-Tite bucket Steak for supper.

Good meal and we watched TV all evening.

Saturday October 26, 2019

Last evening, Michele suggested we go to the IKEA in Burlington.
Good idea! We have not been in an IKEA in over 20 years. Burlington is only 45 minutes away.
The photo comes from Google Earth. The parking lot was full today.

All we got from IKEA was their catalog.
We only crossed the street to go to the Treasure Hunt. A discount/liquidation type of store.

The store is kind of free-for-all.

WOW! We did not buy anything!

Michele is super fast with the camera when we are driving. She got this sign a few second before we drove past it.

One of the two bridges we cross on our way home. The Burlington Bay James N. Allan Skyway Bridge.
On the left is Lake Ontario and on the right is the Port of Burlington/Hamilton.

We made it home before the rain started. The forecast is calling for rain, heavy at time and strong wind.

Sunday October 27, 2019

We had some pretty heavy rain last night. The wind came up in the morning and it was strong with wind gust of up to 70 km/h.

We did not want to stay the whole day inside, so we went to Canadian Tire and Walmart to see if the had folding bike on display, no!

Michele is fixing us a very good supper.

Tomorrow we will be making our reservation for our campground in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. This is a first for us. We will even try three months at the same place, WOW! We will be at the Bit-O-Heaven RV Park.
We are getting anxious to go. We will probably leave on Thursday the 31st October because they forecast south-west winds on Friday.
As for Friday's wind, we will be more south so we will see.

Monday October 28, 2019

We are having lunch at the Mandarin. We love this place.

It is very nice and clean inside. The food is very good and warm.

Michele is waiting for the "go ahead".

Why is it that in an "all-you-can-eat" you eat way too much?

After lunch, we decided to go and check out the Falls.
We take Lundi's Lane to go to the Falls. This Lane takes us to Clifton Hills where most of the tourist traps are.

Clifton Hills views going both ways.

The big wheel!

Another part of Clifton Hills.

And the Falls. This is the Canadian side of the Falls.
We just drive by. We have seen them so often...

The hotels, casino and the tower.

The American side of the falls.

After our quick visit of the Falls, we go back home.
This is where the battle of Lundi's Lane took place during the 1812 war. It happened on July 24, 1814, during the Niagara campaign.

When we got back home, we went for a chat with our friends.
As soon as the sun goes down, it gets cold fast. We had a nice sunny day today.

Tuesday October 29, 2019

For not reason, I am awake by 6:30 am!
While I am having breakfast, I watch the sunrise.

At 8:30 am, I am at my appointment with the chiropractor. It is my last appointment before we go south.
I dropped by the bank to get some American dollars.
At home, I continued to wax the MH. I started last week and I only had one side left to be done. I also pack everything for our trip south because it is supposed to rain a lot over the next few days.

While I was waxing the MH, Michele did some last minute laundry.
I did mention that this RV Park has a Halloween section. Here are some of the station you can see.

You have to have a cemetery with a casket near by!

Grand-Pa still in his rocking chair!

With the waxing and the laundry completed, Michele watches tennis and I read the news on my tablet.

By late afternoon I go and have a beer with our friends.

Wednesday October 30, 2019

I am off for a walk this morning. I am walking along Lundi's Lane.
I think it is very nice to let the local artists do something with the gray/green electrical boxes.

I understand that hotel/motel and other business have a name that relates to the Falls, but space? A restaurant even has the name of Flying Saucer!

After two kilometers, I head back to the RV Park.

Michele wanted to go back to Value Village et even offered me to go to the local Irish Pub Magilligan's for a beer while she shopped.
A good Guinness Stout.

We are having steaks for supper.

Tomorrow morning, we will be leaving for Texas. We looked at the weather along our route and decide it was the best to leave tomorrow.

Thursday October 31, 2019

A light fog greeted us this morning. Yet no rain, good!

Let's go to the U.S.A.

They are almost done working on the Peace Bridge going to Buffalo. They have been working on it for a few years now. It was not fun to cross.

We ended up right behind our friends, Carl and Nellie, at the border. As usual, the crossing was uneventful. Except for the customs officer who had a very strong German accent! He was hard to understand.

With the custom and the city of Buffalo behind us, the rain started and it rained hard at times. Lucky, no wind so far.

A quick stop for gasoline for the MH. At $0.85 per litre after all the exchange rates and conversion, not too bad at all.
It takes a while to put over 200 litres of gasolines in the MH. I kill time washing the windshield of the MH while it rains.

And we continue our trip with the rain coming down on us.

The last couple of times we drove through Columbus, it was under construction, all of it!
But look at it now? So nice and smooth.

We made it to Alton RV Park near Columbus for the night. The weather forecast for tonight calls for -1 to -2° C.

Benoit sent us a text with this photo. It is him dressed-up for Halloween at work. He won $25 for best costume. Good for you Benoit!

This is the road we have covered today. A wet 583 km.

We will be leaving tomorrow morning and try to get to warmer climate.

Until next time.

Life is good...
