Tuesday January 1, 2019

We wish this for everybody...

I still wonder what 2019 has in store for us.

And the sun is back, but with only +12° C for a maximum.  Here I was coming back from scaring away pigeons from the pool area.

Tonight for New Years Day supper, we are having a Chinese fondue.

It was good!

Wednesday January 2, 2019

Happy Birthday Benoit, our most favorite youngest son.
And one shooter for Benoit.
Licking salt.

Drinking tequila.

And bitting the citrus.

Brrrr!  It was on the cold side last night, only 3.6° C and this morning at 11.32 it was still only 9.4° C.

It was also very windy today.  It was a day spent mostly indoor.

Thursday January 3, 2019

An easy day.  I did vacuum the car with my new vacuum.  It works great.  Michele did laundry.  It was warmer if you were hidden from the wind.
We got a call from Jan and Jannie.  They are in Yuma and we invited them for supper tomorrow.

Friday January 4, 2019

Another night with a low of 1° C.  You can go away cold front

We made a quick trip to Walmart this morning.

Jannie and Jan came for supper and we caught up on the news.  We really enjoyed our time together.

It was another good day, but the warm weather can come back now.

Saturday January 5, 2019

WOW!
We may have rain this afternoon!
We woke up under a cloudy sky and cold weather, at least for Yuma.
Look at the temperature at supper time?

We had rain all afternoon and evening.  It was a lot of rain for Yuma for this time of the year.

Another day indoor.

Sunday January 6, 2019

The sun is back!  But the wind still has a bite to it.

We went to the Arizona Market for lunch and window shopping with Gaétan and Michelle.

When we got back home, we had a nice 3 to 5 happy hour with them.

Monday January 7, 2019

While Michele was sleeping in, I went to visit Jannie and Jan and had a good cappuccino.

Michele and I went to an RV parts store in the afternoon.  We never been here before.  This store has a lot of stuff.

After the Happy Hour with Gaétan and Michelle, we went to the hot tub, it was the first one in 2019.

Can you see the very small crescent of the moon over the tree?

Tonight is the night when the winter season TV shows starts.  We will be watching TV tonight.

Tuesday January 8, 2019

The weather is getting better.  It is warmer during the day, but the wind still has a bite to it.

We went to visit our friends Barry, Rose and Bettie, let's not forget Yuma the dog.
It is always fun to spend some time with them.

Gaétan and Michelle came over for Happy Hour.

Tuesday!  It is bingo night!
Tonight it was my turn to be lucky.  I won $25 and it only cost us $12 for all our cards.  We are still in the black.

Another good day!

Wednesday January 9, 2019

We had a free lunch at the clubhouse today.  The owners of the park were putting on the free meal to say thank you for another good season.
The people on the stage are two of the many owners of parks in the area.

The servers were also owners of the parks.
The meal was mince meat on a bun with sides.

We got a text from Jannie and Jan inviting us for dinner tonight.
We went there in mid-afternoon for a few drinks before the meal.  It is always fun the visit them.
They cooked a chicken and noodles casserole and it was good!
We had this Pineau Des Charentes as an after meal drink, very good.

Just before the meal, we had this beautiful sunset.

The four musketeers just before we left.

And the not so serious photo...

We had a great day and it was warmer.

Thursday January 10, 2019

Michele found an advertising in the local paper for the wine we like.  It is on sale for $5 for a box of 5 liters.  Yes, $5 for 5 liters.
OK, the wine is past its best before date by 4 to 6 months, but hey, it is still good.  We stocked up.

We found another Thrift Shop nearby.  I look at the scenery while she is shopping.

It was a nice day, why not flush the hot water tank.

Usually, there was some kind of gelatin coming out of the tank, but not this time.  There were still some flakes of hardened sediment coming out witch is normal.
Later while talking with Gaétan, I realize why I did not see this gelatin.  Since I use the water filters, we have not had that gelatin anymore.  Another positive thing about using the water filters.

Jan and Jannie dropped by to pick up the boxes of wine we bought for them.  They stayed for a few beers.  Gaétan and Michelle joined us a little later.

Gaétan made the suggestion about going to the patio and use the fire place after supper.  After our meal, we joined them on the patio.

Crazy.

Unbelievable, the gentleman doing the lockup for the night asked us to stop the fire and go home.  What?  It was only 10 pm!
We were not even talking loud!  I understand the quiet hour starts at 10 pm, but put the fire out and go home?  I have to say, he is in his 80s.  OK, I feel better now.

Friday January 11, 2019

We went to Mexico today, but not in Los Algodones, but in San Luis Rio Colorado.
We have never been there before.  We are with Jannie, Jan, Gaétan, Michelle, Steve and Debbie.
San Luis has a population of about 200,000 souls.

This city is not a touristy city like Los Algodones.  Here, it is the real Mexico.  The city seems richer than Los Algodones.  But Los Algodones is more of a "festive" town.

We walked around the commercial streets for a while, not knowing where we were going.  We never felt in danger.

We had lunch at this little restaurant.  We all had Quesadilla, either with pork or beef.  Some of us even had the tripes Quesadilla.  It was good.

This place had no beer, but the owner told us to go to the corner store and buy beer there.

The gang, Steve, Debbie, Jannie, Michelle, Michele, myself, Gaétan and Jan.  We had a very good meal and lots of laughters.

This street is route #2 and it is a very busy road.

Jan loves tractors...

Me?  I like corn on the cub.  This one was not good at all...

Mexico uses the same road signs as Europe.

It is hard to see, but a man is holding on the sign on the truck!
We must have looked at them for half an hour moving the sign from the truck to the top of the building, maybe hoping something would happen!

A different way to advertise your drugstore!

We all really enjoyed our trip to San Luis.  It was a lot of fun.

Saturday January 12, 2019

A quiet day at home, well almost.
We did go to the Arizona Market to buy some LED lights and a pair of sunglasses for Michele.

We needed to replace 4 light bulbs like the one on the left by more efficient LED lights.

One more light was for the outside porch light.

Since it was cloudy, I cleaned the 3 vents and covers.

They really needed it.

I also cooked the chicken we bought a few days ago.

Tonight, I had my last small bottle of Jim Beam and it was very good.

Sunday January 13, 2019

We invited our friends Jannie, Jan, Gaétan and Michelle to join us for the Gathering of the Gunfighters.

Basically, it is a group of people competing and having fun doing skits dressed as cowboy from the 1880s years.
This gathering was at the Arizona Territorial Prison in Yuma.
So, we were at the fictional "Sixshot Flats Arizona Territory."

They had a gun salute for the people that passed since last year gathering.

They played two skits per half-hour.  They all looked really good.

The site where the gathering was taking place is also very nice.

We ate some German sausages.

Surprise!  There was a real wedding taking place today.
This is the reverent, a real one.

The bride coming with her father.

On the left is the groom and standing next to him is his father.

The bride and groom met here 10 years ago.

The skits continued all afternoon.

Most gunfight take place because of gold or women!

On our way back, we stopped at Jannie and Jan's place for a drink or two.

When we got home, we went for Happy Hour with Gaétan and Michelle at their place.
We had kind of a nice sunset.

We had a really good week.

Monday January 14, 2019

After the busy day we had yesterday, we are having an easy day today.

Since it was a cloudy day today, I did some preventive maintenance on the slide awning on the driver side of the MH.
I just added a bolt to the support bracket for the roller tube.  Making it solid again.

For the rest of the day, I did a few small things here and there.  Michele spent most of the day reading.

Tuesday January 15, 2019

It rained all night and it kept raining all morning too.  This is rare for this time of the year in Yuma.  Maybe it is because we are here that it rains?

I used this time to finish the next update for the blog.

It was still raining in the afternoon.  Before we head to Quartzsite Thursday, we went for some groceries at Walmart.

It was bingo night, the last one here for us.
It was Michele's turn to be the winner.  She won $29 and it only cost us $12 to play, not bad.
We have been very lucky at bingo this year.

Until next time.

Life is good...
