Thursday August 1, 2019

I finally took some photos of Gabriel's report card from his swimming lessons.

Kristin continues painting the baby's room.

The end result. At first glance, the white stripes may seem overwhelming, but when all the furniture will be in the room, it will look great.

Jeremy can't keep a serious face.

Jeremy received his voltmeter gage for the boat battery. He is installing it.

It looks pretty good. Now we can monitor the battery's charge at all time.

Friday August 2, 2019

Friday morning and we are on the move again.
We are going to Wakamow for a week (again), our last camping trip for this year in Moose Jaw.

We have site 66 this time. It is the first time we have it and it is a very good site. The only draw back is the satellite dish cannot get signal here.

The site is at the end of a street.

Asher could not wait to see Gabriel.

It is a very hot day today. Gabriel is telling me about his day.

We are pretty happy with this site.

Saturday August 3, 2019

The blue face of Gabriel!

Asher came early today. He really wants to play with Gabriel.

They play so well together.

Hannah, Asher's mom, came over for a visit.

Look at that face?

Gabriel loves playing Racko.

One more fishing trip, this one about 200 meters away, at the dock.
Gabriel caught some more crawfishes.

What a fisherman!

The crawfish may be small, but they do pinch little boys fingers.

Jeremy and Kristin brought their BBQ from home because tomorrow, Kristin's family will be over for the diner.
For tonight, we are having salmon with baked potatoes and carrots covered with cheese.

Shoot! Forgot to take photos!
Gabriel even skyped with his mom in Red Deer.

After a good shower, Gabriel has a snack while looking at the propane camp fire.

A good day.

Sunday August 4, 2019

We are going fishing this morning, but without the boat, too windy.

We are at the dam of Buffalo Pound Lake.

Gabriel wanted to do a military salute.

"Where is my lure?"

"Ah, now I see it!"

No luck at the dam. We moved to the lake and it was not better.

I have to say, the water is disgusting now.

Back at the campground, Hannah came for a visit. She was telling us some stories about her parents growing up in South Africa.
Hannah and her husband are very nice people.

Gabriel, Asher and Ella are fishing for minnows.

They are very lucky.
Gabriel caught more crawfish.

Jeremy and Kristin are hosting Kristin's family at our site. They are very nice people.

A simple meal, but so delicious.

Gabriel is operating on a tree.

Another very good week.
We are staying in Wakamow until Friday.

Monday August 5, 2019

Kristin, Jeremy and Gabriel left for Diefenbaker Lake to go fishing.

Gabriel had to get up early.

They are back just after lunch. Jeremy was the only one who caught a fish.
They had a very good day on the water. They even had some big ice cream cones on the way back.

We enjoy the warm weather while it is here.

We are having chicken wrapped in bacon for supper.

Gabriel loves it.

Kristin and Jeremy are going home to sleep. They are working tomorrow morning. The holiday are over for both of them.

Gabriel is watching the movie Ferdinand.

Gabriel literally falls asleep.

Tuesday august 6, 2019

Grand-maman is buried under all the pillows. Thanks to Gabriel!

Grand-maman found some Legos at some yard sales. Gabriel is building one of them right now.

The two boys are playing together with me watching them!

Michele made some crepe for lunch.
What kids would not love it? All that brown sugar and maple syrup.

Sugar high!

Asher and Ella came over to play.
Jeremy came over for supper. Kristin came over too and decided to stay for supper.
Ella loves Jeremy.

We had pizza for supper.

Wednesday August 7, 2019

The last two mornings were a little colder, nice.
Look at those two orange Superheroes.

Kids and bugs, hours of fun.

Some blueberry for dessert.

And ice cream too.

Crazy moments!

And the hunt for bugs goes on.

Jeremy is here to pick up Gabriel and go to the pool together.
They will watch the movie Top Gun later on.

Gabriel will stay at home. We will be "Gabriel'less" for the night!

Thursday August 8, 2019

Jeremy dropped off Gabriel at 7 am.

Gabriel and I decided to go out for breakfast. Michele is not coming.
A man's breakfast! Coffee and bacon.

When we got back home, we woke up grand-maman.
The weather is still cool in the morning, nice.

Michele is laughing at Gabriel.

Gabriel's front tooth is coming along pretty fast.

Gabriel is playing alone this morning because Asher has swimming lessons.
We started the campfire because with the wind later on, Gabriel may not have the chance to see the campfire.

You have to have your cars lined up!

He is even giving me a hand with the web page.

Gabriel wants me to cut and sharpen a branch, so he can use it as a spear for the bugs.

This is the first time we use our sandwich maker since we bought it many years back.

We are keeping Asher for lunch. They love the sandwich made in the sandwich maker.

This tree is the home of the bugs they call "Potatoes Bugs."
They are rid, but do not bite.
Two boys happy to play with bugs.

We had a very good day and Gabriel falls asleep quickly.

Jeremy went fishing with Kristin tonight and Kristin caught a carp and Jeremy brought it to shore for her.
The carp weight over 10 lbs. Some carps area over 20 lbs in this river.

Tomorrow we are going back to Jeremy and Kristin's home.

Friday august 9, 2019

Last morning is Wakamow.
It is Gabriel's turn to be buried under the pillows.

Asher and Ella are here playing with Gabriel for the last time.

All good things must come to an end!
Gabriel is going back home with grand-maman and as they were driving out the campground, Asher came to say goodbye to Gabriel.
I was waiting at the dumps station to dump our tanks when I saw Asher coming back to his trailer with his face all sad and crying a little.
He will miss Gabriel, poor little guy!

It is very hot today with a +30° C with 90 % humidity, not fun.
With this type of weather, we have chances of thunderstorms.
We get the MH set up quickly before we cook in there.
We did have a nice thunderstorm.

Gabriel got to play World of Tanks on the computer.

With the rain, the temperature is dropping but not the humidity.

Saturday August 10, 2019

A morning at home with family.

Nutella toast and cheesy eggs for breakfast.

Right after lunch Jeremy, Gabriel and I went to Buffalo Pound for fishing.

But first, we have to make our annual pilgrimage at the reserve unit to look mat all the tanks and other military vehicles.
Gabriel and Jeremy are in the stealth tank.

The big tow truck.

With Gabriel happy, we head out to the dam of Buffalo Pound.
Jeremy is cutting a path to the river.

Jeremy has two fishing lines in the water, one is mine!
So far no bites.

Gabriel is hunting bugs on the other side of the road by the lake.

Gabriel caught a garden snake. He is very happy.

Kristin had made pineapple ham for supper.

The boys!

A good family meal.

Gabriel in dad's room watching a movie before bed.

A good day.

Sunday August 11, 2019

Kristin continues painting the baby's furniture.

What a face!

Jeremy borrowed a pressure washer from work for the weekend.
I am cleaning our sun shade for the MH.

I also clean our chairs.
Grand-maman and Gabriel harvest some peas in the garden.

Once all my cleaning was done, I helped them pick the peas.

A good harvest.

We found a crack (2 inches long) in Jeremy's boat.
Jeremy asked his friend, a metal tech, to help in fixing the crack.
On the left photo, you can kind of see the crack. On the right photo, the arrows indicate the stop drill used to prevent the crack from growing. All the other holes are for the rivets that will hold the patch in place.

The patch is done.

A relaxing moment before supper.

Another good week with family.

Monday August 12, 2019

We are having a rainy day today. The kids can play indoor for the day, a treat.
Joshua came to play with Gabriel for the most part of the day. Joshua is leaving Wednesday morning to go to Ontario to visit his grand-parents. This is one of the last times he will be playing with Gabriel this summer.

We even played a game of bowling on the Wii.

What a day.

Tuesday August 13, 2019

The weather is on the cool side with no rain. Time to wash the MH. It was some dirty.

Clean and shinny.

Michele is "shaving" Kristin and Jeremy's comforter.

With all the rain we got yesterday, the ditch has filled up again. Let's hope the water will disappear faster this time around.

The family waiting for supper.

Gabriel talks a lot during the meals.

Another good day.
Joshua came here again to play with Gabriel. They will see each other next summer.

Wednesday August 14, 2019

I am tackling another project today. I will add a support to our bed.
Why? Because when we both are in bed, we roll down the middle of the bed. The plywood on which the mattress sits on is only 3/8" thick. Not strong enough.

I am adding a middle support on the forward part of the base.
The arrows indicate where I added 2X4".

I reinstall the cover for the slide mechanism.

We had to empty the space under the bed, so I could have room to work.

With the mattress in place, it seems like nothing has changed. We will see tonight.

Gabriel is ready to go fishing with dad and grand-maman.

On their way to Buffalo Pound.

Michele and Jeremy.

And Gabriel. The arrow point to a Styrofoam cube used to hold the lure when moving around the lake.

Gabriel.

The three fishermen.

The sun is going down, time to head home.

Jeremy shows Gabriel how to drive the boat with the electric motor.

He is good enough to drive by himself.

Time to get the boat out of the water.

Our fishermen had a good time, but caught no fish.

While I was putting paperwork away, I came across this old photo of Michele and I. It is from around 1983 when we were stationed in Chatham, New-Brunswick.

Thursday August 15, 2019

It is a special day for Gabriel.

But first, let get some craziness going!

This is the reason for the special day.
Asher and Ella came over to play. They got here before lunch and will leave late afternoon.
As for us, we have Hannah.

Two best friends.

Ella too is a friend, but Ella is younger and sometime wants to play by herself.

We had good conversation with Hannah, lots of laughter. She is a nice person and a friend.

Sadly, all things must come to an end. Hannah and the kids have to go back home.
See you next summer!

The cat is very tired after all the action in the house.

Gabriel asked us if he could sleep in the MH tonight.
Of course! He is very tired.

Gabriel loves watching TV in the bedroom.

Funny feet!

When we go to bed, Gabriel has to move from our bed to the bed in the living room.
What a bed hair!

He may look awake, but in a few seconds he will be sound asleep.

For the last few days, Gabriel has a dry cough. We talked to the pharmacist and he recommended a cough medicine. It seems to help a little.
Update for the bed. We slept very well last night.

Until next time.

Life is good...
