Friday August 16, 2019

Kristin is not working today. She is putting the finishing touch on the baby furniture.
It turned out very nice.

Kristin declined to come for the Chinese buffet today. She still has a lot to do.
So we went with Gabriel.

The buffet was OK, limited choice, but good.

After we got back home, I continued working on the next update for the blog.

Kristin prepared a very nice spaghetti for supper.

Gabriel is sleeping in the MH again. He falls asleep so fast.

Saturday August 17, 2019

Michele and I had a weird night of sleep!
Don't know why!

The baby furniture is almost all in the baby's room. Remember, we do not know if it is a boy or a girl yet.

Jeremy and Kristin are in full packing mode for the holiday trip.
Yet, Jeremy still finds the time to cut the grass.

Gabriel forgot what time it was, Jeremy went to get him for supper, nothing big, normal stuff for a kid.

The happy family.

Some craziness !

Gabriel is sleeping in the MH tonight.
What a snack plate!!!

And Michele is sleeping too!

Sunday August 18, 2019

Today is the base wide yard sale.
Shortly after 7 am, I took the stuff Jeremy and Kristin wanted to sell by the street.
Shorty after that, Jeremy and Gabriel came to "assist" me in the selling.

We only have a few things to sell, but they must go!

Jeremy sold for $70 worth of stuff and he was left with only one item not sold.

We shut down the yard sale by 10 am and we get ready to go fishing at the Buffalo Pound Dam.

We have three birds watching us! Can you see the three pelicans?

Jeremy and Gabriel went a little further down stream, but had no luck.

Gabriel is one happy young boy. Shallow water with lots of weed equal minnows, frogs and snakes.

We are back home by 1.30 pm. Jeremy and Kristin pack the last stuff for tomorrow.

Jeremy and Gabriel went to see the movie Angry Birds 2 in 3D after supper. Kristin had to go to the hospitals. She got called in.

Jeremy and Gabriel loved the movie.

Monday August 19, 2019

Time to move.
Those two boys can't wait to go.

The cool fisherman!

A pussy cat that needs love.

Jeremy and Gabriel are ready to go, but Kristin has been call to work early this morning. They just have to wait until she comes back home.

Kristin made it back home by 9ich and they left shortly after that.

And off they go!

Jeremy sent some photos of the set up they have at Candle Lake.
Can you see Gabriel? He is under a tree behind Kristin.

We have been invited at Kristin's parents for supper. They live in Regina.
From L to R, John (dad) Audrey (mom) and Monica (Audrey's sister).

We had a good meal and good conversation. They are really nice people.

On our way home from Regina.

While we were in Regina, Michele found a used laptop for Benoit. After checking it out, we bought it for Benoit.

Tuesday August 20, 2019

We are having a lazy morning.
For the afternoon, I decided to do some preventive maintenance on the MH.
Like changing the sealant on the corner of the roof from white to black sealant, looks better.
I will also replace the sealant all around the roof between the roof and the quarter-round. When it was done at the factory, they put very little sealant and it is no longer doing its job properly.

The corner looks better now.

We received some photo from Jeremy and Kristin.
The two fishermen. Great father and son moments.

Jeremy caught a trout and Gabriel pulled it in. Team work.

Wednesday August 21, 2019

The weather is nice. So I keep going on my preventive/improvement maintenance chores.
Here is the "to-do list".

I clean the under side of the fridge and at the same time I make sure the fridge is still held in place properly and securely.

As you know, when you drive down the road in a MH, everything shakes, rattle and move, becoming loose aver time.
This time I check the water system and in all the water connections. That means all the drain connections as well as the cold and hot water connections. Some of the drain connection were just a little loose. Normal. Make you house travel 10,000 km on the road and see what comes loose!

Next, cleaning the AC filter, or should I say change the filters. I also make sure they are mounted tight.

I add a furnace heater filter to the air intake of the furnace.

I check that the rear ladder is still attached properly to the MH. Some screws do get loose over time.

Last job of the day. Check/add water to the battery bank. As usual and normal, I had to add about 1 liter and half of water total.

While I have access to the battery bank, I install my temporary battery monitor gauge. This helps me monitor the batteries condition while we travel back to Ontario.

Michele was busy inside too. A good day.

And for Kristin, Jeremy and Gabriel?
Fun at the beach.

Jeremy mentioned that Gabriel was having a hard time staying awake at the campfire at night.

They are having a great time.

Thursday August 22, 2019

Campfire, fishing and hiking, a great time for Gabriel.

Meanwhile, I went to dump the used water from the MH at Wakamow River Park campground. Not bad for only $10.

Jeremy was fly fishing for the first time and he loves it.

Jeremy had caught a pike and when Gabriel tried to catch it with the net, the pike got unhooked.

Even if they are hundreds of kilometers north of us, they have the same weather as us in the evening. Lots of rain.
Time for board games.

At the end of the day, Gabriel is just dead. Look at how he falls asleep!

They will be coming back tomorrow.

Friday August 23, 2019

They hit the road by 9.30 am.

Here they come.

Kristin had a lot of fun and she told us all about it.

While waiting to supper, Gabriel will be digging for some shark tooth.

Hard at work.

It is easier with you tongue sticking out ...

Gabriel is explaining everything to me!

Pizza night.

Gabriel spent almost an hour in the bathtub.

His last sleep over with grand-maman in the MH.
Look at the many rings.

Laying on a pillow on grand-maman.

Jeremy,Kristin and Gabriel had a very good holiday. They told us all about it.

Saturday August 24, 2019

Kristin, Jeremy and Gabriel invited us for breakfast at Humpty's this morning. Thanks you guys.

Gabriel told us he taught his face was too small in pictures, here is a BIG face, Gabriel.

The afternoon was spent packing up the car and the MH for our trip east tomorrow. I put the two bikes in the car along with other small stuff.

I could not believe how roomy the basement is when you do not have 10 cases of 30 beers in there.

Tomorrow morning Kristin and Jeremy are going to Medicine Hat to drop off Gabriel with his mom.
As for us, time to head back to Ontario and Quebec.

Sunday August 25, 2019

Getting ready to leave. We are heading east and they are heading west.

Jeremy ready to move his car so we can get the MH out of the driveway.

Kristin with baby.

The family we love.

We only have to hook up the car to the MH and we are ready to go.

As we arrived in Regina, we saw this big cloud in the distance.

Good thing it is north of the city.

We are thinking!

We treat ourselves to a Subway sub.

With our belly full, we are ready to get back on the road.

Welcome to Manitoba and we move up the clock by one hour.

A field of marshmallow.

The road is nice with some light rain here and there. We were supposed to spent one or two nights at Robbyn, but she has an interview for a new job and she will not be home. So we keep on driving.

After driving over 635 km, we arrived in Winnipeg.
We are on our way to the Canadian Tire gas bar, but once there, the fuel island is only 11' 6" high. We do not fit under it. Let's go to the Flying J!

With the MH full of gas, we head to the local Walmart to spend the night.
We had a thunder storm and lots of rain during the evening.

It was an 8 hour of driving for us, way too much.

Monday August 26, 2019

We left Winnipeg without any problems. We are back on the road by 9:30 am.
Shortly after leaving Winnipeg, we enter the Canadian Shield and the Boreal forest and Ontario.
This is my kind of country.

A quick stop at the information center to relieve the bladder!

Back on the road and going around Kenora towards Thunder Bay.

There is still some road construction, but a lot less than in the past.

One more night at a Walmart, this one in Dryden. We are very close to the highway 17.

We drove over 375 km today with some rain during the day.

We are traveling a little too fast. We can only get our site in Trenton on September 2. We will adjust our travel time over the next few days.

Tuesday August 27, 2019

Guess what? It is raining again! We left the Walmart at 9:30 am.

Our driving day, construction, abandoned church, construction, wine purchases in Thunder Bay.

On the east side of Thunder Bay, the road becomes a divided highway, real nice.

We made it to Nipigon by 4 pm. We will spend two nights here.

Our site.

We traveled less kilometers today, but it is a more winding road.

We only have two services at this site. It is still a nice site.

We got an email from Benoit. All is good with him. His friend from Edmonton, Alberta, came down to Montreal and visited Benoit during the Pride parade. She is a very good and close friend to Benoit.

Wednesday August 28, 2019

I finished the update for the blog this morning. Once it was up and running, we went to the local Thrift Store.

I also went to the Ministry of Natural Resource and Forestry to ask if it is true that as veterans we do not need a fishing license.
The answer was simple, yes, all we need is a valid military or veteran ID card to fish in Ontario. A lot easier that Saskatchewan!

Before we went home, we had decided to check out the observation tower in Nipigon.

A beautiful view of the Nipigon River.

And a view of the new bridge on the Nipigon River.

Overall, it was a relaxing day.
We took a walk around the campground. I worked a little on the next update for the blog. Almost made a reservation at the next campground near Moonbeam. A good day.

Thursday August 29, 2019

We are back on the road.
The MH gas gauge started to make noise to let us know we really need gas.
We are filling up on the Indian reserve. It is $0.25 cheaper that the local gas stations. We filled up with 284 lites of gas and we saved $71.

We had rain most of the day. It is not fun to drive that long with your wipers running all the time.

We arrived at Longlac, near Long Lake.

We stop for a coffee and some donuts at Robin's Donut.

We are almost at our next destination.
The name Kapuskasing means "a bend in the river" in the Crie language.

Our campground is 5 km north of the town of Moonbeam.

A good and long day, more that 530 km driven and most of it under the rain.

Friday August 30, 2019

I started a back ache yesterday and this morning it is bad.  A little ointment and it feels a little better.
In between rain shower, I went for a few walks.
Our site is OK. With Passport America we only pay $20 per night.

Remi Lake, just across the road from the campground.  Nice lake, but we saw nobody on the lake today! The campground does not even fill up tonight.

This campground is mostly seasonal campers. The price is right, we will come back.

Saturday August 31, 2019

Time to hit the road again. The view as we come out of the campground. It is even sunny.

The roads we were on.

In some area, the Mennonites are present.
The road shoulders are wider that usual when Mennonites are present in the area.

We enter another watershed.

Close to 375 km today, with rain almost the whole way.

We are spending the night at the Walmart in North Bay.

Until next time.

Life is good...
