Sunday June 16, 2019

It is a sunny and warm day.
We took other walk in the RV Park.
Can you see the kind of dark cloud in the water, on the left?

They are hundreds of tadpoles.

We are doing more planning for our trip to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Monday June 17, 2019

Michele has her last appointment with the massage therapist, Myself, I stayed back home and helped Jan to lengthen two campsites already done with gravel.

After that, Michele was watching the Raptors' parade in Toronto on tv.  More then one million people were attending the parade. WOW!

We saw many interviews with key players of the Raptors, like Fred Vanvleet. He played very well.

After this half day of work, time for a beer and a book to relax.

This is more then likely my last day helping at the RV Park. I really enjoyed giving a hand to Jan, I think we do work well together.

Tuesday June 18, 2019

This time I went with Michele for her last appointment with the physiotherapist. Michele's back is doing very good.

Tonight, we are invited at Jannie and Jan's place for dinner. This is a farewell dinner as well as a thank you diner.
I am baking desert, a Poor's Man pudding. They love it.

As usual, Jannie prepared a very nice and tasty meal.

And the crazy photo!

Jannie, Patricia and Jan gave me a gift for the help I gave them during our stay.

This is what was in the bag...
A "staff" T-shirt, nice.

Two beer mugs like the one used at the Pub Night.

And to top it all off, a Certificate of Appreciation from Jannie, Patricia and Jan. WOW! The certificate is also a reference to the one I was the instigator for Patricia a few weeks ago.

I was quite surprised to receive the gifts. Thank you very much Jannie, Patricia and Jan. It is very much appreciated, more then you may think.

Wednesday June 19, 2019

A nice quiet day at home. I spent part of the morning working on the next update of the web page. We got some more stuff ready for our trip tomorrow.
At one pm, I have my appointment with my cardiologist for my follow up on my tests.
The cardiologist tells me I should get a Nuclear Scan to eliminate possible problems with my heart. "Sure," I said, "but you told me not to worry and still go to Saskatchewan tomorrow!!!" Then he asked me if I had any chest pain when I was doing manual work. "No," I said. So, he tells me, "go to Saskatchewan and when you come back we will do the Nuclear Scan."  The cardiologist did not seem to worry at all about my heart. A very good sigh don't you think? So off we go to Saskatchewan.

Back home, we saw Jannie working on a flower bed.

We hooked up the car to the MH for the trip to Saskatchewan.

I also went to check out the shoreline, at the water a last time.

The water level is stable.

A camper even built a ramp to get to his dock. The water level is too high, even for rubber boots.

One of the two pumps I kind of looked after.

Jannie showed us the new handout they give to campers when they come in for the first time.

A good day.

Thursday June 20, 2019

Time to travel!
At 7:45 we are ready to go.
Jannie and Jan came by to wish us a good trip. A few minutes later, Patricia came by to wish us a good trip too. We left after some hugs and a promise to come back in September.

As soon as we got to the 401, the rain started.

We are taking a different route to North Bay this time around. We are going by Lindsay to get to highway 11 north. We also fueled the MH in Lindsay. This is probably the last time we see gas this cheap for a while.

We drove through a few small towns. We do not know why all the bikes were painted blue.

In the Lindsay area, it is cottage country. There are so many "toy" stores catering to the cottage crowd.

Even with all the construction going on, the roads are pretty good.

After a little more then 600 km on the road, we stop at the Walmart in New Liskeard, Ontario for the night. 600 km is a long day of driving for us.

This Walmart is a good place to spend the night, but the road noise is pretty loud with all the trucks going by. For free, you can't complain.

It is the first time we saw a truck camper like this one. It is built in Ohio and the design is more European.

This is the road we traveled today.

As I said, it was a long day of driving for us.

Friday June 21, 2019

Because of all the truck going by, we woke up early and hit the road.
We are taking Highway 11 to get to Manitoba. It is the northern route of Ontario.

We normally stop at Flying J to gas-up the MH. We get a discount with them, but with our Canadian Tire credit card, we get a better discount at Canadian Tire gas bar. Next gasoline stop is in Cochrane, Ontario.

We are a little surprised at the number of road construction sites we came across this time around.

Shorty after Smooth Rock Falls, I had to take a quick nap before I could continued.

The road is very nice, but we have a head wind all day. Not good for your gas millage!

Our next stop for the night is in Longlac at the un-official truck stop. We dropped by our friends Pearl and Andy for the evening. It was a pleasure to see them again.

Another 600+ km driving day for us.

Why are we taking Hwy 11 vice Hwy 17?
Simply because Hwy 11 is more flat, less transport trucks on the road and the difference in kilometers is negligible.
Highway 17 has more transport truck and has more big hills.

Saturday June 22, 2019

Once again, we are on the road by 7 am.
No winds! Look at the lake, not a ripple.

More construction sites.

Helen Lake near Nipigon.

Our next gasoline stop is at the Indian Reserve of Lake Helen. A few kilometers later, outside the reserve, the gasoline is at $1.349/liter!

The "Nipigon River Bridge". Pretty creative for a bridge name don't you think?

This is a $106 millions bridge, plus up to 30 million more for the repair when some bolts broke in 2017.

While I was cleaning the windshield, Michele went and got us some Tim Horton coffee. Team work!

Tonight, we are spending the night at a campground. The Davy Lake campground is part of the Passport America club and we pay only 50% of the regular price. The cost is $23.75 for two services.

For the first time we have a restriction, if you use the Passport America discount, you have to wait until after 5 pm to plug-in the electricity!
It was explained that the cost of electricity is very expensive in Northern Ontario. Since we got in at 2:30 pm, we could pay $45 and plug-in right away or wait until 5 pm and them plug-in for $23.75. We are cheap, so we waited until 5 pm to plug-in!

Now, that is a good-looking Golf Cart!

A shorter day today, only 531 km.

Most of the roads were very good with a few rough areas.

Sunday June 23, 2019

We started the day with light rain.

As we were waiting for the signal to go a head, a different person came to replace the "other" guy, the new guy had to put on his rain jacket. He simply asked the car driver to hold his stop sign while he put on his rain jacket! Why not! This has put a smile on the people who witness this simple act of kindness.

It is hard to drive a MH.

Manitoba! Here we come...
That is after more then 2070 km of driving in Ontario! Ontario is huge.

Manitoba is finally fixing up the TransCanada Highway. That road was very very bad. The other option was to convert it back to a gravel road it was that bad!!!

We are getting tired of long days on the road. We are spending the night at Rock Garden Campground for $18.90 per night with the Passport America discount.

We are very familiar with this site.

A little less then 400 km today. The road was more "twisty" and in a not so good of a shape.

We decide not to stop at our friend Robbyn's place this time. We just want to get to our son's place as soon as possible.

Monday June 24, 2019

We are back on the road and the roads are in a much better shape today.

One last stop for gasoline at the Flying J in Winnipeg. I really like this Flying J because it is very easy to get in and get out with the MH.

And it is cheap, I even get an extra $0.03 off per liter with my card Flying J.

This is our last night camping before we get to Jeremy and Kristin's place.

This campground is part of a small exhibition ground in Elkhorn. This evening, they have some kind of competition going on.

It was a short day with only 386 km of driving.

We were supposed to have stopped at Robbyn's place, but we wanted to get to Jeremy and Kristin's place ASAP.

Tuesday June 25, 2019

Our last day on the road.
Going through Regina was pretty easy even with all the construction going on.

Moose Jaw's Welcome sign with a nice garbage dump in the background. Bravo!

Jeremy did mention they had a lot of rain, but this is too much...

Only 344 km today.
We made the trip from Trenton, Ontario to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan pretty fast this year. Usually, we take a lot more time.

We arrived at Jeremy's place at noon. Jeremy showed up a few minutes later. Shoot! I forgot to take photos...
Kristin arrived after work, 5 pm, and we forgot to take photos again!!!

Wednesday June 26, 2019

This morning, I am off to Canadian Tire for an oil change on the car. It is a free one.

So, I went to A&W for breakfast.

We talked to Jeremy about the possibility of adding another phone to his family plan. Michele wants a phone for security/safety reasons. So, we went to The Source store and talked to the lady that Jeremy always talks to. She explained all the options available, but she also mentioned that we should wait until Friday to do it, if we do want it. I guess we will wait until Friday and see what kind of better we will get.

Thursday June 27, 2019

A nice and easy day at home, still unpacking, slowly.

Friday June 28, 2019

This morning, we went to town to do some shopping. Jeremy texted us about going to The Source for the phones. We met there.
We came out of The Source with a new, free Samsung Galaxie S9 for Jeremy.  For Denis, Jeremy's old Samsung Galaxie S8 phone and for Michele, the older Samsung Galaxie S6 we already had. The plan we are on for myself and Michele is free unlimited call/text Canada/US for $100 a month. The plan comes with 20 GB of data Canada/US shareable between all three phones.
Not bad at all.
Thanks Jeremy.

With the phone deal done, Jeremy and I drove to Regina to have a look at a fishing boat Jeremy may want to buy.
After looking at the boat and the accessories, listening to the motor running for a bit, Jeremy decides to buy it.
Here we are home with the boat.

After Jeremy had removed all the "stuff" from the boat, they did a really good cleaning of the inside.

Tomorrow, we will try all the other stuff. We already know the motor works well.
The day ends with a big thunderstorm and lots of rain.

Saturday June 29, 2019

We woke up to a nice and sunny day, but look at the water in the ditch? And the back yard?

I finally get to wash the MH. I just washed the front and it took me over an hour to get the bugs off. I guess we had bugs from Ontario on there too!

Kristin and Jeremy coming back from shopping for Saturday's B-B-Q  at Kristin's sister, Erin.

With the sun shinning, it did not take long to dry off the inside of the boat.

The deal came with an electric motor, two new tires on rims and a cover for the boat.

Of course, the motor!

A small pause to check out the nice flowers.

As for myself, I continue washing the MH. I also dry it out to keep the water spot at a minimum. You can see the difference between the washed part and the not washed part.

Jeremy and Michele are changing the wiring of the boat trailer.
By the way, the new lights for the trailer came with the deal.

For a few minutes, we even had the taught of putting the boat in the water in the ditch.

The pros at work.

They work pretty good together.

After a few hours, I got half of the MH washed. Jeremy and Michele are done with the trailer's wiring and it works too!

Jeremy plays with his new anchor.

After a well deserved break, Jeremy wanted to try the electric motor.
The electric motor works very well.

Time to try the gas motor again...

In less than 3 pull on the handle, the motor stared right up. It runs very well too.

Almost all of the accessories are on the boat now.

We all had a good day. Tomorrow Jeremy and Kristin will be going to Medicine Hat to pick up Gabriel.
As for us, we stay home.

Sunday June 30, 2019

Jeremy and Kristin left at around 7 am this morning. Medicine Hat is four hours away from Moose Jaw. Then, they have to drive back here, another 4 hours of driving.
Gabriel playing shy...

Gabriel sure sticks close to his father.

Kristin talks to Michele.

One happy boy getting back to his toys.

Gabriel brought his bicycle with him for the summer. Jeremy had a few adjustments to make it safer.
Ready for a ride.

Michele and I were waiting for them.

Back from his bike ride and tired.

The grass is somewhat dry, time to cut it.

I finished washing the MH. The MH sure looks good now. Michele and I spent a lot of time on our 'new' phones, specially with free, unlimited internet!

Until next time.

Life is good...
