The strong winds are over.
Time to go around the house and check for damages.
It is kind of sad to see more trees dead in the RV Park. They lost many trees because of the flood and now this wind...

This dock was blocking the access to the boat ramp. The wind flipped it.

Some of the fascia on the house got flipped over.

We got a surprise this morning, no more heat or hot water in the house.
I left a message for Jan, shortly after, Patricia and Jan were here and looking for the problem. They quickly found the cause. They did a temporary fix by shaking the pressure relief valve. It works, but it still needs to be changed. Sometime this week, we will go to Belleville and buy the new part. We have heat and hot water for now.

I did something terrible, I did not remove my shoes and walked into the living room!
Can you see the prints on the floor? I got told!

A crew showed up to place the sod on the front lawn. It is to cover the septic field.

They work pretty fast.

Almost done.

Doesn't it look good?

Jan has talked to Hydro One. He was told not to expect to have the power back on today. Jan brought more jerry cans of gasoline.

We are invited for supper. Jannie told us we can come over for a warm meal at her place. Again, we had a good supper.

When we got back home, we watched TV since the generator was running anyway. Jan calls us a short while later to tell us the electricity is back on! I guess they worked faster than they expected.

Not only did we lose power, but we also lost TV, sometimes. TV receptions came and went since Sunday.
I borrowed a ladder from Jan to check out the Bell satellite dish alignment. It turns out the wind almost knocked the dish off. I had to replace two of the long screws to keep it from falling off. We now have 98 % signal.

We took a long walk around the RV Park. We looked at all the stuff that was moved around by the wind. More trees were down. No trees fell on any RVs.

Jan and Patricia came over this morning to remove the pressure regulator so we could go and buy a new one. Since we are already going to Belleville anyway, why not.

Our first stop is at the chiro for me.

The next stop is for Michele. It is in Belleville at BioPed. She is buying sleepers. As she was looking at sleepers, Tim, the owner, tells us that Veteran's Affair now pays for one orthodontic a year vice one every two years. Because of that, she can not get another one before the end of 2020. We make an appointment for next week.

Our last stop is at Bardon Supplies to buy the pressure relief valve.

When we got back home, I installed the valve, restarted the furnace and hot water tank. Everything is working fine now.

It was a busy day.

Our sweet grand-daughter, 10 months old, how time flies.

Jan and Patricia are cutting the tree  that came down during the wind storm.

At least the dirt came back down, almost in place

I have my first appointment at the physio this afternoon.

I come out with a series of exercises to help solidify my back and belly.

Over the last few months, I have been looking for used folding bikes to replace our regular bikes. I found these on Market Place. They are Nakamura, Skyline for $300 for both.
We will go check them out tomorrow morning. This photo is from the seller.

Since the weather will turn cooler if not colder, in a few days, I unplugged the MH and started the generator for "exercise". What I mean is, it is more damageable to let a generator sit for long periods not running than run it a few times during winter. Also, by exercise, it means to apply a load to the generator, like the AC and an electric heater. I let the generator run for about an hour.

In the meantime, I check the water level in the batteries and add distilled water as needed.

When done with the batteries, I plug in the MH and shut down the generator. I check that the smart charger that came with the MH is going into "de-sulphating" mode. It is. What that means is the charging steps are different than a normal charge. It kind of "shake" the batteries during charging to remove any sulphating inside the batteries. It really extends the life of the batteries.

With all that done, Michele gives me a hand to place the front of the MH on blocks. This is to force all the rain and melting snow to drain in the back of the MH.

A lot was accomplished today.

Saturday, November 21, 2020.

At 9 am, we were at the seller's place to check out the folding bikes. I tried them, they are in very good shape, we bought them. They even come with the carrying bags.
Here is one bike in the bag.

The other bike. We got them for $250 for both.

After I made a few adjustments, we tried them around the RV Park. They ride very nice. Now I will have to sell our two old bikes.

For the first time, we use the self-cleaning option for the oven. This is the before.

The after with the ashes at the bottom.

With the final wipe down.

Sunday, November 22, 2020

It started to snow this morning. A few more adjustments on the bike. We are off to the RV Park.

The two winter cyclists. We are very happy with our folding bikes.

When we got back home, Michele prepared a nice salad for lunch.

Michele found the stuff to really clean the stovetop.

Look at how clean it is now.

It is still snowing.

More snow!

Michele took this photo to send to Benoit.
Michele says that since we will be in Canada for the winter. Might as well have lots of snow.

What do you do on a snowy day? Read a good book.

And rest the eyes too!

Kristin sends us many photos of Natasha. These are the ones from today. Kristin is very good with her camera.

Jeremy and his daughter, sharing special moment together.

Beautiful morning with sunny skies and snow!

Michele had one more appointment at BioPed. This time is it for new orthodontics. As for me, I had my first ever massage. It really helped my back.

Tuesday, November 24, 2020

We are, oh, so busy!  Michele had to go back for some more stuff from the grocery store.
While Michele was at Walmart, when she tried to get out of the car, the door handle breaks! She does not want to use the outside door handle for fear this one will break too. She gets out by the passenger door. Let's see if I can fix this.

I take the door handle off the door. Sure enough, the little part that holds the cable is broken. It is broken at the "/" mark.
I will look for a replacement online.

When Jan and Patrician came in for coffee break, Patricia mentioned she might have one like that at home.

Coming back from my physio appointment, I notice the kilometres on the car.
166,666.00.

When I look at that photo with Natasha, it seems like the food is better when you have no plates and get dirty.

Our friends Jannie and Jan are coming for supper. I make the BBQ Sauce chicken with pineapple jam.
Don't get excited, Jan and Jannie are part of our "bubble".

After a good meal, time to play some board games. We played "THE a MAZE ing LABYRINTH". We had lots of fun.

It was a good evening.

Wednesday, November 25, 2020

Yesterday the snow was almost gone. Now, look at this?

We had a quiet day at home. The rain started around supper time.

Thursday, November 26, 2020

Again! No more snow.

This afternoon I had my appointment with my cardiologist for a follow-up. All it good.

Michele found some Barbies of Market Place, she bought them. We will pick them up tomorrow morning.

Friday, November 27, 2020

Happy Birthday, Jeremy!

It is 7:30 am and we are already on the way out the RV Park!

We are going to PEC (Prince Edward County) to pick-up the Barbies. It is about 45 minutes away from home.
It is in farm country.

On the way back, we stop at the GM dealership to buy a new door handle for the car. Patricia did not have it after all.
It is installed in no time.

This is what Michele bought!

Just to make sure, she washes them all.

The clothes that came with the bundle.

Later, I gave Jan a hand for about one hour in the RV Park.

This is the cake Kristin did for Jeremy.
It is about ice fishing.

Talking about fishing, ice fishing has started already in Saskatchewan.
Jeremy's tent is the one on the right. The one on the left used to be his, but it belongs to his friend now.

His tent is big enough to sleep in. He wants to spend one night fishing with Gabriel when he come for the Christmas Holidays.

Jeremy told me the ice is already over 6 inches thick.

The two love birds. They are without a baby for a few hours.

Preparing my breakfast.

My breakfast.

We took a long walk in the RV Park this afternoon.

Sunday, November 29, 2020

I went around the RV Park again this morning. My back feels fine.

It is Jan's birthday today. We dropped by to celebrate (within our bubble). It was simple and lots of fun.

Happy Birthday, Jan.

Monday, November 30, 2020

Today turns out to be a busy day.
In the morning, I went for my last massage. I came out with more pain than going in! Sometimes it happens. We will see how it goes in a few days.
Michele had her appointment at BioPed in Belleville. It is only to pick up her new orthodontics. All is good for that.

We also received our power supply for our Wii. The Wii is working now.

This is kind of a weird photo of Natasha. She is holding Jeremy's new ice scoop for ice fishing.

It was a good day.

Until next time.

Life is good...
