Monday, March 16, 2020

Another hot and humid day. We spent a few hours in the pool in the afternoon.
As usual, cocktail time before supper time.

Our son Jeremy in Saskatchewan caught a 10-pound pike.

Today I received an email from our travel/health insurance letting us know that we will no longer be covered after March 23!
We make plans to come back to Canada on or before that date. This is not a pleasant surprise.

Tuesday, March 17, 2020

No photo of today as we were busy packing for the trip back home.
To top it all, I started a cold, no, not the Covid-19.

Wednesday, March 18, 2020

Off we go!
It is not fog you see but the moisture on the camera lens when the camera is taken from the nice dry cool inside of the MH to outside hot and humid air.

One big blade for a wind turbine.

The roads are super nice and the wind is at out back. Good for us!

We covered a lot of ground today. Flick is a very good traveling dog.

Houston was very easy to drive through.

Our campground for the night is the 59 Trading Place and being a Passport America (PA) park it cost only $15. To top it off, the owner gave Patrice the same discount even if he is not a member of PA.

Nice bike!

It is still hot and muggy.
Margarita time!

This is what we covered today, a nice 632 km.

We had planed a nicer trip back to Canada, but it is what it is.

Thursday, March 19, 2020

They are calling for rain today.
Getting ready for departure!

And rain we do have.

One positive thing about all this it is price of gas.

Since we left Donna, we traveled on State roads. They are four lanes highways like interstates, but they pass through towns and small cities. We see very few trucks on this road.

Once in Arkansas, we take the I-30 east.

Our home for the night.

We are very close to the Interstate!

Not a lot of room between each other!

It is still hot outside. We took a little walk around the park to stretch a little.

With a Margarita in our hand!

Smile!

Another good day on the road.

Friday, March 20, 2020

We had a little incident this morning.
When I pulled the valve open for the black water tank, it all came out at Patrice's site! The sewer line is plugged! Patrice had to jump out of the way!

We are back on the road by 8 am.

Between Little Rock, AK, and Memphis, TN, we stopped on the interstate. Patrice listen to the CB and learned that a big transport truck flipped on the bridge ahead.

Nothing is moving.

Like many people with dogs, Manon had Flick stretch his legs too.

After almost one hour, we started to move again. As you can see, the river is pretty high right now.

They pulled the truck off the bridge on its side!

Next we cross the Mississippi and enter Tennessee.

Memphis.

Rain, rain go away!

We are getting closer to our next destination.

We are at Dad's Bluegrass Campground for two nights just to take a break from driving.

Pizza night.

This was a long driving day for me. On top of that we lost one hour because of the truck accident.

Saturday, March 21, 2020

Short pants time is over!
We only took walks in the campground today.

And going crazy.

We are taking many walks around the campground.

Some more craziness.

Flick is quite comfy.

We played games.

Flick being a guard dog.

We skyped with Benoit after supper.
All is good for him in Montreal.

It was good to have a do nothing day.

Today we got a phone call from Jan and Jannie. They are also on their way back to Canada. They are member of the campground association of Ontario. They mentioned a few campground are opening early so snowbirds can have a place to go to. We called Willow Lake campground in Woodstock, Ontario and booked two weeks starting March 23. Thanks Jannie and Jan for the info.

Sunday, March 22, 2020

Our grand-daughter Natasha just turned 2 months old. With this Covid-19, when will we be able to hold her?

And back on the road.

Next State, Ohio.

Good thing we do not need gas!

On our way to Twin Lakes campground.

Nobody is at the office, but that is OK, we booked 2 sites over the phone. We only have to leave the payment in an envelope.

After we got all settled in, we are out for a walk.

Surprise! We have no water in the campground. It is a good thing we carry our own water with us.

The Queen in her castle.

After supper we started to see snow coming down!!!

It is snowing harder now!

Another long day on the road. On the positive side, the cities are easier and faster to go through.

We should be back in Canada tomorrow.

Monday, March 23, 2020

Last day on the road.
The snow stayed on the ground, but not on the actual roadway.

Almost ready to hit the road.

Off we go!

The roads are wet, but the snow does not accumulate.
We will be crossing the border into Canada at Sarnia, Ontario.
As we drove through Detroit, we saw this huge basketball.

It snowed most of the morning making the roads wet.

One last stop for gas and a quick walk for Flick.

We had to pay a toll for the bridge in Port Huron, Michigan to Sarnia, Ontario. A big $13 CDN.

There is very little traffic on the bridge and roads today.

Only two booths are open right now on the Canadian side.

We went through the custom in a record time. A few questions about our travel, how we feel right now and got handed information about the Covid-19 and self-isolation. That is it!
Welcome to Ontario

W had to drive through the small city of Woodstock to get to our campground.

It has some very nice-looking neighborhood.

Our home for the next 14 days in self-isolation.

Willow Lake campground has opened its park one month early to accommodate snowbirds like us.
Our site for the next two weeks.

Manon and Patrice's site.

So, we finally made it back home in Canada.
A driving day of 450 km.

Next is our route between Donna, Texas and Woodstock, Ontario.
All 2,943 km.

It was not a fun drive. This was not the normal way to travel for us.
We made plans to visit and take our time, but that Covid-19 sure put a wrench in our plans. Oh well!

Tuesday, March 24 to Sunday, March 29, 2020

Now that we are in self-isolation for the next two weeks, we will not be going out of the campground.
Our home for the next two weeks. We are not next to each other, but close enough.

Every day, we take many walks around the campground.

When you have nothing to do, you spy on your neighbors.

On Wednesday, Manon and Patrice got a Shaw Direct satellite installed.
They were going to get it when they move into the new house.

This is not a permanent installation, so the wires go through the window.

Manon and Patrice are doing some "maintenance" on Flick.

More walks.

Willow Lake.

We are in Dairy Country.

This campground has some cabins for rent.

We are watching TV, but not too much and certainly limited news channels.

We surf the web.

One of the campers in the park has a pig as a pet!

Some days are sunny.

The campground office. It is close and every transactions are done electronically. No physical whatsoever.

Thanks to Kristin and Jeremy, we receive photos of Natasha almost every day. Natasha loves her Winnie The Pooh.

Jeremy walking with Natasha on ice whiles ice fishing. Poor Natasha, she seems to have a very difficult life!

Who says you can not have fun while in quarantine.

Saturday night at around eleven thirty, we heard lots of noise from a truck engine. It was raining pretty hard.
This is what we saw this morning. It is still raining.

The rain stopped later in the morning. I went to have a look. He is on very wet grass.

Out and about for another walk. The highlight of the day is going to the garbage.

He tries to go up on his site. It is too wet to do that.

Patrice and I give him a hand to get to his site.

Oh the excitement!

Monday, March 30, 2020

We are half way into our self-isolation.
It is a hard thing to do!

On our way to our late afternoon cocktail.

Another photo of our son Jeremy catch of the day!

We are still doing our part to flatten the curve.

Tuesday, March 31, 2020

As usual, every morning, Patrice and I are out and about for our morning walk. We still have to be moving during self-isolation.

We do have something going on almost everyday. Like this couple arriving from Florida. They are having a very hard time getting into their site. Many of us are keeping entertained by watching this unfold.

As soon as the truck is on the road and onto the grass, it looses traction and spins. Finally, out of frustration, the old gentleman who drives let a younger retiree take over the driving.

It seems a lot of people do not really know what should be done exactly. After having seen how it is done at North Shore RV Park, there is an easier way of doing things.

Michele even goes for a walk with Flick.

They made it!

Day 8 of self-isolation!!!
"Where are the people?"

Life is good!

Thank you Kristin and Jeremy for sending us photos of Natasha.

Until next time.

Life is good...
