The wind is blowing pretty hard today. The wind gusts are up
above 50 km/h.
The only good thing is the wind is hitting the MH from the back and
slightly to the side. A tree and some bushes are protecting the
MH form most of the wind.
Here I come from the garbage run.
The wind makes it very cool outside, so we spent most of the day inside.
Friday October 2, 2015
The closet rod in Michele's closet has come undone a few days ago.
Today I am going to fix it.
We have to go back to Lowes for parts.
One of the trailers with Halloween decorations.
On our way to Niagara Falls, we had to stop at this store. You
never know what you may need in there.
We found all that we need to fix Michele's closet.
The rod removed.
I am hard at work.
Tada!
I know the MH is still under warranty and you are probably wondering
why we do not get it fixed by them.
Here is what they probably would have done. Put it a little to
the left and put the same screws back in or even worst, longer screws
and they would have probably gone through the roof!
Sometimes, it is easier to fix it myself and do it right.
Speaking of repairs. The bathroom sink is still dry!
Saturday October 3, 2015
The wind is still blowing pretty hard.
Even with the cool temperature, I am going out geocaching.
One of the caches was located at Nickels Beach in Port Colborne.
I got 9 caches today.
We have noticed some marks on the TV.
I will get that fix/replaced under warranty.
The rain is back and the wind is still blowing. We hit +13°C
today.
Sunday October 4, 2015
I am cooking this morning.
I am cooking all the potatoes that Robbyn gave us the last time we
stopped by her place in Manitoba.
I am making a few shepherds pies.
The ground meat was already cooked so it was not a lot of work.
Three shepherd pies in the freezer.
And one for diner tonight.
After lunch, we decided to go geocaching on the bike trail near the
campground.
Many churches are creative with their messages!
This is a "Rail to Trail" trail.
The Friendship Trail is 16 kilometres long and joins Port Colborne to
Fort Erie.
The Friendship Trail is part of a 140 kilometres system of trails that
circle the Niagara regions.
Taking a little break.
Me going in the bush for a cache and Michele coming out of the bush
after looking for a cache.
A cache is supposed to be under the tall tree. Can you see me
coming out of the bush?
Some caches are unique. This one is under a snail shell.
Michel saw it almost right away.
We had a good day geocaching, we got 14 caches and walked 6 kilometres.
Monday October 5, 2015
Today is cloudy with sunny breaks. I decide to wash the MH.
This is the first time since we left Moose Jaw.
I started at about 10 am and finished by 3:30 pm. I also had a
good lunch made by Michele.
For some strange reason, we are invaded by fruit flies!
We look for the cause, but find no reason for the invasion!
We place two glasses with apple cider vinegar in the MH.
They love this stuff!
In less than an hour, the fruit flies population is rapidly falling...
We think it will probably take two to three days to get them all.
Tuesday October 6, 2015
It is warming up quickly this morning.
We will go biking and looking for caches this afternoon.
They are not fruit flies.
They are simply sand flies.
We still have an invasion!
I was out looking for the cache in the campground this morning. I
found it!
Before we left for our bike ride. We saw this monster
rearing up to attach us!
Isn't it cute?
Here I am in the bush looking for a cache!
A buzzard.
On the friendship trail.
We found 15 caches and rode for 7.2 km.
It was a good day.
Wednesday October 7, 2015
By noon, it was +20°C, WOW!
The campground will be full this Thanksgiving Weekend.
A cleanup as to be done!
I went to the campground office to see if they have found a site for us
for the long weekend.
We are in luck, they do have a site for us. It is located in one
of the seasonal area.
To top it all off, no charge! That is taking care of your
customer.
Some eggs-in-the-bag for lunch.
After lunch, we head to the little town of Ridgeway and continue our
bike ride and our hunt for caches.
The same friendship trail.
Biking.
Some people really get into the hallowing spirit. This is the
back of the house!
Some caches are very big!
We got back home by 6 pm. We have found 33 caches and biked 19 km.
Another very good day!
Thursday October 8, 2015
Another warm day!
We are out caching again, but with the car this time.
Our legs and butts need a rest.
What is on the other side of this sandy hill?
Lake Erie.
The shoetree and there is a cache somewhere in there!
The village of Crystal Beach was a summer time destination many years
ago.
With the opening of tourist attraction in the nearby towns and a lack
of forward thinking, Crystal Beach was overshadowed and fell in despair.
Today, Crystal Beach is renowned for its beach and small town flair.
Look at this thorn. They hurt when you are looking for a cache.
A small harvest with 6 caches found today. We also did some
groceries shopping.
After we got back home, I prepared the turkey that was cooked in the
crock-pot.
This is the first time I cooked turkey in the crock-pot. I had to
de-bone it first because our crock-pot is too small for a big turkey.
By de-boning it first, we lost some meat on the carcass.
Anyway! It turned out very good.
We do some small preparation for our move tomorrow morning.
Friday October 9, 2015
In less that 45 minutes we left our old site and were all set up at our
new site.
We will be here until Monday.
Part of the afternoon is spent in the laundry room.
Michele preparing a good soup.
We had some very good thunderstorms last night. The rain did not
stop until this morning at 8 am.
Just in time for our move!
We had no rain for the rest of the day.
Saturday October 10, 2015
We have sunny skies today, but the night was on the cool side with only
6°C.
In Port Colborne, we stop at the local drugstore for the annual
transfer of prescription before our trip down south.
We do some window-shopping to pass the time. I found a cache next
to the Welland Canal.
It was a laid-back day. The campground is full of life with all
the Thanksgiving campers.
Sunday October 11, 2015
Another sunny day. The wind is blowing pretty hard with wind
gusts above 70 km/h.
We still hit 18°C today.
After lunch, we go out for a walk on the beach and look at the waves.
There are a lot of kitesurfing going on.
The orange kite is getting ready to start his run.
After picking up a lot of speed, he can go pretty high from a good wave.
Where we came on to the beach.
This is one of the many beaches of the campground.
This morning I had to place a cargo strap around one of the slide to
keep the slide awning from flapping in the wind.
This summer I had asked the dealer to tighten the awning, but they told
me it was OK!
After having seen the level of incompetence they have, I will do it
myself.
This is a temporary solution.
A relaxed Sunday.
Monday October 12, 2015
Monday!
This was our last move at Sherkston Shore.
Once again, we did the move in less than an hour. It is quiet now
that the weekenders are gone.
The sun is shinning, but even with the cool breeze, I read outside for
part of the afternoon.
Michele is also reading, but inside.
We had a nice 22°C today and we will be down to 16°C tomorrow.
Tuesday October 13, 2015
Last Sunday when we went for a walk on the beach, my running shoe
filled up with sand under the sole.
After lunch, we drive to the Outlet Center in Niagara Falls.
First stop is at the Nike store.
Our next stop is at the Reebok store.
The Reebok running shoes won, but not by much.
With my new shoes bought, we start to look for Thrift Shoppes.
While Michele shops, I start looking for caches.
There is one cache on Drummond Hill where a big battle took place in
the war of 1812.
To get back home we take the Niagara Falls Parkway.
We are going by the Falls.
There are very few tourists this time of year.
We had cloud cover all day.
I only got two caches today.
Wednesday October 14, 2015
Yesterday when we went shopping for my shoes, we also stopped at the
local Lowes.
This morning I am full of energy.
I am going to install some of our purchased from Lowes.
The first project of the day is to install plastic corner in the MH.
Here is an example of where we use the plastic corners. In every
cupboard, we install these corner pieces to prevent wear from taking
and putting back stuff in cupboards.
Installed.
You cannot see it when the door is closed.
We have more cupboard than I expected. We had 30 feet of the
corner pieces, but we will need another 20 feet.
My next project is to install some support brackets for the shower rod
above the shower.
I only do this to make sure it is well supported.
The shower rod is not used for the shower, but for a place to hang
towels and other stuff.
The third project for this morning. I am installing a handle on
the hot water tanks panel.
Why do you ask?
Because every time I open this door, it almost falls off my hand.
I
do not want to drop it on the ground and damage it.
The screws that came with the handle are made for a wooden door.
The screws are way too long for the hot water door.
Here is the result.
I am putting everything together.
I am very happy with the way it looks.
I am going to look for caches by myself this afternoon. Michele
decided to stay home and read.
I found 8 caches. With those 8, we are done with the east side of
the Friendship Trail.
I walked 3 kilometres in my new shoes and I am very happy about them.
Once back home, I do another little project. This one is jut to
hide the many wires on the ground in front of the TV.
This black tube is only a temporary solution. I am sure we will
come up with a better solution in the next few months.
It was a good day!
Thursday October 15, 2015
No photos for today!
We did not do much anyway today.
We are waiting for a parcel with our mail from Trenton.
What did we really do today?
Well, we read and read and wait for our parcel to arrive.
We got a call from the front office at around 4 pm. Our parcel
has arrived.
Surprisingly, we got a few important letters.
The wind is blowing very hard today. Some wind gusts are at 80
km/h.
I had asked the MH dealer to tighten the two main slide's awning when
they had
the MH for a week.
They told me they were OK. They looked at me as if I did not know
what I was talking about.
It is not funny how the wind now unrolls them easily today. Did I
say they were incompetent?
We have to close the slide on one side to protect the awning.
I will not even ask them to fix the tension on the awning next time we
go there. If I want it done and done right, I will do it myself.
I feel like once they have your money, the service is not there anymore.
I am not even mad, just disappointed...
