Sunday March 1st, 2015

I woke up to rain coming down hard.  The rain stops by 11 am.  There is even a warning of heavy fog by the coast.
With the rain over, I decide to go and get the cache located on the big bridge over Clear Lake.
I go to the cache by foot.  I go through the little village of Clear Lake Shores.

One of the canals, Clear Lake Shores is not a poor place!

The bridge where the cache is located.  I will walk to the top of the bridge.

A good thing the shoulder is wide.

Some shrimp trawlers.

Once I got to the top of the bridge, I found the cache quickly.
The view looking west from the top of the bridge, on the left, Clear Lake Shores and on the right, Seabrook.

Now looking east, the village of Kemah and the Kemah Boardwalk with the roller coaster.  We also see some fog on the edge of the water.

One of the restaurants I want to try.  It is Crawfish season.  On the right photo, you can see the cook boiling the crawfish outside.  I stopped in the restaurant for a beer, it was packed, waiting time for a table, 45 minutes and the time is 2 pm!  WOW!  It turned out I did not have a beer here.

I continued my walk at the Kemah Boardwalk.  I finally have a beer at Bubba Gump.  After a good beer, I continue my walk in Kemah before I make it home.

A walked 7 kilometres today.
It is warm and humid and I love it!

A good week, but I cannot wait to see Michele back here...

Monday March 2, 2015

I wake up to a gray sky, but no rain.
I am finally done taking the blog pages from Blogger back to www.michele-denis.com.
This afternoon, I am going to bike the "Red Bluff Trail" and look for more caches.  The trail is soft and makes bike a little more strenuous.
What?
Snakes on the trail???

I found 13 caches, 2 DNF (Did not find) and one message to the cache owner that his caches need maintenance.

I was on my bike for 14 kilometres.  I got home just before the rain started.  It turns out to be a short rainfall.

Tuesday March 3, 2015

Another nice, cloudy day.
Today I am riding the biking trail along the Fairmont Parkway in the little town of La Porte.
I will be looking for caches.  The series of caches I will be looking for is called "La Porte's Biking and Hiking Trail".
Here, I am at the beginning or the end of the trail depending of the perspective.

One section of the trail is strait as an arrow while other sections are more "twisty".
The trail in made of concrete and it is nice to ride on that.

I am on the trail by 10 in the morning and get off by 2:30 in the afternoon.  I biked a nice 22 km, but I have to stop every 2 or 3 hundred meters to look for caches.
The results for today are as follow, 24 caches found, 3 DNF and 2 that needs maintenance.

On the way back, I do a little grocery shopping.  Would you look at this blue sky?  I think the last time I saw blue was 5 days ago!

Do not get me wrong, I am not complaining...

A good day biking and caching.

Wednesday March 4, 2015

Another warm day!
I am going to change the kitchen sink.  Why?  It is not looking very good in the bottom.
Boy there are a lot of stuff under a kitchen sink.

Before I start, let me tell you a little info about RV construction.  The "inside' is assembled on the floor and then put in the RV.  Finally, the walls are then put on.  What this means is that everything you want to change is very hard to get at, remove or install.  As you can see, it is not easy to reach the back of the sink.

The red arrow shows you one of the points of access to the back of the sink.
By the way, the sink is not blue!
It is just a protective film.

I finally get the sink in place and the only thing missing is the silicone to seal the edges.

WOW!  I will be in pain tomorrow morning.  I had to do some very creative body contortion to install this sink!

With my work done for the day, I am out for more caching in the car.  It is a beautiful 27°C with 95% humidity.  Nice!

The weather forecaster is telling us we will have a cold front (again) tomorrow.
Already 14°C at 10:16, the forecast for tomorrow morning?
A cold 2°C.

I had a good day!

Thursday March 5, 2015

I wake up to some very strong wind and rain.  Temperature, 2°C.
By 8 o'clock, here what it is. Top left corner is the temperature outside.
Bottom left is the wind chill temperature.
What should I do today?

Off to the movie I go!  I will be watching the movie "Focus".  Oups!  I will not be watching the movie "Focus".  At this time, it is showing in "Extreme HD" for $12.00.
I chose to see the movie "Kingsman. The secret service".

I loved this movie.  A very good 1970 spy movie.

Friday March 6, 2015

What can I tell you ...  BRRRRR!

I do some laundry while looking at this cold, blue sky.

After the laundry at home, I went to the Laundromat to wash our comforter.
Just as the comforter is in spin mode, and older man pours soap in my machine!!!  Does that ever do a lot of bubbles!
He realizes his mistake and apologizes profusely and even offer to pay for the "next" wash.  Therefore, I ended my trip to the Laundromat a little later than I wanted.  If this is my biggest problem, I have no problems.

When I got back home, I stopped at the office to check if my bike stand has arrived.  YES!
The big photo shows you the stand in the box and the top left hand and right hand mini photo shows you different configuration you can make.

Saturday March 7, 2015

Yesterday I made a small grocery trip at Walmart and I bought those red oranges.  Even with the red colour, the taste is the same!

A lazy Saturday morning reading all my newsletters on the laptop.  By 11 o'clock, I leave to look for more caches while walking a trail.  The first stop is at the Little Cedar Bayou Park.  I found the two caches located here.

Next, I walk the other part of the La Porte bike and hike trail.

A local resident!

While I was looking for a cache, I saw this monster!  All right, a big insect on a leaf about 5 cm (2 inches) wide and 13 cm (5 inches) long.  I am sure this insect winked at me.  I won the battle.

I found 12 caches and a 10 kilometres walk.

Sunday March 8, 2015

Before I start on today's blog, I would like to wish every women of the world Happy International Women's Day.
Do not forget to click on the link above for some very interesting reading.

I do not know if it is because on the changing of the time, but I woke up at 4:30 this morning.  I watched some TV and went back to bed by 7 o'clock to be awake again by 9:30.  Ho well!

With the weather forecast for today, I decided to go to the movies.  I went to the same movie theatre and finally watched the movie I wanted to watch the last time.  I watched Focus with Will Smith and Margot Robbie.

I really enjoyed this movie.

By the time I get back home, the rain has started for good.  I think I will be in front of the TV this evening.

A busy week.

Monday March 9, 2015

I woke up to rain (again). The forecast for today?  Rain!
Good weather for ducks!

I finished the blog's update.  I do more laundry (Michele is coming back Wednesday) and a little grocery shopping.
Fog was back in the afternoon and changed to heavy rain for the rest of the day.

The rain was very, very heavy at times.  I even lost my satellite reception for the TV.
A boring day!

Tuesday March 10, 2015

Not much happen today, not even a photo!
Weather wise, I am not even going to talk about it!

Wednesday March 11, 2015

Michele is coming home today!
Around the Houston airport is the industrial area of Houston.  In one part of the industrial park is a small island of green.  One cacher has placed 10 caches around the park.  The trail around the park is about 2.4 km (1.5 miles) long.  Having to wait for Michele until 4 pm, I decided to get a few caches in this park.  I found 9 out of 10 of the caches and the one I did not find, another 6 cachers had not found it.  Of the 9 caches I found, I changed the logs and plastic bags because they were very wet.  A good thing I had brought replacement logs and plastic bags.

Time to get to the airport and on the way to the airport I found another cache.

I have to get to terminal "A" to meet Michele.  Houston international airport has 5 terminals and that means a lot of traffic.  For some reason I miss the entrance of the parking lot for terminal A.  I have to go around the airport to come back.  Lo and behold, I miss it again for a second time!  I finally made the third time.
Michele arriving.

The trip back to the motorhome is not too bad.  It took twice as long (2 hours) because we had to go through Houston at 4:30 pm.

Michele's voyage to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

This is just a little voyage in photo of Michele's time in Moose Jaw.  She was "babysitting" Gabriel and Jeremy!
Without and more delay, here are the photos...

This photo is taken at 5 am on the morning Michele leave those two alone.

Michele loves he trip to Moose Jaw to visit and babysit Gabriel and Jeremy.

Thursday March 12, 2015

Rain started last evening and has not stopped yet!  At around 4 am we even had thunderstorms and they lasted until about 7 am.  After that, we had light rain and drizzle.

Michele got used to take afternoon naps with Gabriel.  She is keeping up the habit...

The weatherman is telling us the temperature will warm up tomorrow and for next week.  They even say we will get to +24°C and no rain!

Here, I am playing with the micro quadcopter Jeremy gave me.  I am not very good at flying.

Friday March 13, 2015

I would like to get as many caches as I can in the series "La Porte Biking & Hiking Trail" before we leave the area.
This morning I am looking for caches with Michele.

On the left photo the cache is located at the base of the speed limit sign.  On the right photo, Michele saw a snake's head come out of the hole in the tree.  Lucky for us the cache was not located in there!

The cache is located under the "skirt" of the lamp-post (bottom right of the photo).  The logbook was wet, here I am coming back with a replacement bag and logbook.

What a nice tool store with a cache.

Now that is a big bug!

After we got home, I happen to see this bird taking a bath!
Here is what he was saying...  "The water is nice".  "I get wet".

"Got to wash the armpits".

"Rinse mode and dry time".

This bird must have been in the water for a good 5 minutes.

Our cache results for today are 9 caches found and only one not found.

Saturday March 14, 2015

What is going on?  We have sun shine and warm weather?  We even got to +24°C.
We are looking for the last of the series of "La Porte..." caches.

Caches located on palm trees are not good for us usually.  This time luck is on our side and we find the cache under all the "leaves".  Are there bugs in there?

A good thing for us these bushes are not with thorns.

The next few caches are close to one part of the port of Houston.

While we were looking for a cache, Michele was stung by a bee of some sort.  Here is the dart left on her shirt.

Another easy cache, but it was protected by fire ants.

A ship and a barge going up to Houston Port.

We have looked for this cache without any luck, but we did get to see a few little geckos watching us!

Another good day caching, 11 found and two DNF.

Sunday March 15, 2015

No caching for us today, but a good walk to Kemah Boardwalk for the last time.  The Boardwalk is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

It is also spring break here and there are tons of people. This is a boat tour with loud music and a promise a getting you wet!

We found the prices of good and food way too high.  So, we decided to have a beer a few streets away.  Here, we are at the "Hub Cap & Grill".

A beer at the Boardwalk cost between $7 and $12 per beer while here $7 for two beers!
Here in Kemah, they do have some recycling.  Just like a MacDonald, once you are done you take your garbage to the garbage can and you put your cans in the pipe on the left, the left over from your drink and beer caps in the middle and bottles on the right.  Smart!

We had a good walk, a good 7 km.

Until next time.

Life is good...
