Time to leave Rockport and head to Kemah near Houston. The
motorhome is ready for departure!
We stop by the clubhouse to say our goodbyes to everybody. Here
we are on our way out of the park.
The "gang" on the porch.
The three bridges over the Copano Bay. On the left is the old
bridge turned into a fishing pier. The one we are on is at the
end of its life and does not meet today's standard for evacuation and
height for the ships. The one on the right is the new one of
course.
The land close to the coast is pretty flat and boring to drive...
As you get away from the coast, the lay of the land changes and is not
as flat.
After passing Victoria, we are hit by rain and it is coming down hard
at time.
The rain is much colder then the air and the windshield fogged up
fast. Nothing bad, just annoying. With the rain comes a
crosswind blowing at 30 km/h and gusts at 50 km/h. This is not a
pleasant drive.
The speed limit is 110 km/h and here, they drive at least 120-125 km/h,
combine that to a strong crosswind, it is no wonder he flipped the
trailer!
Going through Houston was not bad, I would even say better than some
cities. Here we are coming up to our new home, Marina Bay RV Resort.
The office.
Our site, number 219 with ass services, but like other park, you pay
for the electricity you use. This site is costing us $1000
Canadian ($800 US) and it includes a deposit of $186 ($150) for
electricity. The rate of exchange sure puts a dent in the cost of
RVing for Canadians.
The view north.
The view south.
Today's trip between Rockport and Kemah went good even with the traffic
and weather. I think we made the right choice with this RV Park,
it is a very good location for biking and geocaching.

A cold front is sweeping the area and will be with us for the next two
or three days. I am talking about a maximum of +10 C during the
day! It does not bother those ducks...
Or the birds!
We are out checking out the RV Park. Michele with the bayou
behind her.
Looking east with low tide in the bayou.
One of the three pools in the park. This one will be heated after
the cold front has left. We will see.
The temperature is going up some, 14 C, Michele and I go out to look
for caches. This one is located just across the street from the
RV Park. I do not know if I would have fond it, but Michel with
her eagle eyes found it in less then a minute.
Some cute flowers in the "cold".
The next cache takes us to the "Boardwalk" of Kemah. A nice 10 C
in the sun!
Just look at the name of the bar and you get the decorations.
Pretty girl on the tailgate of a pickup truck.
An easy cache.
We are in the tourist area of Kemah.
One of the many marinas in the area. This one is a small marina!
One more.
The Boardwalk in Kemah.
This one was a little tricky. It is in an indoor garage with
three levels. The hint sent us to the third floor. The
cache is black and hidden in a dark area.
Five caches found and a good 6 km walk, a good day.

Michele is leaving for Moose Jaw this morning. She will be
visiting our son Jeremy and the grandson Gabriel. To be at the
Houston airport three hours prior to the flight departure time we are
on the road at 3 am to be at the airport by 4 am. Surprise!
Nobody is at the Air Canada desk until 4:30 am!?!?!?
I leave Michel in the hands of Air Canada and get back on the road to
get home before rush hour starts. Michele's aircraft is delayed
because of frost on the wings and she will miss her connecting flight
from Calgary to Regina.
After a good nap, I am out caching again and find 9 caches today.
A few weeks back we bought some frozen crawfish. Tonight is the
night I eat them. It was good, but like fresh one.
Michele did miss her connecting flight in Calgary, but she was booked
on the next flight a few hours later. When she finally made it to
Regina, Jeremy was there to pick her up and drive back to Moose Jaw.

Last night I made an itinerary for caching while biking. After
all the preparation I manage to make a mistake, I will talk about it a
little later. Bike lane on the left and I bike on the
sidewalk. Why the sidewalk? I see people driving and
texting all the time and the end up all over the road and over the bike
lane.
This is cute for boat storage.
A cache in what looks like a normal pipe!
Hummm! I think I will have to go and try a beer at this pub!
Half way on my ride, I stop at this gas station for a good hot dog.
I will be biking around 25 km today, but remember my mistake? I
downloaded the caches located 5 miles around the RV Park to my
GPS. Well, my ride is taking me farther then these 5 miles so I
cannot do many caches because they are not in my GPS!
But I still found some interesting caches, like this grasshopper
Houston with the Space Center close by, a space shuttle cache is a
must! You have to remove the top "plug" on the shuttle and pull
the red knob and release it. The tube is supposed to come out the
top. It is no longer there! Why do people steal/break
things for no reason?
I deserve a good steak tonight!
I took the TV from the basement and used it as a monitor for my
laptop. I good idea, but the quality of the image is not there
and by Sunday I will be putting the TV back in the basement.
A good 25 km on my bike and 25 caches found, a good day. This is
the most caches found in one day for me.
Friday February 20, 2015
I miss Michele!!!
So out I go and do more caches. The weather is not very nice for
me. I have to run back to the car a few times. I stopped at
Walmart for a few items and sometimes they have submarines that are
about to be pass the "best Before Date" and the cut the price in
half. I get one.
I get two meals out of it and if you look at it, I could not even buy
the meat at that price!
Only four caches for me today.

For those who do not know geocaching, here is short version, a treasure
hunt! Somebody hides something, post the co-ordinates on the web
site www.geocaching.com. You download the information from the
cache to your GPS. The GPS can take you as close a one foot of
the cache or at times a far as 10 meters. So before you head out
to look for the cache, you read the description of the cache, sometime
they give you a hint. In this case, the hint was "When you can
see Texas, you are very close". Here is the Texas.
And the cache is on the other side.
Some caches are very good looking.
In one of the trails I walked today, they had to support the live oak
branches to keep the trail passable.
On my way to another cache.
A good thing it did not rain too hard or I would not have made it to
this cache.
On my way back home I see a motorhome almost like ours, it is a few
years younger. It has two slides out.
A good day caching with 20 find. I saw many different places.
Sunday February 22, 2015
Humidity is at 99% and the temperature is at 26C (80F). It is
warm! One of the caches is on the beach.
For some strange reason I cannot seems to find caches today. I
did walk a nice 5 km. I finally go home and watch the Daytona 500
race on TV.
Monday February 23, 2015
A nice + 2 C (35 F) this morning.
After a good breakfast, I defrosted the freezer and fridge. It
was about time.
I even do some laundry.
By 3 o'clock, it is 5 C (41 F). Not that warm!
I am not going to look for caches today. I spent most of my time
bringing back the blog from Blogger to our web page, www.michele-denis.com.
Tuesday and Wednesday, February 24 and 25, 2015
Tuesday, another cool day at 5 C. I do not want to stay indoor
again. Out I go looking for caches.
Here are just a few of the caches I found today.
A giant mousetrap!
The name of this cache is "What a croc". I guess it is a
real croc!
A good day geocaching with 12 caches found and only one "DNF" (Did Not
Find).
Wednesday, no photo for you today, but a somewhat warmer +9 C (
48 F).
I am out again looking for caches.
11 caches found, one DNF and I informed a cache owner that his cache is
in real need of maintenance.
Thursday February 26, 2015
WOW! It is warming up again with a +12 C (+53 F).
Once again, I am geocaching. A good crop with 9 finds, 2 DNF and
2 that I logged as needing maintenance.
This one was a little out of the ordinary. The cache is located
in the hole at the base of the tree.
Not a small cache!
It is good to be out and walking around looking for caches.
I miss Michele, I cannot wait for her to come back from the Great White
North.
Friday February 27, 2015
Today is the end of our seasonal break from Shaw Direct. If you
remember, when we arrived in Donna in November we could not get any
reception from Shaw. We then decided to take the cable
instead. Back to today, I tried to get the satellite, but no
luck. I went online and started a chat session with Shaw.
After about 15 minutes, I find the satellite and a few more minutes
later, I got Canadian TV! Now if you look at the photo, not much
has changed in two mounts!
To celebrate this event, I treat myself with a Chinese buffet!
The food was just OK. Come to think about it, a buffet is not
Haute Cuisine!
To help me with digestion, I go looking for geocaches. One of the
caches I am looking for is located in the parking lot of a mall.
For the first time I was stopped by a police officer! I explained
what I am doing and guess what? He starts to help me looking for
the cache! I cannot find this cache, but it was a weird situation.
Saturday February 28, 2015
The sun almost came out from behind the clouds. Once again,, I go
out looking for more caches. I know I am probably annoying with
geocaching, but it makes me go out and be active.
While looking for my first cache I saw these deers, two nice looking
bucks and one doe. They are almost as big as the one in Alberta
and they are right in the city!
Here is one cache that will need maintenance from the owner. The
cache is open and the content is all over the place. I informed
the owner by email.
While looking for my next cache, once again, a police stop and ask me
what I am doing. When he saw the GPS in my hand, he knew what I
was doing. This time I did not need to go into explanation.
He did not offer to help me looking for the cache!!!
After some caching, I go back home and continue to transfer the blog
from Blogger to our web page.
A good day!
