Monday October 1, 2018

We left Lac Lafontaine at around 10 am this morning.
We are taking the autoroute 50 to go around Montreal.

Welcome to Ontario.

I want to fuel up the MH at the Tyendinaga, Mohawk Territory reserve near Belleville because the gas is way cheaper on the reserve.  To make it there, I have to put in $40 worth of gas first or I will run out.

We have to drive 6 km off the 401 to fuel up on the reserve.  They sell everything here!

I pay $0.08 less per liters here.  When you put 293 liters, it makes quite a saving.

I found the drive to be very long today.  It must be because I am tired.
Next stop, North Shore Park.

Saturday it was the amateur's race at the Brighton Race track and the campground had 5 cars in different races.  This is what is left of some of the car.  Only one is running now.  The owner finished third and his daughter finished second .

It is so nice to do nothing today.  We still have a few appointments, nothing important.

Tuesday October 2, 2018

The main thing for today is to go to Helix and exchange Michele's rechargeable batteries for her earring aids.
They could not get her in today or tomorrow, so we will have to make an appointment at Helix in St-Catharines for some fine tuning.  We do have the new rechargeable batteries.

We spent the day watching TV and doing nothing.

Wednesday October 3, 2018

We are leaving North Shore at 10 am this morning.

Before we get to the 401, we make a quick stop for propane.  I like this place because it is easy to get in and out with the MH.

Toronto, here we come.  Traffic is moving well, once again, going through Toronto is easy.

We leave the MH at the Walmart in Etobiko/Mississauga where we will spend the night.
I start looking at the distance left to make it to our next campground.  It is only 120 km away.  We decide that after visiting Odette, we will drive to the campground right away.

Odette is much better now.  Alix is controlling the medications she is taking, slowly reducing some of the dosage and stopping other medication not needed.  All this under the doctor's supervision.

It was a nice to visit Odette, Alix and Onyx.  After the visit, we are back on the road to Niagara Falls and our campground.

We always wonder what the story was for this ship when we drive by, well, here it is.
Another unrelated replica, possibly based on the steel hull of a 1914 ferry or a 1941 icebreaker, was purchased by a businessman with the intention of moving her to Ontario and re-opening the restaurant. Unfortunately, he didn't have the funds to realise his dream, and the ship sat in Jordan Harbour, near St. Catharines for years, unused. In 2003, the ship was destroyed by what police called a suspicious fire, most likely the work of arsonists. The burned-out hull still sits in the harbour, located between the 55- and 57-kilometer markers on the Queen Elizabeth Way.

We made it to the campground without any problems, but arriving just as darkness arrives, it is not fun at all.
Our site is kind of small.  We will ask to change tomorrow morning.  Just as I plug in the MH on the pedestal, nothing!  No power!
One of the wire in the plug as come loose.  I have to repair it in the dark, with a flashlight of course.  It is not fun, but a quick fix.

Thursday October 4, 2018

We got a new site no problems.  Our home for the next month.

When we were driving back from Saskatchewan, we stopped in the town of Souris in Manitoba and they gave us this fold-able, reusable box/bag for recycling.  It came with the price of the campsite.

The Niagara region as received a lot of rain in the past few weeks.  Mushroom are growing in the grass.

I am working on the next blog update, OK, I needed a nap.

A very relaxing day...

Friday October 5, 2018

We came to the conclusion that we will not be doing much until Monday except a little shopping and driving around the area.  One of the Thrift Shops in the area.

Niagara Falls, a touristy area with BIG stuff.

We will be recuperating over the next few days.

Saturday October 6, 2018

What a surprise, it is raining again today.  So far, the month of October is pretty wet.

We went to the Outlet Mall near the campground and shopped for shoes for me.

I found a good pair of shoes at Tootsies.  They are Skechers.

Back home, we started to watch the series Castle.

Sunday October 7, 2018

Cloudy skies and maybe some rain, again!

We are going to St-Catharines to check out an indoor flea market.
We have to drive under the Welland Canal.  I find it impressive to be able to drive under a canal and a big ship could be floating above you.

Here too, they have to repair the tunnel.

Go to the light Denis...

The flea market looks big, good.

No, it is not that big and it is not what we like in a flea market.  I don't think we will come back soon.

But we did stop at two Goodwill stores on the way back.

While Michele was shopping at Goodwill, I went to Canadian Tire to buy a kind of glue to fix the star we have in the MH windshield.
This is the first time I see this, a parking space for electric cars only with a free charging station. WOW!

We use the QEW to get back home, much faster.

Back in our "hometown".

Dancing?

A good day.  I uploaded the area caches in our GPS.  We will be doing some caches in the next few weeks.  The Niagara area is full of  geocaches.

Monday October 8, 2018

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I am out for a bike ride in the campground.

It is hot and humid today, 25 °C and 36 °C with the humidity.
Nothing like a good book in the shade and a glass of red wine.

A nice relaxing day.

Tuesday October 9, 2018

One of our neighbors is getting ready to leave.  I noticed the back of his truck and it is very well organized.

I am out biking around the back of the campground on a little short trail (4.6 km).  Once again, it is hot and humid.

Why not wash and wax the MH?  But, we are not allowed to use water to wash the MH.  So I will be using one of those dry wash and wax product.  I can only do the shaded area of the MH.  I got the driver side to the back of the living room slide done.  It is too hot and humid.

It is hot just being outside.

Wednesday October 10, 2018

I carry on washing and waxing before lunch.  I finished the driver side and the back of the MH.  It is still hot and humid, I am soaked by the time I am done.

After lunch, I cleaned the position lights on the MH.  They were really dirty.

By 4 pm, I went out for a walk in the campground.  I will show you the campground.
This is the overnighters area.

Going into the seasonal area.

Campark Resort is right along highway 20 or Lundy's Lane and it is a very busy highway.

There is another area for overnighters, but it is closed at this time of the year.

Just a nice maple tree changing colours.

The main entrance is behind the barn.  The barn houses the lazer tag, restaurant and other activities center.  The small brown building is the outdoor stage.

At this time of the year, the campground host one big attraction, The Haunt Manor.  This is the biggest in the area and in Canada.

Come on in!.

The laundromat is just inside the haunted area.

One of the many streets with scary building...

Back in the seasonal area.  Can you see the white building?  It is some kind of industry and it makes a lot of noise.

And on another side of the campground you have the train tracks and it is very busy.

Another view of the seasonal area.

I come back from my walk soaked.

Our site is well located inside the campground.  We do not hear much of the industry or the trains.
We really like this campground location compare to where we were last year (Sherkston Shores).  Everything is close by.  You don't have to drive 20 minutes just to get milk.

Thursday October 11, 2018

Do I need to tell you what the weather is like?
The thingamajig that holds the drawer closed is broken.

I checked out Canadian Tire, but they did not have one like ours.  Next stop is at the local Lowe's where I found one.

It is a quick fix.

One more chore, the entrance light above the main door.  It is burnt out.
I forgot to buy one on my first trip to C.T.  So, back to C.T. and bought a new one.  All fixed now.

I also wash and waxed the upper front of the MH.  I cleaned the windshield too.

At about 2 pm, the weather started to change, we went from 22° this morning to 16° at 5 pm.

We are having the steaks tonight.  We bought them at the western festival this past September.
The steaks are about one inch thick.

It is so good!  We still have a piece left we could not eat.

A busy day.

Friday October 12, 2018

Before I canceled one of our credit cards.  We used our points to get gift card, we got a $20 McD's gift card.  Why not have breakfast at McD's this morning?

After a good breakfast, we head to the store that sells left over from other stores.  We want to buy another seat cover for our two front seats to protect them.

We went to check out another Thrift Store in the downtown are of Niagara Falls.  This is the other entertainment area of Niagara Falls.

We decided to drive by Clifton Hill to get back home.  Clifton Hill is the entertainment area near the falls.

Our street is the Lundy's Lane.  It is also the area where the battle of Lundy's Lane took place in 1814.

I guess fall is here, the maximum temperature we got was 12°.

Saturday October 13, 2018

We had some more rain overnight.

I checked the engine oil level in all three motors, the car, the MH and the generator.  All is good.
Next, I did some adjusting of the rock guard for the car.  One of the brackets was too tight.

I went for a walk and noticed another veteran's plate in the campground.
I stopped and had a nice chat with them.  They are just starting the full timing thing.

Sunday October 14, 2018

I wanted to go for a bike ride this morning, it was a little too cold for me, 9°, so I waited for this afternoon.

Right after lunch I am out on my bike.  I am going south on Lundy's Lane for about 3 km.  I have to ride on the sidewalk because the road is too narrow for me to bike with the cars.  After the first 3 km, I get on a bike path and bike along the Hydro Canal.
The is the canal.  It is 16 km long and carries water to the hydroelectric dam bellow Niagara Falls.  Just to think it was dug in the 1920's.

Near the beginning of the canal, you have this big gate that can completely stop the water flow to the hydroelectric dam.

I biked a little over 10 km by the time I get home.  Not really getting home, I first stopped for a visit with the couple I met yesterday.

Monday October 15, 2018

We did not do much today.  I had an appointment at the chiropractor because of neck and back pain, not much, but enough to make it annoying.  I was feeling much better after the appointment.  I have to come back Thursday for a follow-up.

The rest of the day was spent indoor.

Until next time.

Life is good...
