Sunday April 1, 2018

Happy Easter and Happy April Fool's day.  Both on the same day!!!

Yesterday I put away the BBQ and the BBQ table in preparation of our travel on Monday.
Today I was the MH.  WOW! The roof is almost black from the sooth, salty air, dew and sand.  This mixture has really did a number on our roof.  Two and half hours later the MH is sparkling again.

I carry on with putting stuff away for tomorrow.  The bikes are ready for the trip.

We did the last laundry this afternoon.

It is very humid today, not nice.

Monday April 2, 2018

Our grandson Gabriel has a "squishy" alligator, but it is getting old.  We have been looking for a new one.  So far we did not find one.  Today I found a "squishy" lizard.  He is looking out the window.

We are leaving Corpus Christi this morning to go to Magnolia Beach and meet up with Nicole and Marcel.

We have to go through Corpus Christi.

We are close to the coast.  The land is pretty flat around here.

In every towns and villages we drive through we can see the damaged caused by hurricane Harvey.

Where do they put all the garbage caused by Harvey?
On the median of the main highway.  Than they grind it all up and make compost.

Port Lavaca, the last town before Magnolia Beach.

One last stop at the local Walmart.

Here we are!

We should be here for two nights.

Tuesday April 3, 2018

We spent the rest of yesterday with Nicole and Marcel.
They left this morning, they are on their way to the Natchez Trace.

We watch the ship go by.  Sometimes the waves come pretty close to the MH.

Coming back from checking the water temperature.

We took a walk and saw some more damage done by Harvey.

My pretty Michele.

I even went for a dip in the bay in the afternoon.

I am laughing because our neighbor told me "I know you are peeing".

A nice warm day with a light breeze.
When we went to bed it was +25°C with lots of humidity.  It was warm for sleeping.
But by 3 am, the wind picked up and the temperature dropped.

Wednesday April 4, 2018

The wind is blowing at 50 km/h with gust up to 65 km/h.
It is not fun!

It is a good thing that the waves break quickly.
The MH and the car are covered with salt water...

We leave Magnolia Beach behind to work our way to the Natchez Trace.
As you can see, the wind is blowing pretty hard, even the palm trees have their leaves/branches tousled around.

I love the boat.

In Port Lavaca we stop at the municipal RV Park to dump the used water before continuing our travel.

I don't know what this train is transporting, but the windows look like it is an apartment building.

Just before Houston, we hit lots of road construction.

Fill the MH before Houston.

I like it when the paint the directions on the pavement.

What the heck!
A big rock coming from a big truck hits the windshield...

Going through Houston was easy even if we were at lunchtime.

After Beaumont, we left the I-10 to highway 12 towards Louisiana.

It is a nice road without the traffic. We can slowdown to 50-55 mph without bothering other drivers.

being a secondary road, we have to drive through small towns.  Lots to see.

After a while, we take highway 165 north.  It is a 4 lanes highway.

We wanted to spend the night at the casino, but Michele mentioned she needed NyQuil.  Off to the next Walmart and spend the night there.

We are at the Walmart in Oakville, Louisiana.  It is a small town and I am sure everybody knows everybody because all the men say "Hi" and all the women smile at you.

Thursday April 5, 2018

Another quiet night in a Walmart parking lot.

All winter I have been looking at this bike rack at Walmart.  All Walmart have an aisle where they put stuff they really want to get ride of at a cheap price.  This bike rick was $80, but here it was at $40.  I took it and when I paid, the lady at the cash  register told me it was even lower than $40, it was $19.95.  Good deal!

Back on 165 North this morning.  What a nice road.

This is not for sale!

Our destination, Vidalia.

Our RV Park for the night.

As soon as we were all st up, we washed the MH and the car from all the salt covering both of them.

Two hours later, we are at the pool.  The pool is not heated, but the spa is.  We take this time to plan the next few weeks before we enter back in Canada.
We look at the barges going up and down the Mississippi.

Friday April 6, 2018

The Mississippi is about 38 feet above normal at this time of the year.

I am now looking from the Mississippi to our MH.

This morning we leave the Park with our tank full of fresh water and the black and gray waste water empty.

On our way to the Walmart in Natchez before we hit the Natchez trace.
With two bridges, it is easy to fix one without too much hassle for the cars.

Goodbye Louisiana and Hello Mississippi.

In less than 15 minutes we are out of the Walmart and start the Natchez Trace.

We have a little more than one hour to get to our first campground on the Natchez Trace.
No trucks allowed here.  The speed limit is 50 mph, but we can drive at 45 mph and not bother anybody.

Nicole and Marcel saved a spot for us at the Rocky Spring campground, we are behind them.
Actually, on the photo they are on the left and in the center is Levis and Marie-Claude.  We met them last year at this campground.

Here we are behind Nicole and Marcel.  This campground has no electricity, water or sewer.  Only flush toilets.

Boy, did we talk!  We all talk about the last winter, where we have been.  We tease each other and have a great time.

It started to rain after supper.  We are under a Tornado watch and heavy thunderstorms.
By 9 o'clock we have a big thunderstorm with a lot of rain for about half an hour.
During that time I was working on the next update for the blog when a drop of water landed on my head!
I look up and see more water coming in the MH!
We now have a major leak in our MH.
We contain the water as much as possible.
Tomorrow we will have to look and find where this water is coming from.

Saturday April 7, 2018

Of course, it rained all night.  There is water, but not too bad.

Nicole and Marcel are going to Vicksburg this morning.  We go with them to buy some caulking  to fix the leak.  We did not find a place to buy the caulking, but I bought some special take to temporarily fix the leak.
The reason we have such a leak is that when the dealer changed the quarter round between the roof and the wall, they tried to use a little as little caulking as possible.  That was done at Cité Caravane in St-Eustache, Quebec.  It just proves one more time how incompetent they are.

Temperature wise, it is a somewhat nice +10°C today with a clear sky.  We spent most of the day indoor with the generator going.  I did take a small walk late afternoon.

Sunday April 8, 2018

It is warmer today, but we still need long pants and jackets.
We are having Chicken with Apricot sauce.

The result is very, very, good.

I am a back ache for the last week and it is not fun.
Michele has a cold since last Wednesday.  She is not happy either.

Monday April 9, 2018

It is a lot of fun to be here, all six of us get along very well.
I am cooking breakfast for everyone this morning.  I am cooking Matte'Muffins (like the MacMuffins).
The chef at work.

It is still on the cool side this morning.  We follow the sunny patches around the RVs.
From left to right, Levis, Marie-Claude, myself, Nicole and Marcel.  Michele is taking the photo.

Marcel found some sealant for my leaky roof.
Once we get home I will have to reseal the whole roof.  Of course, it is not covered by the extended warranty!

We did expect the weather to be cooler on the Natchez trace, after all, we are moving northward.

Tuesday April 10, 2018

Michele took this picture from inside the MH. Myself, Marcel and Nicole, we are at Levis and Marie-Claude's place looking for that patch of sun.

Marcel forgot to unplug his GPS in his car, three days later the battery is dead.
Friends to the rescue.

Marcel and Nicole are leaving tomorrow morning.  They will go to the last free campground on the Trace.  We are leaving too, but we will go to a campground in Jackson.

Wednesday April 11, 2018

Darn, no photos of Marcel and Nicole before they left.
But we did remember to take photos of Levis and Marie-Claude.
Who knows, we may meet again on the Trace further up.

Back on the Trace, but only for a little over one hour this time.  It is so relaxing driving on the Trace.

There must have been more that 50 motorcycles.

Turkey Vulture at the Buffet!

Just after Jackson, we leave the Trace behind to go to our next RV Park.

The RV Park is on the Barnett reservoir.  It is the Timberlake Campground.

We will be here for two nights.

Thursday April 12, 2018

Our site.

We did groceries, the grocery store is just across the street.  No need for the car.
We also catch up on laundry.  Tomorrow we head back to the Trace.

Friday April 13, 2018

Something happen this morning that never happend before.  Just has I finished emptying the black water, the sewer pipe underground plugged up!  I cannot drain my gray water!
They told me there was a dump station in the next park, a day use area.  Off we go only to find out the dump station is on the wrong side and it is a one way street!!!  I had to use my garden hose to empty the gray water and it took a long time.

Back across the Barnett reservoir to get back on the Trace.

The reservoir and its discharge is very popular for fishing.

Back on the Trace.

Five or six kilometers before we arrived at the campground we saw many trees down.  They must have had some strong winds or maybe a tornado.

After driving two hours on this relaxing road, we arrived at our next home.

Our site.  Last year we meet Michel and Magella at this campground.  They are right in front of us now!

We spent the whole afternoon catching up on each other's winter.  They, in Arizona and us in Texas.

We are very happy we get to meet them gain this year.

Saturday April 14, 2018

For the last few days, the forecast for today was for heavy rain, thunderstorms and tornadoes.  Today is the day!
The rain started at around 9 this morning and we could hear some thunder southwest of here, but pretty far.  The local TV station posted tornado watch for our area.  It is now 11 in the morning and the rain is falling gently, no winds, could we be lucky and no bad weather for us?

Well, the rain ended by late afternoon and we had no thunderstorms or tornadoes.

After being indoor almost all day, I went out for a walk around the campground.  I started talking to another RVer and he told me that this morning just before they left the Walmart in Jackson, they were told to get in the Walmart right now and go to the back of the store.  A tornado touched down not far from that Walmart, but they only had heavy rain, winds and thunder.

We are happy we did not see any of that here!

Sunday April 15, 2018

Brrr.  It was kind of cool here last night (6°C).  The forecast for today is 10° C and only 2° C for tonight.
We are on our way to Trace State Park near Tupelo.

Here is our site at the State Park.

The State Park is almost empty.

One we are all setup, we head to Tupelo for some groceries shopping.  Why not have lunch at the local Chinese Buffet!

The temperature is already dropping.

We will be here for two nights.  Tuesday the temperatures are supposed to go back up in the 20's.  At that time we should be at the Meriwether Lewis campground on the Natchez Trace.

Until next time.

Life is good...
