The other day I bought a used macerator for under the kitchen sink at the flea market.
The plan is to modify it and make a "poop-a-rator" and use it with the MH when needed.
Here are the steps for the modification.
This is what I bought.
I took off the coupling for the sink to replace them with a flexible
rubber coupling. At the other end of the coupling, I installed an
45° sewer hose adapter.
I am hard at work.
Next I installed the garden hose adapter (left arrow) to allow me to
fill the "Blueboy" more easily. The dishwasher connector is
plugged (right arrow). It is done, total cost? $17. 56 US,
not bad at all.
Michele was supervising.
I almost forgot, while we were at Home Depot, two Winter Texans are
next to us. All of sudden one starts to yell and scream at the
other guy for no apparent reasons. The "aggressor" is really mad
and really wants to fights. The "victim" is not understanding the
outburst. We slowly make our way away from them. We are in
Texas and who knows if one of them has a gun! The victim just
walked away to diffuse the situation. Even the two employee close
by did not get involved maybe thinking about a possible gun?

Today is a gray day and only +17°C. I spent a big part of the day working on the next blog update.
Saturday February 3, 2018
We are on our way to the flea market.
People here are very religious.
We just bought a few things and had lunch at a Mexican place.
As we drove back home, in Harlingen, we saw this Fiesta and decided to stop.
We also made a stop at the local H-E-B (grocery store) for chicken wings for the Super Bowl tomorrow.
It was a good day.
Sunday February 4, 2018
WOW! It went up to +30°C today.
We did some reading, internet at the club house, biking.
We watched the Super Bowl 2018 on TV.
When you say football, you say beer, chips and chicken wings.
It was a good football game.
Monday February 5, 2018
Michele has a great idea for today. She wants to shop /browse
some stores, like the Thrift Shop, Fallas and the 99¢ Only
stores. She suggested that I go and watch a movie while she is
shopping. What a great idea!
I am going to watch the movie Downsizing. This is a win/win solution.
Tuesday February 6, 2018
During my daily bike ride in the RV Park, I came across this weird contraption. It is a motorized picnic table.
I am starting to put stuff away in the MH basement in preparation of our move on Thursday.
I am doing it today because the forecast for tomorrow is about 80% chances of rain.
Here I am taking a break because it is hot and humid today
(+29°C).
The motorized picnic table on the move.
It is our last bingo at Tropic Winds.
We even have a nice sunset.
Once again, no gains at bingo.
Wednesday February 7, 2018
It is very nice this morning, but very humid (22°C).
Today's forecast is for thunderstorms through-out the day. By 10
am, a cold front swipes through the area and by 4 pm the temperature is
only +9°C . The thunderstorms did not materialize, but a
cold wind and light rain makes it miserable.
Another indoor day.
Thursday February 8, 2018
Time to move!
It is a good thing we did not have lots of rain yesterday because the MH would have left some pretty deep ruts in the grass.
With the car in tow, we head out of the park.
Three kilometers later we enter the interstate 69E south.
Notice how short the on-ramp is. The traffic is going by at 70MPH and a MH does not accelerate that fast.
They really have some good message on the billboards in the
Valley. Is this one a joke on the President Trump and his old TV
show "The Apprentice"?
53 km later we arrive at the Alamo Palms RV Resort in Alamo.
Once we are set up, we notice the car has a flat tire. It happened in the RV Park.
Off to Walmart to get it fixed.
The flat tire was caused by a screwdriver bit like this one.
We watched the opening ceremony of the Pyeongchang Olympics Gamed 2018 on TV.
Really nice!
Friday February 9, 2018
Michele is sleeping late this morning and I go for a bike ride in the RV Park.
As I mentioned before, RC racing is very big here in the valley.
They even have a crawl section. It is on the left and the dirt racing is on the right.
Today they are having a big race.
A closer look at the crawl track.
And the racing track. Actually there are two tracks here, the
outer is an oval track and inside the oval is a figure eight track.
Next to the racetracks is a small clubhouse.
Attached to the club house is a nice patio.
The book exchange library is very big, this is only one third of the library.
I have never seen these kinds of bikes in a RV Park before.
Time to wash the MH.
We have been invited for tea or whatever we drink, at four o'clock this afternoon and chat with the people of our street.
The people are very friendly.
And we keep watching the Olympics Game.
Saturday February 10, 2018
They have breakfast at the big clubhouse this morning. Michele and I went.
Here is my plate!
It is 90°F
(+32°C) outside, so off to the pool we went.
While watching the Games and cooking a fillet mignon on the BBQ, a nice sunset!
A very good day.
Sunday February 11, 2018
We decided to go and walk at the big flea market "Mercadome" of Alamo. It is less that two kilometers from the RV Park.
A mountain of teddy bears.
Used shoes!
From food, produce, Mexican bands, new and used items, we really like this flea market.
This is a real chihuahua dressed up in a Mexican outfit.
Around noon, the winds picks up and the temperature dropped from +22°C to +10 by two o'clock.
We have been full timing for the last 8 years now and we have been in
the Rio Grande Valley three times and the three times it was an unusually cold winter!
For us, it seems like it is always cold here!
Michele went to check out the local thrift shoppes in the area and I worked on the next update of the blog.
Monday February 12, 2018
An ordinary day, cool temperature are still here.
Michele went to the Thrift Shops in McAllen and I went geocaching
during that time. Most caches are spread apart in the
valley. I found only two out of three. The last one was at
a cemetery so I took the time to check with the office if there was any
Matte in this cemetery. Nope. Not in this one. I am
doing this for my brother who is into genealogy!
This monument is really something, it is better in real.
Back home, we continued to watch the Olympics.
Tuesday February 13, 2018
We are still in the cold front coupled with light rain. It is 13°C.
With nothing to do, I go for a walk to take you on a visit of our RV Park.
First off is the entrance of the RV Park. We are right off Business 83.
We are located about 2 miles west of Bit-O-Heaven where we spent the month of November.
This RV Park has a vast majority of permanent resident and Winter
Texans in mobile homes. We are in the RV area on the south-west
side of the park.
The Alamo Palms was built in 1972 and it shows with the RV lot size, small!
It is still a nice RV Park with a little over 600 sites.
As you can see on the photos, lot of sites are empty. We were told that there was more RVs this year!
Another street with empty lots.
This is the first time we saw those types of cactus as big.
A street with only mobile homes.
Next to the race RC racetrack is another small club house.
Here you have Karaoke, square dancing, darts, ping-pong and a few other activities.
This is the mobile homes area. The live oak are so big. Many of the mobile homes have nice front yards.
The main hall.
The two center arrows point to the main hall. Here you have the
office, postal box, kitchen, bingo, stage with dance floor, pickelball
courts and a few other activities. The left arrow point to the
shuffle courts and the right arrow points to the pool and hot tub.
The shuffleboards. There are 20 of them.
The main hall.
The pool.
Hot tub in the foreground.
We got a nice 50°F (11°C) near the pool.
Behind the pool is the pool hall with a section for arts & crafts.
It is a big pool hall.
Across the street is the gym building.
Pretty well equipped.
That concludes the tour of Alamo Palms RV Park.
The warm weather is supposed to come back tomorrow, we will see!
Wednesday February 14, 2018
Happy Valentine Day Michele!
A cloudy day, but the weather is warm and getting warmer.
First place we went this morning is at the Donna flea market next
to the RV Park Bit-O-Heaven where we spent the month of November.
There are fewer sellers today, must be because of Valentine Day.
I finally tried some "Espiropapas".
What is it?
It is a potato cut in a spiral and deep fried. You can add ketchup to hot sauce, whatever you like. It is OK.
After the Donna flea market, we head for the next one. This one is the Mercadome in Alamo.
The section with the permanent seller is closed, but the parking lot is
open to the local sellers. This is more like a giant yard sale
and fruits and veges. We go here a little to late and many
sellers were already gone.
A section of the flea market.
The things you see!
A motorcycle made out of an old sewing machine, meat grinder,
etc. There is a tractor made with a C clamp and a few other work
of art. I find them pretty nice.
When we were in Tropic Winds in Harlingen we had our photo taken.
We received an email that they were ready. Here is one of them.
It is 26°C and we are not complaining.
Thursday February 15, 2018
We are back to normal temperature and that means between 28°C and 31°C for the next week or so.
We are spending the afternoon with our friends Nicole and Marcel who are camping at Pleasant Valley Resort.
We talked a lot and even went for a nice walk. Spring is coming and the flowers are coming out slowly.
