Sunday December 16, 2018


A noon today, we are having the Christmas parade in the park.


The peoples were ready for the parade.


Hummm! Not very big for a parade!
We can see the bikes on the car.  This morning I packed all I could pack because we are moving to another RV Park tomorrow.

Th last four golf carts were from the work campers.  I love the sing on the back of the last golf cart.


As to why are we moving tomorrow?  We have been here for a month and we want to see the "other" side of Yuma.
We will be at the Western Sands RV Park, about 25 km east of here.



Monday December 17, 2018


We are moving today.
Ready for take-off.


Michele was driving the car to get to the other RV Park.  No need to hook it up to the MH, it is only 25 km away.


We even took the Interstate.


15 minutes later we arrived at our new home.


Once we were installed, we went for a walk and checked out the amenities.

The small exchange book library.


With our visit done, we went back to the pool and spa for a dip.  It was very good.
 

It is kind of hard to see, but the fountain is made out of wine bottles and grapes.  Really cute.


So far, our first impression of this park is very good.



Tuesday December 18, 2018


This morning when I looked outside, I saw our neighbor doing their exercises.


We just had a nice relaxing day, but we did go out for a little while to show Michele where the Goodwill was located.

Tonight was bingo night and Michele was hot.


She won $124.00.  WOW!  Bravo Michele.



Wednesday December 19, 2018


I went for a walk in the RV Park this morning.
Here are a few photos of the park and the MH.
 


The people you can see were playing Shuffleboard.


They played with a bowling pin in the middle of the game.  Weird!


A view of the amenities complex.  Here you have the office, the activity hall, the mail room, the library, the laundry, the game room and the washrooms.


This is the patio and this is where the Happy Hour takes place every day from 4 to 6 pm.  They even have two propane fireplaces.


After I had got back home, I started to wash the MH.
We could only wash the front and the left side of the MH because the paint was too hot on the right-hand side.


Somewhere around two thirty, we had the Christmas parade in the Park.  They actually came from the RV Park next door.  This parade was much better then the one we saw at Friendly Acres RV Park.

I tried another small bottle of Jim Bean.


This one was apple flavored and it was good.



Thursday December 20, 2018


I finished washing the right-hand side of the MH this morning, just before it got to hot.
It is all clean now, at least until tomorrow when it will be covered with a light coating of dust.  This is Yuma after all.


After I was done, I washed the rags in our hand washing machine.  It is the white bucket with a toilet plunger.
Our rags came out really clean compare to the washing machine at the laundry room.


Jeremy sent us a photos of Gabriel's Christmas gift we "bought" him.
Gabriel is a smart kid and I think he will know right away what it is.


One nice sunset.


This RV Park is noisy compare to Friendly Acres, mostly because the Interstate is only 250 meters away from where we are.



Friday December 21, 2018


This morning we went back to the furniture store to have another look at the sofa we liked.  We also did some other shopping because we want to beat the Christmas crowd in the stores.  As far as the sofa goes, we will pick another colour when we buy.
 

We had cloudy skies today, so I washed the windows.
 

We got another photo from Jeremy, this one is when he picked up Gabriel so he could be with him and Kristin over Christmas time.


We went to the spa and the pool during the evening.

Another great day.



Saturday December 22, 2018


Yesterday, we bought a spiraled cooked ham.  It was way too big for one meal, so carved it into portions for two.  We ended up with 9 meals for two.  The ham only cost $0.99 a pound and the total cost was less than $10.  Great!

Sometime the best day is when you do not have plans.
We went to visit our neighbors.  They are from Quebec.
We were at Gaetan and Michelle's place.  Christiane, Gaetan's sister, is also here for two weeks with her husband Jean-Louis.
We even had a few neighbors come for a visit, Carroll and Angie.  We sure had a lot of laughters.


We looked at the rising moon.  Someone told us that they had a place in Yuma where you can go and listen to music and howl at the moon when it rises over the mountain.  It is called Howling at the Moon.  We will go and check it out tomorrow.


Gaetan has a propane fireplace, but his connection to propane is too far.  I brought my propane tank, so we could have a fire.
Low and behold, I ran out of propane 30 minutes later!


This evening we had the lighted Christmas parade.
The photos are not very good, but, hey!
 


Since our fire was out, we all went to the patio and used the fireplace there.
I forgot to take photos at the patio.
We had a great evening with our new friends.



Sunday December 23, 2018


Another easy day at home.
But this evening we went to the Howling at the Moon.  The Howling at the Moon started in 2016.  A group of people decided to go in the desert and look at the rising of the full moon over the mountain and listen to a little music.  This event takes place from October until April and only takes place the day before the full moon, the day of the full moon and the day after the full moon.  Some night, they can have as many as 1,000 people howling at the moon.


Tonight is the day after the full moon.  It will only be 98% full.  The moon should appear at around 7:20 pm.
On our way there, we stopped at Little Ceasars to pick up a pizza.  We will eat it while listening to music and waiting for the rising moon.


The site of the Howling is located on the east side of town and it is a little higher in elevation than the city.  We can see the sunset much better.


The music is by "Two Old Guys".  They played old rock & roll songs and some western music too.  Many people were dancing.
As you can see, the Canadian flag is always present, next to the U.S. flag.  Here is something a little funny.  The Canadian flag was floating the wind, yet the U.S. flag was not...
 

It is kind of hard to see, but this a skeleton (plastic) of a dog howling at the moon.


The music stopped so we could all turn towards the rising moon over the mountain.


And we Howled, all 150 peoples there howled.


Some had brought propane fire pits to keep warm.


The music continued for another hour and it was over.  We left a little earlier.

There was not as many people as usual because the full moon was yesterday.
The next full moon is on January 20 and if we are in the area, we will come for sure.



Monday December 24, 2018


We are having a relaxing day at home.  I did go for a visit with our friends, Gaetan, Jean-Louis, Michelle and Christianne.

Tuesday December 25, 2018


Merry Christmas!


Jeremy sent us this photo and asked us to skype later on today.


And skyping we did.  Gabriel is growing up quickly, he will turn 7 this spring.


Christmas Dinner is at the club house to night.  The RV Park supplies the turkey and hams and we, the campers, supply the rest of the meal.  We are bringing a "poor man pudding".


There was a lot of people for the meal.
On Michele's left, you have Gaetan and Jean-Louis.


Across from Gaetan, his wife Michelle and Christianne, the wife of Jean-Louis.


We were literally in the middle of the room.  Our meal was very good.


There was almost too much food to chose from.
 

We had a lot of fun with Gaetan, Michelle, Jean-Louis and Christianne.  But, like most RV Park we have been to, the meal is at 5 pm and by 6:15 pm you are almost kicked out of the club house.  You cannot even enjoy a nice talk after your meal, out!  So, we came back to the patio to have a nice camp fire.  No luck for us, both propane fire places were empty.  We still stayed and chatted for a while.  Michele and I went to the hot tub after the non-fire.
This was a nice Christmas.

Wednesday December 26, 2018


We had the visit of our friends Barry, Rose and Rose's sister, Bettie.  It was fun to see them again and we promised to visit again before we leave on January 17.

After lunch, we went to Wellton to have a look at the RV Parks in this little town.  We had to go over Telegraph Pass.


We had to drive through the Border Patrol check point, nothing to worry.


Wellton, here we came!


We visited a few RV Parks, but only those two looked promising.
 

When we got back to Yuma, we made a quick stop at Walmart where I finally got my $20 vacuum cleaner.



Thursday December 27, 2018


It is Christmas time, why not go to Lin's one more time.  This time the food was not hot, barely warm.  We have to remember to come after 12.30 to have hot food.


My brand-new one gallon vacuum cleaner.  It works great.


Tonight, I am trying another bottle of Jim Beam.  This one is with peppermint.


We went to the hot tub before supper.

We purchased the season 8 and final season of the TV series Castle.  We bought it at Amazon for $26.  A little expensive, but considering we got the first 7 seasons for free, not bad at all.


Guess what we will be doing tonight?  Yep!  Couch potatoes, watching Castle for the next few evenings.



Friday December 28, 2018


We are starting a cold spell today and it should go on until January 6th.  We will be having maximums of 14° C on most days.

I spent most of the day doing some small chores around the MH.
As for Michele, she knitted a pair of slippers.


Ta-da!
 

And the pair she knitted earlier this week.


Hummm!  Cooking supper, all this chicken cost us only $1.90.
 

One more nice sunset, but the temperatures is dropping fast right now.

Saturday December 29, 2018


Today, we got to skype with Jeremy, Kristin and Gabriel.  Gabriel is going back to his mom tomorrow morning.


Gabriel has been playing hockey since the fall and he loves it.


Michele went shopping and I went for a walk, a nice 3.5 km.




Sunday December 30, 2018


I was a lazy morning for me.

But!  After lunch, we went out and did some geocaching.
This one was called, "Needle in the haystack".
 

Each place we go geocaching has a different "style" of cache, like a personal signature.
This type of caches is rare in this area.
 

Do not walk under the wires...


Ah, the things we saw!


Even this critter on the wall!


We found 9 caches with 2 or 3 we did not find.

When we got back home, I went to sit in the sun with Gaetan and Michelle with a beer.  Michele stayed home and read outside.

Monday December 31, 2018


Last day of 2018!

We had cloudy skies and even some rain during the day.


We went to the hot tub late in the afternoon.  The last time in 2018.


By 5 pm, we were sitting in front of the TV to watch comedy shows reviewing 2018.


A simple meal as we watched TV.


Until next year.

Life is good...
