Monday October 16, 2015

We left North Shore RV Park at about 8 am.

Thanks again Jan and Jannie for welcoming us.

Toronto, here we come.

We arrived in Toronto after the morning rush hour.
Toronto is so easy to drive across compare to Montreal.

We left the MH in a Walmart near Odette's place and went to visit Odette.
We had a good time with Odette.

After a few hours, we were back at the MH.  We also took the time to do some grocery shopping at Walmart and we watched some TV during the evening.

It was a good day.

Tuesday October 17, 2017

For those of you who wonder if it is safe to spend the night in a Walmart parking lot is dangerous?  No but!
You still have to be aware of where you are.  Just look at the neighborhood the Walmart is located in and you can figure out if it is safe or not.  If you have nice boutique type of store around the Walmart, it is probably safe.  Having said that, if you have a "bad" feeling about the place, go somewhere else.  We only had to move once since we started in 2010 and it was because we were near a bar and it was a Friday evening.  Remember to always ask permission to park because some of them do not allow you to park overnight.  Never ask if you can camp, but ask to park overnight.

What a surprise this morning!  Frost on the car!

Getting out of Toronto was a little busier.  Traffic was heavy, but still moved along pretty good.  We only had to wait for about 45 minutes because we had to go from three lanes to only one because of an accident on the other side of the bridge.

We leave the highway behind and what do we see?
A giant Rubik cube!

We are getting closer to our destination.

Halloween is coming soon and the leaves have not change colour yet!

Our new home.

With the MH ready, I took the bikes of the car.

What is this?
An oil stain!
I looked under the car and I could see where it was coming from.  It was coming from the area where the axle goes into the transmission.

I did some research on the internet and found a garage close to here with good reviews.  I went and checked it out and made an appointment for tomorrow morning.  They will change the seal on the axle.

Our new home for the next two weeks.

It is very windy right now with winds at 40 km/h,  gusting at 60 km/h.

Wednesday October 18, 2017

On my way to the garage I hit a "Goose Jam" at the beach!

The sun is getting up later and later.

I left my car at the garage and they gave me a ride back home.

I took a walk in the RV Park and noticed a new doggy park.  It has a small dog section and a big dog section.

As you know, I missed my eye doctor appointment last week.  I took another one here.  It is a 12:15 h tomorrow.

The garage called to say the car was ready.  They came to pick me up at around 2 pm this afternoon.

I also asked them to check the transmission oil to see if it needed changing and it did.
The bill was only $367.25 for the repair and the transmission oil change, not bad.

Thursday October 19, 2017

One more very windy day.  The winds blow at 50 km/h,  gusting at 66 km/h.
I spent the morning working on the next update of our blog.

We left for Welland for my eye doctor appointment at around eleven fifteen.

Here I am.

My eye exam went very well.  It looks like I am a possible candidate for laser eye surgery, but first they have to send the results to the Toronto Laser Eye Center (TLC) and from there we will see.

They put some eyedrop to dilate my pupils.

Darn!  We still have an oil leak on the car.
I will have to go to the garage again tomorrow.

Friday October 20, 2017

First thing I did this morning, I went back to the garage.  I have an appointment for Monday morning.

On my way back from the garage, the car passed the 140,000 km mark.  This is without counting the other 100,000 being pulled behind the MH.

We always like those short messages you sometime see at churches.

During the afternoon, we stopped at the local used furniture store/warehouse and liquidation place to check it out.
Lots of stuff here.

The weather for this time of year is incredible, +21°C now and until Monday.

Saturday October 21, 2017

The wind has finally died down.  Off for a walk I go.
One of the many beaches on Lake Erie.

So busy, I had to change the inner tube on Michele's bike.

A very good Saturday with some walking, reading and the weather is so nice.

Sunday October 22, 2017

Another beautiful day fore casted.
And another walk in the RV Park.

The view from the back window of the MH.

Now a panoramic view of the quarry behind the MH.

We did a lot of reading.
I spend as much time outside as I could because next week it is suppose to get down to the normal temperature for this time of the year, +10°C.
So far we have been spoiled this fall.

Monday October 23, 2015

I am back at the garage this morning.
This time they should fix it for good.

Well!  I think this time it is fixed.  When I got home it was no leaking.

Tuesday October 24, 2017

During my morning walk, I saw this warning sign.
Turtles and snakes.

We went to Port Colborne to renew my prescriptions for the winter.

Michele took that time to shop the local thrift shops.

When we got back home, I took a quick look under the car to check for a leak.  There seems to be a few drops of oil again.  I will take the car for a quick drive tomorrow and double check.

We had some very strong winds and the way it hits the MH it makes the awning flap in the wind.  It sure makes a lot of noise.  We decided to close the slide with the noisy awning for the night.  We will sleep better without the noise.

Wednesday October 25, 2017

Look what I saw when I open the front blind?

One of the portable shed came unhooked and rolled with the wind.  Actually, one of the anchor points still held it.  If it let go, it would come right at the MH.

Look what I saw during breakfast?

A complete rainbow!

The winds died down during the morning and I could open the slide again.
It rained all day and I could not check for the oil leak.

Thursday October 26, 2017

We lost power this morning.
We had no thunder storm in the area or high winds!
During my walk, I checked with the office and was told that they were changing a power pole and power would be back later this  afternoon.
With the power gone, we had no water either because the pumps were not working either.
A good thing I kept the fresh water tank full.

We are back in Port Colborne to pick up my prescriptions.
One of the bridge is open on the Welland Canal.

This ship is going to the lock.

We could use this bridge.

Our destination.

With this job done, we shop for the last minute things we need.

We have never seen one like this before!

Cute way to advertise your sub shop.

When we got back home, we waited for power to come back on.
When power came back on at 3:45 pm, we did some laundry.
Michele at work!

With a +10°C today, it is not very warm.

Update for the car.  No leaks.

Friday October 27, 2017

The second last thing we have to do before we leave for Texas is changing our two front tires on the car.
Without getting into the details, when you tow a front wheel car on all four tires on the road, the front two tires wear a little faster than normal. It is normal.  So, every two years we have to change our two front tires (the new ones go on the back).  Regardless of the quality of the tires, it hardly makes a difference.
Walmart tires do the job at a good cost.

We also bought a new GPS.
Our old GPS was getting old and we could not do updates on it anymore.  Remember that we use a GPS a lot more than most people.  We are in a new city, town most of the time and need the GPS to find stores and other things, like getting back to our new home...
Here it is, a Garmin Nuvï 68LM.  Why do they always change the way you input things in the GPS?

On our way back from Walmart, we looked for some geocaches.
Here is one of them.

A buzzard having lunch on a roadkill while his two friends look down from the tree.

Another geocache and this one was hard to find.
Michele finally found it.

From the geocache we could see the beach.

Look at the pretty people on the beach!

We had a nice +17°C today, but tomorrow it will change.

Saturday October 28, 2017

I forgot, we had one last thing to do before we leave for the USA.
A Drive Clean Test on our car so I can renew our plates this winter.

Fifteen minutes later we were done and the car passed the test no problems.

From Port Colborne, we continued to Welland to shop some Thrift Shops.
Some murals in Welland.

Brrr!  only +6°C today.
The new tires are running good and so is the GPS.

We have done something we usually don't do when we leave Canada to go down the States.  We booked our first night in a campground.
Why?  Because it will be October 31st, Halloween.  Some kids may be tempted to cause mischief in a Walmart parking lot.  So, we will take no chances and go to a campground for that night.

Sunday October 29, 2017

Rain and more rain.  It is noon and it is only +6C.

We checked the weather in St. Louis and Louisville because we would like to stop there and visit, but it will not be warm in both cities.
I guess we will stop another time!  The "Nous sommes ici" means "We are here".

If all goes well, we should leave Canada on Tuesday morning.

Monday October 30, 2015

A boring day, lots of rain and strong winds.
We spent the day reading and watching TV.

We also did some packing for traveling tomorrow.

Tuesday October 31, 2017

We are on the move!  It is +3°C this morning.

Going through customs was easy again this year.

USA, here we come!

The first two hours were under rain, snow and even ice pellets.  Now, it did not snow hard, just a sprinkle.

We were a little surprised that the toll road had not increased this year.

We had a few rain showers throughout Pennsylvania.

The rain finally stopped once we were in Ohio, but the wind was still strong.

We stopped for gas for the MH.
At $0.76 CDN per liters, we saved about $60 compare to Ontario.

Now I want a french fries!

We made a quick stop at Walmart to replenish our fridge.
Milk was $0.97 per gallon and the eggs were at $0.87 a dozen.

Traffic was light and the roads were nice.

There was a big storm over New England and Eastern Canada and there was a lot of people without electricity.  We must have seen 50 of those trucks going east.

I was expecting to see a lot of Trump poster, but we saw just the usual lot of US flags.

It was +19°C when we arrived in Columbus.

It was a good day traveling regardless of the rain and wind.
We covered 570 km today.

Until next time.

Life is good...
