1 to 15 November 2017   16 to 30 November 2017

Wednesday November 1, 2017

It was warm enough this morning to wear shorts and sandals.
We left the RV Park at around 8 am.

The first part of our travel this morning was on secondary roads.
That was a big spider!

We drove through a few villages.

We had about two hours of rain first thing this morning and the rest of the day was cloudy.

Kentucky, here we come.

One more fill up, this one at $0.82 CDN per liters.

At least the road was not too boring, we had things to look at.

Our home for the night in Franklin.

We traveled 565 km from Columbus to Franklin.

Thursday November 2, 2017

It was still warm when we got back on the road.
We left the RV Park at 8 am.

A few minutes later we entered Tennessee.  The roads were so nice.

We saw some cotton fields that had not been harvested yet.

Cotton balls!

The closer we got to the Mississippi River, the more the dirt turned red.

A big truck transporting two small trucks!  So cute.

We crossed the Mississippi River to enter Arkansas.

Our RV Park for the next two nights.  We had to go over the levee to get to the RV Park.

We were wondering where we were going!
Look!  Tom Sawyer coming back from fishing.

From Franklin to West Memphis, we traveled 426 km.

On the east side of the river, you have Memphis, Tennessee.  We are in West Memphis, Arkansas on the west side of the river.

Friday November 3, 2017

It is going to be a hot and muggy day.  We even had a thunder storm this morning.

Our site.

The Mississippi River.

The washrooms and laundry room are on a trailer.
The reason for this is that every spring, this RV Park floods.  When this happens, they can move the trailer before the water comes.

A tugboat pushing barges up the Mississippi River.

One section of the RV Park.

We were really close to the river.  The red arrow shows a tugboat on the river.

There are two houses in the trees.

Some people really do not look after their RV!

It seems these stairs are going nowhere, but they actually go to the electrical panel.  When the RV Park floods, you can have up to 15 feet of water here.

We decided to go into town this afternoon.

A good recipe.

It was not that great of a flea market.

West Memphis seems to be rather poor.

The downtown area is falling part.  This building right on main street has trees growing inside it!

A cute way to advertise you dry cleaning business.

Michele had noticed this little man fishing on our way in the park.
There he is.

Even the office is a trailer.  In 2011, they had 10 feet of water here.

I was hooking up the car to the MH for tomorrow.

Saturday November 4, 2017

We were on the road early this morning.  It was 7:30 when we left.

We had cloudy skies for a big part of the morning.

For a change, we had a few hours of rain!

This was the first time we saw a rest area that allows camper to stay overnight.

To go around Little Rock, we wanted to use the 440 west, but surprise!  Nothing moves.
Lucky for us, enough people took the 440 east so we could take it too.  It allowed us do a little detour.

That detour made going around Little Rock easier.

Our destination for the night..

The city is half in Arkansas and half in Texas.  Our campground is on the Texas side.

It was run down RV Park, but at $17 a night, we won't complain.

It was 30°C today.  Since we hit warmer weather, we have more bug on the windshield.

We took a walk in the RV Park to pay for the night.  We could not find the man in charge.
You can see the quality of the resident living here!

Our site.

A 470 km traveling day.

Sunday November 5, 2017

We had a strong headwind all day today.

A neat idea!

Want a slice of watermelon or some junk?

We were off the interstate today, but it was just as nice,

One more stop at Walmart to purchase some ants killing stuff.

Going to our next home.

Our site, very nice.

We only drove 430 km today, but with the wind it was not fun.

Monday November 6, 2015

Another day at 35°C.
We still had a headwind, but it was not as strong.
We left Waco at around 8 am heading to Alice, south of San Antonio.

Funny name for a town!

We had to go through Autin.  The traffic was OK.

The message is clear!

Our friends, M&M's.

Downtown Austin.

We stopped for our last fill up this year for the MH.
We paid $0.73 per litres.

The things we see!

It was really warm and the AC from the engine still manage to keep us cool.

We left the Interstate behind to take the State route 281 south towards Alice.

One of the first Cactus we saw this fall.

Another mediocre RV Park, but really cheap with Passport America.

We drove 500 km today.

We could have made it to Donna today, but we would have arrived at suppertime.  We do not like setting up later than 4 pm.  So, we camped in Alice tonight.

Tuesday November 7, 2017

Sure enough, we still had headwind today.
It was already 26°C when we were hooking up the car at 8 am.

Coyote country?

A quick stop at Walmart.

And back on 281 south.

The wind changed direction, it was coming from the east now.

When we arrived in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV), we took Interstate 2 east and took the exit for Val Verde Rd and our RV Park.

Our RV Park is in the town of Donna.

Coming in Bit-O-Heaven RV Park.

It was so hot (35°C) that we set up just the basic, went and paid our site for the month.  Came back and went to the pool to meet the friends we made in 2014/2015.  It was fun to see them again.

A short traveling day today, 195 km.

It was so nice to finally arrive at our destination.

Wednesday November 8, 2017

We forgot to take photos today!
We did wash the MH and car.  We took a walk to the flea market next door to the RV Park.
Spent a large amount of time in the pool during the afternoon.
With the rain we were having throughout the day, we are not fully set up yet.
Rain came during the evening and the temperature dropped.

Thursday November 9, 2017

It was a cool 11°C this morning.
I spent the morning working on the update for our blog.
Michele did some laundry in the afternoon.

No pool time today.
We are not all set up yet.  A first for us.

Friday November 10, 2017

The weather stayed almost the same today.  We reached 18°C today and the warm weather should come back tomorrow.

We went visiting the area and did a little grocery shopping at the H-E-B and Walmart.
The majority of the resident in the RGV are Hispanics.  The grocery stores have a lot more Hispanic food.  I guess this is why they sell pig's head in grocery stores!

Rain and more rain!

Saturday November 11, 2017

Thank you to all men and women who served and are still serving today.
Why the Poppy?

With all the rain we have been getting and will get, I did put some stuff for ants, but the rain washes it all away.
I put a little ant poison on our patio.

This was what happened in five minutes.

Now, twenty minutes later.

It was a nice 26°C and we are on our way to the pool.
Our site.

As expected, rain came during the evening.

Sunday November 12, 2017

They had a pool party at the indoor pool today.  We had hot-dogs and munches for all who attended.  I forgot to take any photo of the party!  My bad.
It was very hot inside the pool building, even with the doors open.

After the pool party, we went to the outdoor pool.
As you can see, we are almost all setup.

The outdoor pool.  There is even a hot tub.
Everybody was very nice and we had a lot of fun.

Here, I was chatting with Murielle.

Louise, she is mischievous!

And for a change, we had rain in the evening.
Tomorrow we should be going to Nuovo Progresso, Mexico and get my tooth fixed.

Monday November 13, 2015

We woke up to rain this morning, no trip to Mexico for us today.

It was a morning for reading and surfing the net.

The rain stopped in the afternoon, but we still had a few sprinkle here and there.
Murielle and Gilles invited us over to taste some fried spinach.  Andre and Louise were also with us.
Fried Spinach?  It was good, different, but good.

Today, I went to talk to Gilles and unknowingly stopped on a fire ants nest.  In less than 5 seconds I had 10 of them on my foot.  Five or six of them managed to bite me before I got them all off.  The bites hurts and burns at the same time, not fun.

It was bingo night at the park.  There was not a lot of people.  It was because the Winter Texan are not all here yet.

The pros, Michele won one bingo ($3), but it costs $3.50 for all our cards...

A good day.

Tuesday November 14, 2017

We finally made it to Mexico.  It was warm, 30°C.

Mexico.

My dentist is located at the purple tooth building.
I am getting one of my front crown repaired/replaced.  It fell off last summer.
The dentist had a little problem getting the old crown off.  He prepared my tooth for the post and took prints for my new crown.  I was on the chair for about one hour and half.
My next appointment is on November 29.

By the time I was done with the dentist, it was lunchtime.  I could not eat for another hour to give time for the glue on my temporary crown to set properly.  Why not have a good frozen Margarita while waiting for the hour to pass!

There has been a lot of renovation since the last time we were here during the winter of 2014-2015.
This store was pretty shabby back then, but now all is new and better.

The Pancho Bar was pretty small, but now it includes a restaurant.

Here we are with our frozen margarita.  We ate tacos and natchos.  With our drinks, it costs $343.03 pesos, or $18.90 US.

We had never seen tequila in a one gallon plastic jug!

The big Canada Store is also being renovated.

On our way back home, we passed thru Weslaco, TX.  The downtown area is pretty.

As soon as we were back home, we headed to the pool.  It was 30°C outside and the pool was at 32°C.

Wednesday November 15, 2017

As usual, on Wednesday we went for our walk in the small Mexican flea market nest door to the RV Park.
This is a cute way to advertise that you sell  corn on a cub.  BTW, corn on the cub here is not very good, not as sweet as ours up north.

Once again, at around 3 pm, we went and joined our friends in the pool for an hour or two.  Michele even went to the hot tub.

Over the pass few years, I could not go in the pool.  I would end up with a skin rash.  I had some cream left over from a prescription from last summer.  I used it just to see if it would work.  IT DOES!
I can go in the pool now.

Until next time.

Life is good...
