Thursday November 16, 2017

Our plan for the winter is to stay in one RV Park for a month and then change RV Park for the next month and so on.  We want to see and experience different area of the Rio Grande Valley.  We traveled west from Donna to the city of Mission looking for a RV Park that would suits our need.  Mission is about 35 km west of Donna.

This used to be a drive-thru beer and wine store.

We visited five different RV Park that could fit our needs.
This one had a cute stop sign.

Beautiful.

We finally found what we were looking for at Blue Bonnet RV Resort near Mission.  Now we decided to go home and wait a few days before we actually book our stay at this park.  Just to make sure this is the one we want.

We had lunch at the Grand China Buffet before we went home.

We want to switch site at our RV Park, why?  Two reasons for that, the first reason is the lack of shade we currently have.  Because of the way our MH slide is, our awning does not provide much shade until about two in the afternoon.  When it is +30°C, it is important to have shade if you want to sit outside.  The second reason for moving is the bird poop.  Our neighbor behind us feeds the birds and they poop on everything.
Just before we went home from Mission, we stopped at the office to ask if they had something available on the other row behind us.  We do not mention the poop issue.
They do!  We will move tomorrow morning.

Where did we go in the afternoon?  In the pool.

Friday November 17, 2017

This is our new site and we are very happy that we moved.

A view of our street and our MH.  It is tight a little, but that is the way it is in most RV Park.  Unless you pay a lot more money for your site.

The same site in Florida would cost us between $800 to $1,000 + electricity, if not more.  Here in Texas, it only costs $400 + electricity.  The more time you stay, the cheaper it gets per month.  Five months only cost $285 per month.

We decided to go and check out the other flea market, the Mercadome in San Juan.
It is a little difficult to see in this photo, but on the table there was a large pile and I mean pile of auto parts thrown together on these tables.

Lots of piñata for sale, close to a hundred.

We had a nice 34°C today.

In the middle of the evening the wind picked up and it was strong, all that because we had a cold front coming our way.

Sunday November 19, 2017

It got cool last night, 15°C.  We reached 22°C today and I used this cooler weather to unpack some more.  I got the wheel covers out for the MH, I got more chairs out of the basement and I also found our pétanque balls so we can play this evening.

We went for a nice bike ride in the RV Park, 6 km to bike all the roads in the park.

After supper, we played pétanque with other campers.  It was a good mixture of anglophones and francophones.

We had a good time playing pétanque.

A nice day in the Rio Grande Valley.
Pool, books and a warm sun, the temperature overs at around +28°C, super!

We have skyped with our oldest son Jeremy and he told us he had a little accident while playing hockey on base.  He really broke his ankle.  That was Friday, Saturday he was operated on and now he has metal plates in his ankle.  He also has a cast for the next 6 or 8 weeks.  As we get more news, we will keep you updated.

We headed back to Mission at Blue Bonnet RV Park to book our site for December.  We were lucky, we found an advertisement for 50% off for the first month.  They even honored it!  So, instead of paying $400 for the month, we are paying only $200.00.

Tuesday November 21, 2017

Another pool and reading day.  I also did some biking around the Park.

We were invited for birthday party for Murielle at Louise and Andre's place.
Louise and Andre have a nice mobile home with a nice covered deck.

Andre and Louise in the first photo and on the next photo, Gilles, Paul Anita and my pretty Michele.

The first photo, from L to R, Louise, Michel, Murielle, Lauraine, Maurice, Gilles and a little bit of Paul.

Happy Birthday Murielle!

One nice thing about this RV park is the French (Quebec) people and mixing with the anglophone community.

Wednesday November 22, 2017

We skyped again with Jeremy today.
They had to cut the cast because it was too tight because of the swelling.
He is much better today.

A nice day at the RV Park.

Thursday November 23, 2017

Our two front wheels on the car were out of balance.  Time to get it fixed.  A quick stop at Nino's Tire Repair and $15 later, it was done.

There are many of these small tire shop in the Valley.

They RV Park is celebrating the Thanksgiving Dinner today at 1 pm.  The Park supplies the turkey and ham, the resident, the rest.  It was like a potluck.

Linda took a photo of me taking a photo...

The French table.

The meal was great, just like the people.

Today was also Michel's birthday.  We were invited for a piece of cake and coffee.

It was a busy day.

Black Friday November 24, 2017

Yes it was Black Friday and yes, we got up early to get an electric juice maker for only $5.  We were at H-E-B at 07:30 am.

We also stopped by Walmart for a 32 GB micro SD card for $7.00.
The rest of the day was spent biking, reading and time at the pool.

Saturday November 25, 2017

A nice day at the RV Park.

Sunday November 26, 2017

I went for a bike to the next town, Alamo.  A ride of about 8 km return.
This is road 83 "Bus" which pass in front of our RV Park.

It was also the Gray Cup Day between Toronto and Calgary.
Michele loves watching this football game.

Me?  I cooked the chicken wings and popcorn chicken for Michele.  I watched the game too, outside while cooking.

What a week!

Monday November 27, 2015

We were on our way to Harlingen to look at few RV Park for the month of January.
So, while we were on the interstate towards Harlingen, I noticed our AC in the car no longer worked.  It was 29°C outside.
I selected the option to look at the actual temperature of the engine when the overheat light came on.
Darn!  We took the next exit (200 meters away) to get off the interstate.  The first thing we saw was a Nissan dealership.  Further down the road, more dealership.  In less than 1 kilometer we were at a Chevrolet dealership.
We talked to the service manager and he told us they would be able to look at the car in about one hour.  45 minutes later he came back and told us a coolant line had been rubbing for a while and it finally punctured, releasing the coolant.  The service manager told us the replacement line could be here this afternoon if we chose to get it fixed here.  Of course we wanted fixed.  So we waited.
They drove us to the mall close by, we spent a few hours there.  We got back to the dealership by 3 pm to find our car fixed.
It only cost us $194.00 US, not bad at all.  After we got the car back, we went back home without looking at any RV Park.

This is the line that was changed.  The line is part rubber and part metal.

Both end of the line are made of rubber with the center made out of metal.

We had a nice sunset.

It was bingo night tonight.  We were lucky tonight, we won $22.00.  Not bad since we paid $4.50 for our cards!

Our pool and spa at night.

What a day!

Tuesday November 28, 2017

This was our second try to visit RV Parks in Harlingen and this time we made it.
Love this sticker.

We visited 3 or 4 RV Parks this morning.  We had lunch at Wattaburger and talked about which RV Park we like the best.

We picked the RV Park Tropic Winds.  This RV Park is part of the Encore Group.

They have an introductory price for people who stray in the park for the first time at $299.00 (US) for the first month.
We are pretty happy with our choice.

Now the bad news.  Michele started to have a sore back and it got worse as the day went by.  By the time we got home, she was in pain.
She took some medication and went to bed for the rest of the day.

Wednesday November 29, 2017

Today was the day I went back to Mexico to get my good crown put in.
Michele was not with me because of her back pain.
My dentist is at the big purple tooth.

We skyped with Jeremy again today.
This is his ankle. He now has another cast on his lower leg.
Slowly, surely he is getting better and better.

Michele was moving a little more today and the pain has lessen some.

Thursday November 30, 2017

This restaurant was recommended by some campers from our park.
They make very good breakfast and not too expensive either.

On my way back from breakfast, I stooped for gas and on the next stop I purchased some coax connectors for our TV.

At home, I did fix the coax problem and now we have great TV reception.  I also found one knife we taught we lost during the summer.  It was in the back of a cabinet, hidden from view!
After all this work, I went to the pool, but Michele stayed at home.  Her back is getting better, but she still was being careful.

Until next time.

Life is good...
