Tuesday May 16, 2017

Surprise!  Pearl and Andy dropped by for a short visit.
It is always nice to see them.

No wind and warm weather, a good day.

Michele is getting used to her orthodontics.

Wednesday, Thursday May 17 and 18, 2017

Time is going by slowly, in a good way.

One of the positive side-effects of all that water is the increase of wetland around the lake.  The fish have more spawning ground to do what they have to do!
They sure are going at it!!!
On the front lawn of Jan and Jannie's house!!!

Lake Ontario water level is stable at ± an inch.
The lake is currently 7 cm above the 100 year record.

Look at all that water in the RV Park.

Another nice day at +22°C.
A cold front is coming shortly.  It will bring its lot of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
We still have time to enjoy a good burger.

This evening, we had many thunderstorms, but nothing spectacular like some other place in Ontario and Quebec.

Friday May 19, 2017

That cold front is here, it is a nice and cool +12°C today.
We do not have much going on today.

Saturday May 20, 2017

The sun is shinning and Michele made a list of all the yard sales she wants to have a look at.
We are on the road at 7:30 am.

The orchards are in full bloom.

A portable baby crib from the 1950's.

After many yard sales purchases, we are back home and helping setting up the rec hall at the RV Park.

In a little over an hour, the rec hall is all set up and we are back home.

I am starting to get the "itchy hitch" syndrome.  (the need to be traveling)
I am checking the map for different roads we could take to travel to Saskatchewan.

We will be leaving early June to be in Moose Jaw just before July 1st.
We will be leaving Moose Jaw in early September to come back to Quebec to visit family.
To finally get back to Ontario in October until we head south of the border on November 1st.

Sunday May 21, 2017

The wind is coming from the south/east and it is a good thing for Weller's Bay.

This does not make the water go up, but the waves are doing a good number on the pier.

This afternoon we are invited at Jay and Dee's place in Highland Park Resort.
This the first time we come here.

I believe it is a seasonal only campground.
Between rain showers, we sit by the fire.
It seems to me we saw a photo like the one on the right on TV!

Regardless of the rain, we had a good time seeing Jay and Dee again.
Pearl and Andy were there too.
The rain forced us back in for the remainder of the evening.
Thanks Jay and Dee for the good time and good burgers.

Monday May 22, 2015

A quiet day spent at home.
We are invited for dinner at Milly and Dean's place tonight.
We had a very good meal and evening too!
A few more campers came by for a visit during the evening.
Shoot!  No photos...

Tuesday May 23, 2017

The water level is not changing much right now.  It is kind of hard to see the water on this photo, but the water is really close to  the road.  Some sites do not have the sewer running.  It is why they placed a few portable toilets around the park.

The gray water dump valve on our MH is getting harder and harder to use.

Here is the actual valve.  I had a spare one in the basement.  The new one works like a charm.

I am on a roll.
Next, is the gasoline smell we get in the bedroom when we shut off the generator.  We have tried to find where the fumes come into the bedroom.  The only place we can see is on the ceiling of the generator compartment, two hydraulic lines coming up to the bedroom floor for the actuator for the bedroom slide.  It seems the sealant around the lines is coming off.  Because we get our MH treated for corrosion every year, the compartment is pretty "oily".  I would not be able to get new sealant up there.  I decided to add sealant from the bedroom slide area.
Once I got access to the lines in the bedroom, I could see through the floor where the lines are.  Obviously this is a place the fumes could come in.  Here, I am applying sealant to plug the hole/gap around the lines.  We did run the generator a little and no fumes came in the bedroom.  We are not calling it a victory yet, we will see when we travel to Saskatchewan and use the generator extensively.

Today it was nice and warm, but bad weather is forecast for Thursday...

Wednesday May 24, 2017

While I am having breakfast, I watch a "mommy" robin feeding her little one.  Well, the little one is as big as the mommy.
The baby is constantly asking for food.  I can almost tell that if the mommy had arms and hands, she would smack him behind the head once or twice!

We are at the dentist in the afternoon.  We got a cleaning and check-up, all is good for another year.
I am going to check again at how much it would cost for the same procedures in the US and Mexico.
Maybe we could save more money!

Later in the day we skyped with our most favorite oldest son, Jeremy.
We learned that his son Gabriel will be with him a week earlier this summer.  This is very good, it is the only time we get to be with both of them.  We will re-adjust our travel time to be at Jeremy's place a week earlier too!

Just for a change, it started to rain again through the night.

Thursday May 25, 2017

Well!  It is raining and it keeps on raining!
The ground is saturated, the water has nowhere to go but up!

Some one told me we beat a rainfall record from around 1943, we have had 1 1/4 inch of rain..

So!  What do you do when it rains like that and you live in a MH?
Reading, watching TV and surf the web.

About 10 days ago, my sisters decided to come for a visit here in Ontario.  We were not supposed to see them until we got back from Saskatchewan in September.  We are very happy they are coming before we leave for SK.  They will be here from June 1 to the 3rd.

Friday May 26, 2017

A cloudy day with no wind, good.
I take my daily walk around the RV Park to check out the water level.

I think this is the highest we have had so far.

All the trailer on the right are now islands, surrounded by wetlands.

Lake Ontario is 33 inches above normal level.

It does not seem to bother some of the wildlife.

With all the water on the RV Park, some seasonal campers do not understand why they cannot bring their cars to their trailers!
The soil is saturated and you will sink your car once you leave the road.  I guess you would not know that if you lived all your life in a 14th floor apartment.  Just saying.

Saturday May 27, 2017

We spent the morning going around garage sales.
Michele spent the rest of the day reading and watching tennis on TV.
Me? I just putter around and read my book.

Sunday May 28, 2017

The sun is shining, I feel full of energy, time to do some of the chores I was supposed to do a while back.

First, I clean the vents and the vent covers.

I also clean the fans in the vents.  The desert dust is everywhere!

Now they are nice and clean.

Next, Michele is fixing/sewing a cut on one of our window screen.  The fix is that little black line you see.

Next, I decided to cut he grass on our site.  I do not really need to do it because we are not seasonal.  The owner usually does it. He has bigger worries right now with the water.
I borrowed my neighbor's lawnmower and cut our grass.
It looks so nice now.

Oups!  Just before I am done, I run out of gas!
Guess what I am doing tomorrow?

Since we are on a roll, we also clean the window screens of the MH.

With all our chores done, I go out for a walk.  I take the time to stop at Milly and Dean's place to pick-up our cooler we left Monday evening.

We are having Cordon Bleu for supper!  I am checking the internal temperature.  It needs a little more cooking so I sat down with a glass of wine to watch nature...

The sky became cloudy during the evening, rain is coming our way, again?  Like we need more rain!

Later in the evening, I sent an email to my sisters to explain the route to take to get here.  I even included pictures for directions!

We can't wait to see them again.  They should be here on Thursday, June 1st and leaving Saturday, June 3rd.  A little short, but still good.

Monday May 29, 2015

More rain!
We are on our way to Belleville for a routine medical appointment for Michele.

Yesterday afternoon, I was moving beer bottles to the fridge and I hit one and it tipped over onto the floor.
It broke into a million pieces, all the way to the bedroom...
We did a quick clean up, but today I am washing the floor properly.

When they say the soil is saturated that is what they mean!

I took a walk to check out the water level...

Nothing changes.

Tuesday May 30, 2017

A quiet day at home.

The sun is out in full force, but no changes on the water level.

My two sisters, Christianne and Estelle, are coming for a visit tomorrow, for three days.

Wednesday May 31, 2017

After a good breakfast, I am out checking the water level again and still no change.

My two sisters are on the road and should get here after lunch.
While I am waiting, I am fixing the wiring between the MH and the car.  A few weeks ago, the light on the car started to act up.  This is one of the plugs that has to be replaced.  They are over 7 years old after all!

I am working like a pro.

I have replaced the plug on the car.

I replaced the wiring between the plug for the RV, left, all the way to and including a new plug on the right.

I cannot check the car lights with the new wiring because I cannot get to the back of the MH with the car, the ground is too soft.
Second best, Use the 12 volts of the car to test the wiring and the lights.
The plug that would go on the MH is "a".
I use a piece of wiring and connected the ground between "e" and "c".
Next, I need 12 volts. I connected from the batteries "d" to the plug "b".
To check the next light, I only had to move the wire "b" to the next connector to the left of it and so on.

Yep!  The light is working in the back, all is good now.

I am trilled that my sisters are coming and I am a little impatient.
I cannot wait to see them again!

They finally arrived!

We are lucky, the sun is shinning and it is warm.  We sat outside for a good part of the afternoon.
Boy did we talked!

We stayed up until midnight talking and drinking wine, life is good!

Until next time.

Life is good...
