Friday June 16, 2017

A dull day ahead.  The weatherman is calling for rain and winds again for today.
I saw that Richer has a small museum.
I am going to visit it.  Michele decided to stay home.

At the museum I found all the doors locked!

Might as well go and check the cemetery for any Matte buried there!
Nope!  No Matte in here!
However, Gilles sure loved his backhoe.

When I got back to the car, I noticed another car in the parking lot.  I tried once more the doors and found one open.

I meet Yvonne, the president of the museum.
Yvonne speaks French.  She gave me a detailed tour of the museum with some cute storied about the church/museum.
Like many of those small museum, the lack of money slows down the completion of the museum.
Once it will be finished, it will relate the stories of the people who lived in Richer and also about the "Dawson Trail" that came through Richer.

One of the stories is about the words painted above the altar.
They were painted over about 40 years ago.  About 5 years ago, they started to come through the paint.
A miracle?

I really enjoyed my visit in the museum.  Good luck to Yvonne and all involved in this museum.

Saturday june 17, 2017

We left Rock Garden Campground under a light rain.
The road is still in bad shape, sometimes more so.

We drove by the Center of Canada!

In Winnipeg, we stopped at the Walmart for some groceries shopping.

A kilometer later we stop again, but this time for fuel for the MH.
A surprise!  Gasoline is only $0.889 per liters and with our Flying J card, we only pay $0.869 per liters, super!

We also top up our propane, we were on the last liter of propane I think.
We pay $0.759 per liters.

Another surprise!
Who do we see?
Richard and Denise.
We met them in March 17-18 2017 in Victoria, Texas.
They are on their way to Vancouver.

It was a pleasure to meet them like that.

After that, we are back on the road.  Nice weather to travel, cloudy sky, no hills and no wind.
Our fuel consumption between Thunder Bay, Ontario and Winnipeg, Manitoba (765 km) was 31L/100km or 9 miles per gallons.
The road after Thunder Bay was very mountainous until we entered Manitoba.

Eventualy we made it to Robbyn's place.  She is at work, but a few friends are here including her son, Kadin.
I am talking to Loyd and his son J.R.

Robbyn made it home by 5h 30.

We sat down and talked until past midnight.

Robbyn has 3 cats and they each had 4 or 5 kittens each...

The only downside was the rain we had on and off all evening long.

Sunday June 18, 2017

Another yucky day as far as weather goes.
Robbyn still has to work today, but tomorrow and Tuesday she will be off.

Pictures just so you remember where we are.

I am cooking some "MatteMuffins" for Kadin.

Robbyn and her friend, Loyd and J.R.  They are long time friends of Robbyn
Now Robbyn is off for two days and her friends decided to have a fish fry tonight.  We are having some pickerel, perch, shrimps and fries.

What a feast we had!

This kitten is trying to use the bike?

Robbyn fooling around with her son, Kadin.

We spent the rest of the evening around the campfire telling stories, laughing and all this with strong beverage.

Monday June 19, 2015

A few days back, we drove through a construction zone and the wheels of the MH got really dirty.
Robbyn has a pressure washer and I am using it to clean the wheels of the MH.  J.R. gave me some stuff to clean the wheels quickly and easily.  I spray the wheels.

I pressure wash the wheels and most, if not all the mud is off the wheels.

Why not pressure wash the car too!

The propane tank too got cleaned.

After so much work, it is time to relax and watch someone else cook supper.
Robbyn and Michele are playing "picture me picture you"!

Of course, we got a little rain too, but just for a few minutes.
The reward is a nice rainbow.

A good day and evening with Robbyn and her friends.

Tuesday June 20, 2017

Robbyn and her brother and sister are not using the land, so they rent it to other farmers.
Close to the house, some of the tenants.

Robbyn has a few errand to do in the little town close by.

We had to stop on the tracks to take a picture of a snake.

Next, we went to visit the "camp" in the bush.  I forgot to take any photos!

When we got back home, I could not resist and I took a power nap.
This is what you have to do when the couch is too short!

Her three cats had their litter a week apart.  It is funny to watch them as they get more confident.

Another good meal and even a fireworks from Robbyn.

Tomorrow we are leaving Robbyn.  We say our goodbyes to Loyd and J.R.  They will be gone by the time we get up in the morning.

Wednesday June 21, 2017

Departure time!
We go in the house to say our goodbyes to Robbyn.  She is not awake yet.  We leave a little note on the table.
Thank you Robbyn for your hospitality.  Say "Hi" to Loyd and J.R. from us.

Four kilometers after we left the farm, we are back on the Trans-Canada Highway going west.

Shortly after we drove by Brandon, the rain hit us hard, but not for long.

We were supposed to dump our black and gray water in Brandon, but I must have been asleep at the wheel because I forgot!
At Elkhorn, we saw a sign that said they have a dump station.

They even have a small, but well maintained campground.
We dumped for $10, not bad at all.

This is the first time we see a polar bear as a lawn ornament!

One hour and half after we left Robbyn's place, we cross into Saskatchewan.

The sky clears, but the wind turns and we now have it in our face.
The wind is blowing between 30 and 50 km/h with wind gusts of 65 km/h.
Not easy to drive a MH in those conditions.

Another first, a burnt-out tractor next to a field.

Moose Jaw, here we come.  What a view!  The town dump behind the welcome sign!

We are settled in when Jeremy comes back from work.

We spend the rest of the day talking.
We made it to our destination after driving more that 2,900 km.

Thursday and Friday June 22 and 23, 2017

Thursday morning, Jeremy is back to work and we continue to get settled in.
Thursday evening, we met Jeremy's girlfriend, Kristin.  Shoot!  No photo.

Friday, after work, Jeremy is putting up his tent to make sure everything is OK with it.
Next Thursday we are going camping at Wakamow for Canada Day.  Jeremy, Kristin and Gabriel will be with us.

Kristin is back after work.  She works in Regina where she is a "Respiratory Therapist".
Tomorrow morning, Jeremy and Kristin will be going to Medicine Hat to pick up Gabriel.

We had very strong wind Thursday and Friday.  To top it all off, it was only +18°C both days.

Saturday June 24, 2017

Michele and I are grocery shopping this morning.  I also bought oil filters for the MH, the car and the generator.
The first oil change is on the car.

I did not change the oil on the MH because where the plug to drain the oil is located, it would make a mess on the driveway pavement.
I guess I will be doing it at Patrice and Manon's place.  I did not do the one for the generator either because the oil filter will be here only on Tuesday.

Gabriel made us laugh a lot!

And a new lego!

We are very happy to be with Jeremy and Gabriel.

Sunday June 25, 2017

I am checking the water level in our house batteries.
All of them are a little low, but it is normal.

Our loved one!

Time for a bike ride.

I finally washed the MH.  It really needed it.

Gabriel is back from his bike ride.

We bought a portable soccer net for Gabriel.
He is very good with the soccer ball.

Spider woman attacking the villain!

After a very busy day and a good bath, life is good.

A little TV before bedtime for Gabriel...

A good day.

Note:   For the next two months you will see mostly photos of our son Jeremy and grandson Gabriel.  There will be a great deal of photos with Gabriel.

Monday June 26, 2015

Jeremy is back to work this morning.
I take this time to clean his garage.
Right now it looks nice only because all the stuff is outside.

While I am cleaning up the garage, Gabriel plays with his toys.

Gabriel loves to play baseball.  He is pretty good.  Michele has to be careful when he hits the ball.

It is warm outside.  We placed the pool and filled it with warm water.  They are having so much fun!

Even with the warm water, Gabriel does get a little cold after a while.
Nothing like a good cookie to warm up!

I think Michele is burning him out with playing!
He closed his eyes for a few seconds too long...

"Who!  Me sleeping?  I am too big for that!".

Gabriel is one happy little boy.

It is my turn to get in the pool...

It is so nice to have warm water in the pool.  Who cares about the bill for hot water?

Candies that turns your tongue green!

Gabriel fell asleep really fast tonight.

Tuesday June 27, 2017

I carry on with the cleaning of the garage.  I put the tools in the right box...

I also take the time to fix a flat tire on Kristin's bike.

Gabriel is now five years old.  He can play by himself.  We no longer have to entertain him all the time.

Gabriel is giving me a hand to fill the bird feeder.

For the video, click here.

I have to throw an old bike in the dumpster.  Gabriel and Michele are coming with me.

With the old bike gone, we continue our walk/bike ride on the bike path.

After so much work, a good snack is welcome.

Michele makes Gabriel try some of the snowsuit Jeremy has.

Gabriel is a good boy.

However, some times he can be a little crazy.

Jeremy has a Mario Cart game and this is the first time Gabriel plays, I think.
Gabriel is like a possessed man when he plays.  Too funny!

For the video, click here.

What had to happen, happened.  Gabriel knocked over Jeremy's beer on the carpet...

A good day.

Wednesday June 28, 2017

A new day...
Gabriel playing.

Me?  I fix the Brake Buddy, it developed a leak inside.
It turned out to be a stuck valve.

That is one busy little man.

We have seen it before, but we still think it is cool.

I put up one of Jeremy's tent to make sure no holes have appeared over the past winter (mice).

WOW!

Gabriel playing baseball.
For the video, click here.

Gabriel and I building a lego food cart.

The reward after good work.

We had some rain by the end of the afternoon.

Gabriel is very tired.

We had a busy day today.

Thursday June 29, 2017

Today we are going camping in Wakamow.  It is in Moose Jaw.
I am watching the cartoons with Gabriel this morning.

I am the first to leave.  I have to empty the used water tank before I get to our site.

At the campsite, I am joined by Michele and Gabriel.
Gabriel is showing me his Ninja moves.

Gabriel and I showing off our dance moves...

Gabriel with the bear sculpture.

It is only +17°C today and a hot chocolate is very good.

Jeremy arrived a little later.  Gabriel is getting the posts ready and I help Jeremy setting up the tent.

And off to a bike ride!

There is nothing like a smoky campfire!

This is our site and yes, it is small.

Gabriel is sleeping in the tent with Jeremy and Kristin.

Friday June 30, 2017

Big breakfast this morning.

Gabriel loves my breakfast!

Jeremy has to go to town to change his phone plan.  He is going with Kristin.  Jeremy being the nice guy he is, told Gabriel he would go fishing for minnows with Grand-papa!  Michele too has some shopping to do!

So, here we are at the dock looking for minnows.  Gabriel is well equipped.

A snake!  Gabriel really wants to catch it!
He runs after it......

He got it!

And he keeps on fishing.

After lunch, Jeremy offered me his "old" phone and to get me on a family plan to save us some money.  It will not cost him more.
We will be saving lots of money with only one phone for Canada and the US.  It will also be our internet in Canada and the US.
I am off to the store with Jeremy and Kristin for the new family plan.
Michele has to go back fishing with Gabriel...

Like any kid, he did manage to get water in his rubber boots!

It was a good day fishing for Gabriel

One proud fisherman!

Is he sick?

Gabriel managed to fall down with his fish and got his dad all wet with fishy water.  Jeremy was not impressed.
The fish are OK!

An evening by the fire.

It was a nice day today (+22°C).

Until next time.

Life is good...
