Saturday December 16, 2017

Another miserable day with a high of 10°C.
As the sun was setting behind the clouds, the exterior light changed to a light orange colour.
It was kind of weird.

Sunday December 17, 2017

Another blah day.
We decided to go to the movies.

We chose Coco.
We really enjoyed the movie.  We recommend it to everyone.

On our way home, we stopped at the Walmart and we found this funny name for a wine, Woop Woop.

We had a nice Chinese fondue supper.

We hope the weather will warm up some over the next few days.
This is actually normal weather for the Rio Grand Valley.  The cold weather is between mid December to mid January.

Monday December 18, 2015

Every Monday morning, a group of campers from our park goes to Don Pope's for breakfast.  I went, but Michele did not come.

By late afternoon, the fog and light rain started for the next few hours.

Tonight, we had a play done by a local troupe. It was the story of Scrooge with a Mexican flavor.
They had this Santa for photo, it was kind of funny, he would not let go of us after the picture was taken!

The play was OK.

Tuesday December 19, 2017

Another easy day.

They had a choir from a local school this afternoon, but we chose to take a dip in the pool instead.

There was a monster in the pool!

It was a good day.

Wednesday December 20, 2017

We had another choir come to the park this morning, they even had an orchestra.

They were very good, for the video, click here.

It was a nice and warm day, we decided to visit the National Butterfly Center.

We saw many of those pieces of wood cut and full of insects. I imagine they are there to attract the insects, which attract the birds and probably the butterfly too.

My pretty Michele on the trail to the feeding area for the birds.

You want insects? Now you have them.

Very interesting and informative information about the birds living in the area.

A Green Jay.

A Northern Cardinal.

I did not know about that!

Michele with the butterfly conservatory behind her.  The walls open up to let the butterfly move freely in and out of the conservatory.

Some butterfly.

And they have Spike!

That was one big turtle.

An alligator?

Me, the butterfly and Michele, the caterpillar.

The National Butterfly Center was OK.  It is a good place for birding.

Next we stop at the State Farm Arena to buy tickets for the basketball game tomorrow evening.
You cannot go wrong at $5.00 per tickets.

This must be a rich neighborhood!

When we got home, we notice the Tiki Hut was in full swing.

It was the same guy singing, he is a resident of the park.  It is supposed to be Karaoke type of activity, but most of the folks are on the older side and don't sing much.

Well, there is the pastor who sings a few songs.

I offered to rewrite the instruction for the bingo program for the Activity Director, just to make them simpler.
Tonight is the night where she uses them for the first time.
It works fine until another problem came up.  I found a quick solution and we could continue playing bingo.
We had a good night, we won $8 and we only spent $3 for our cards.

A busy day.

Thursday December 21, 2017

While I was biking in the park this morning, I noticed that some of the oranges, citrus and grapefruits were ripe.
I went back a picked a few.

It was a nice 26°C today.  Michele placed her chair in the wind so she did not get too warm.

Me, I went to buy some stamps for some postal cards.
On my way back home, I stooped at a car wash place in town to check how much it would cost to shampoo the interior, wash and wax the car.  I also checked the place close to our RV Park.  In town it was $130 and close to our RV Park it is only $100.  Tomorrow maybe!

A nice sunset, but I will have to find another place to take the photo so we do not have the transformer in the photo!

Here we are at the State Farm Arena for the basketball game.

The players are warming up.  Not a bad view for $5.

The Vipers are in white.  So far, they had a good season.

Us!

Between each quarter, we have some local dance group come and do a little show.

The Viper.

With 9 seconds to go, the score is 136 for the Vipers and 129 for the Texas Legends.

And the game was over, the Vipers won and because they won, we get a coupon for a free Burrito from Taco Petanque.

We really enjoyed the basketball game and the price is so cheap too.

Friday December 22, 2017

I dropped off the car at Buggy Wash at 9 am.

It was a very hot day today (31°C).

Here in the Rio Grande Valley, the propane company can refill your MH propane tank on site.  It is so nice, you don't have to pack and drive for a propane fill up.  I paid $0.85 per liters, not bad.

I went back at 3:30 pm to pick up the car.  They have done a very good job, the car is like new, almost!

During the evening I started to cough, not looking good for me!

Saturday December 23, 2017

Michele did not have a very good night of sleep, I keep her up with my coughing all night long.  I don't feel 100% right now.

Having said that, we still went to one of the local flea market to check it out.

After we got back home, I had a nice nap.

We did not do much for the rest of the day.

Sunday December 24, 2017

Michele's sleep and mine were a little better, I still cough some and my throat hurts.  I take syrup by the gallons.  Well, not really by the gallons.

Some reading and maybe a nap?

This is a very quiet Christmas Eve, not much happening in the Park.

Monday December 25, 2015

We had Christmas Dinner at the Park today.  As usual, the Park supplied the turkey and ham and the RVers supplied the rest.
Our feast!

Pretty well the whole park is here.

The meal was very good and we went back home full.

I am still not feeling 100% good and a nap was required after such a good meal.

We skyped with Gabriel today.  He is still with his mom, Danielle, in Alberta.  He will be with Jeremy in a few days for about a week.

What do you do on Christmas Day when the weather is not nice?
You head for the pool!

We take this time to wish you a very Merry Christmas.
Take a minute to think about all those persons working today to keep us safe and healthy.

Thursday December 26, 2017

The cold front is here now with some winds and cloudy skies.  I shared my cold with Michele.  She is not feeling very good as I am feeling a little better.
A day spent indoor.

Wednesday December 27, 2017

The weather is supposed to stay the same for the week.
Not much going on today other that trying to beat our colds.
We did go to Walmart  for a few things and we could not wait to get back home.
We did not even go to Bingo tonight, imagine that?

Thursday December 28, 2017

We feel a little better when we woke up this morning.
It is cold and rainy outside, so we stay inside.

Friday December 29, 2017

Michele is not feeling any better after all.
She stays in bed late while I go for the park's breakfast.

Breakfast was OK.

About the weather?
Nothing changes, rain, wind and cold.

I had to go out in the afternoon to buy more cough medicine for both of us.
Michele is really not feeling good, she ask me to buy her a donut.
We are becoming couch potatoes with this cold and bad weather!!!

Saturday December 30, 2017

It was supposed to go up to 22°C today, but by 11 am it was only 13°C.
It did make it up to 17°C after all.
Time to do laundry and walk a little around the RV Park.

We still cough and feel a little weak...

Sunday December 31, 2017

When we woke up, we did not feel any better
We will not be going to the New Years Party tonight.
We spent the day in PJ's watching TV.

An even colder front is coming this afternoon and the temperature will drop to 2°C for the night.

Happy New Year everyone!

Until next year.

Life is good...
