As usual, in the middle of August, the nights are much cooler with the
days still warm.
Gabriel is a little cold this morning.
The temperature warms up quickly and I prepare the pool for this
afternoon.
Gabriel is a busy boy. He plays and chases bugs and butterflies.
A good grilled ham and cheese sandwich.
It is Grand-maman's turn to be in the pool with Gabriel.
Gabriel loves bugs and butterflies.
Grand-maman is watching tennis on TV and Gabriel is playing in the MH.
Jeremy is in Regina tonight and will be coming back tomorrow
morning. Gabriel is having a sleep over in the MH.
Thursday August 17, 2017
Gabriel is posing in front of the mirror.
Gabriel is playing and I prepare the dishwasher for recycling.
Time for another bike ride with Gabriel. It is fun to bike with
Gabriel
Today it is my turn to be in the pool.
This is the new (used) bike rack we bought on Kijiji. For $50, it
is very nice. We are not sure if it was even used once.
I am on a roll. I change and make a better support for the
repeater unit's antenna mounted on the back ladder.
Jeremy is giving another coat to the benches. He also washes the
wheels of his new canoe carrier.
Chicken for super, hummmm!
Friday August 18, 2017
Jeremy dropped by this morning and Gabriel is very happy to see him.
A break between playing with stuff.
Happy people.
Gabriel asked Grand-maman to throw him out of the pool. She does!
And he jumps back in quickly...
Michele is not much of a meat eater. So, when Jeremy and I have a
Chateaubriand, Michele and Gabriel are having something different.
Saturday August 19, 2017
Shoot! No photos today.
Gabriel and Jeremy leave for Regina this afternoon. They have a
BBQ with Kristin at some friends. They have a pool. They
will be back tomorrow afternoon.
Michel and I do some yard sales this morning. We also do some
groceries shopping.
Back home, I cut the grass, Michele does some house work, I paint the
benches one last time. I finished the last update for the blog
and upload it. The house is so quiet when Gabriel is not here!
Sunday August 20, 2017
A quiet morning. I woke up at 8:30 h. I just have time to
make coffee and we lost power!
We are without power for about 30 minutes.
Michele plays with her tablet this morning. The weather is
overcast and cool.
I decided to do some maintenance on the MH.
First I fill the fresh water tank.
Next is the annual check on all water pipe connections.
I start with the kitchen sinks. I make sure all the connections a
tight (red arrows). Why do I do this?
When we are driving down the road, the MH shakes a lot and things tend
to get loose after a while. I would rather do some preventive
work then costly repairs.
The bathroom sink.
The shower is a little more awkward.
Jeremy and Gabriel get home after lunch.
Gabriel has a Lego to build. They had a lot of fun at the BBQ in
Regina. Gabriel spent 5 hours in the pool...
You can see in his face how tired he is.
Michele bought a log building set in a yard sale. Gabriel loves
it.
I am helping to fold the tent.
Gabriel spent most of the day indoor. He is still pretty tired
from his time in the pool.
One of Jeremy's project is to be able to store the canoe up in the
garage for the winter.
Jeremy looks all tangled up in rope, but actually he is coiling it up
the right way.
Gabriel playing with his army men.
Gabriel and Grand-maman made a chocolate cake and it is very good.
Gabriel in his new pajama.
This is what the garage looks like at the end of the day.
We had no plans for today, but ended up doing a lot.
Monday August 21, 2015
Grand-maman having a special moment with her grandson.
Jeremy was home for lunch. He made Gabriel laugh.
Grand-maman found this box in one of the closet. We spend most of
the afternoon building stuff.
Sometime Gabriel does not remember how to smile???
It is Grand-maman's turn to do some assembly.
We finally got a real smile from him.
After a good meal, a very good dessert. Ice-cream between two
pieces of chocolate cake.
Gabriel is having a sleep-over in the MH.
He loves watching cartoons in the bedroom.
I made some popcorn for Michele and Gabriel. It smelled so good
that I made some for me too. Surprise! The microwave broke
before I finished cooking my popcorn! Jeremy told me he would add
this microwave to the final bill before we leave! LOL.
I think we will have to leave in the middle of the night.
Tuesday August 22, 2017
Gabriel and I had breakfast at MacDonald this morning. Our next stop
was at Walmart to buy a new Microwave for Jeremy.
Gabriel loves listening to documentaries and so do I.
A good dessert!
I called the RV Dealer in MJ about our awning. As usual, they
told me they were just about to call me! Yea right! The new
awning should be here before September 8th. On the good news
side, they have received the other two parts they ordered.
The gas cylinder for the door.
And the cover for the AC vent.
I made a new extension cord with the electric cord from the dishwasher.
It is +27°C today and it is time to play outside.
Two photos Gabriel took with our camera.
Jeremy joins us when he is done work.
Michele was taking off some spider web when this big spider fell to the
ground. Jeremy, Michele and Gabriel screamed like little
girls. I had to put the spider in the observation bucket.
The white part of the spider is the bag where the silk is made.
We have seen a documentary of this spider a few days back.
Watching a little TV before bedtime.
Wednesday August 23, 2017
With the little bit of rain we had over the last few days, the bugs are
coming out. We try to stay off the grass.
I use that time to cook some more of the breakfast sausages.
What a snack!
Jeremy is a witness in a case of a military member of the
squadron. This is why he is dressed pretty.
Gabriel is having a Mac & cheese sandwich!!!
When we were at the store, Gabriel sat in this very big chair!
Back home, Grand-maman reads a preschool book to Gabriel.
Kristin is not working today and tomorrow. They are cooking some
shish kebab for supper.
Kristin took a family picture for us.
Michele cooked a "pouding aux chomeurs". It is a French-Canadian
dessert. Kristin loves it.
On their ways to the Canex store.
Gabriel got an ice-cream cone.
It was a good day and it is good to see Kristin again.
This center is free, but donations are accepted. We chose the
guided tour. Our guide was a young lady and she was good.
She made it interesting. We sure learned a lot about the
burrowing owl.
Burrowing owl are loner birds. A few of them are used for
presentation in schools while other are maintained as wild.
Some of the owl.
We learn that MJ is the capital of burrowing owls. Before the
years 2000, they had over 30 couples of burrowing owls living in the MJ
area.
Now?
Not even one couple lives here! This is due to the fragmentation
of its territory.
This owl is not a burrowing owl, but I forgot what kind he is. He
is here because of a broken wing.
More information on the burrowing owl in this building.
These owls are very good hunter.
We can see a sample of the type of nest they use. Burrowing Owls
do not dig a nest, they use abandoned tunnels from gofers or badgers.
Gabriel really enjoyed his visit.
Back to play!
Gabriel loves candy!
Now, that is serious TV watching.
We have to say goodbye to Kristin after supper, she has to work
tomorrow. Gabriel has Grand-maman's shoes on.
Gabriel has his last sleep-over in the MH.
Friday August 25, 2017
Our last full day with Gabriel
Playing with dinosaurs.
Building some houses.
And one last movie before bedtime.
Gabriel will be sleeping in Dad's bed tonight.
A special night! He has a crown made of Glow Stick.
With Gabriel in bed, we pack the last Gabriel's luggage.
Saturday August 26, 2017
Gabriel is all excited about seeing his mom after 2 months with Dad.
What a face.
We hit the road by 9 am for Medicine Hat and meet with Danielle.
4 hours to get there and 4 hours to get back to MJ.
Sunday August 27, 2017
It is weird to have breakfast without Gabriel talking all the time!
Jeremy has a ball tournament today.
We take the MH to the dump station, our used water tanks are super full.
The office does not open until noon. I dumped before 10 am, I
guess it is free for us!
In less than an hour we have dumped out tanks and are back at Jeremy's
place.
We do a little more shopping in the afternoon.
Another heat wave is here. It is +31°C
in the shade and it will be like that for the rest of the week!
Monday August 28, 2015
We almost beat a temperature record for MJ. We only missed it by 0.4°C.
Let me tell you, we love the new AC in Jeremy's house.
Jeremy received some parts for his quadcopter. He really has a lot of fun with his quadcopter.
Jeremy and Michele preparing some scallop potatoes...
And the left-overs.
With the hot weather, we did not do much today.
Tuesday August 29, 2017
Last year we bought a new mattress from Sears. It did not hold up
and the center is sagging a lot. I called Sears for the warranty
not expecting much, but surprise! They have no problems changing
it. This afternoon, we are at Sears Home store in Regina to shop
for a replacement mattress. We may even upgrade.
We had absolutely no problems with Sears. We upgraded our
mattress and only have to pay the difference. The new mattress
should be here on September 7th. We will pick it up when we drive
back east.
We are spoiled today, Jeremy has invited us to a Sushi restaurant in
Regina. Michele and I are not too crazy about sushi, but with
Jeremy and Kristin, they will guide us in our choices.
I really liked the sushi we had. I even tried some kind of fish. Michele is not sushi at all.
Thank you very much for this nice dîner. Now I know more about what I like and dislike in sushi.
A nice sunset over Regina.
A good day.
Wednesday August 30, 2017
Another quiet day at home.
We are having this pork roast tonight and we will cook it in the crock-pot. First, we broil it for 15 minutes in the oven.
This will seal most of the moisture in the meat.
The light above the kitchen sink is no longer working. I did some
research on the web for a replacement and to my surprise, a new one
cost over $50.00. What is up with that? It is just a 12
volts LED light... Until I find a replacement for less money, I
moved another light we are not using and placing it over the sink.
And by the way, our supper was very good.
Thursday August 31, 2017
A windy and rainy morning.
A branch broke off a tree in the backyard.
The sunshine is back for the afternoon.
When Jeremy got back from work, he decided to re-install the seats in his canoe.
What a funny name!
That makes more senses!
The canoe without the seats.
Adding the metal brackets to the seat.
Ready for the installation.
In a short time, both seats are installed. Next, Jeremy is grinding the ends of the screws for safety.
