Thursday June 16, 2016

A day at home.
While Manon, Catherine and Benoit are busy placing the steps in the pool...

I was washing the MH with Michele.

We had nothing planned, but were busy all day!

Friday June 17, 2016

This is our last day geocaching with Manon and Patrice.
Benoit was supposed to come with us, but he is not feeling too good and decided not to come.

Checking out the information on the cache.  We search and found the cache at the end of this fake wire!

I was lucky on this one.  It was under a piece of bark.

What a cute little car!

A good lunch in a park.

Another good day geocaching with 24 caches found.

It is hot and once at home, I dip in the pool with our favorite youngest son!

So many good days!

Saturday June 18, 2106

Benoit sleeping in.

We had another busy day.
Some have installed tubes in the tractor tires...

Other cleaned up the MH basement...

Other were just having fun...

The two official photos

One happy player...

We finished the day playing games in the basement...

Some are serious while others were playing...

A great day with the people we love...
Simply happiness.

Sunday June 19, 2016

This is the last day to get things done before we leave tomorrow morning.
I need a piece of metal to make a license plate holder for the MH.

Telling lies!

Mario came for a few hours to visit.

The traditional tequila shooter with Benoit!

Benoit and Marion had to leave early, see you next year.

Geocaching, boating, moving appliances and so much fun, a great week!

Monday June 20, 2016

We are about to hit the road!
Goodbye Manon and Patrice.  We wished it could have been longer, but we want to get to Saskatchewan soon and see our son, Jeremy and grandson, Gabriel.
Some photos on us!

As usual...

We leave Manon and Patrice by 8 o'clock.  First stop is in town to dump our gray and black water tanks.  Second stop is just before we get on highway 40 in Berthierville and it is at the Flying J for gasoline.

The road is OK until Mont Laurier.

However from Mont Laurier to Val d'Or, it is hell!
About 10 km from Val d'Or we have some heavy rain.

We are at the campground just after 5 pm and the office is closed.
I guess we have free site without electricity.
Our neighbor at the campground, who are from Sorel and just drove the same road as us, think the road really suck big time...

We have covered 580 km today.
Generally we do not travel this far in a day, but this time, we want to get to Saskatchewan ASAP to see our oldest son, Jeremy, and grandson, Gabriel.

Tuesday June 21, 2016

We are back on the road by 7 am.
A few hours later, we enter Ontario.

Isn't it weird to live in the modern world and still live like the "old" days!
I wonder if they need seatbelt in their buggy?

We expected lots of road construction in Quebec, but we saw none on our travel and it shows.
In Ontario, we only saw a few areas under construction.

The road between Moonbeam and where we entered Ontario was just as bad as the one in Quebec.

After 450 km of driving, we made it to Moonbeam and the Twin Lakes campground.

We hope the roads are going to get better from here on...

Wednesday June 22, 2016

Our site at Twin Lakes.  Here everyone speaks French.

Michele is ready to get on the road.

Between Moonbeam and Nipigon, we crossed into the next watershed.

Going through Hearst...

We can see some of the places where the forest fire of last month stopped all traffic for a few days.

Our first real slow down and it is for pick-up truck in the ditch.

Our first real construction zone.

I like the sound of this warning sign...

We got into Longlac by 2 pm.  We are supposed to spend the night at Pearl and Andre's place.

They were not home.  We know they were in Thunder Bay for some appointments yesterday.  We could not call them as our cell phone does not work here (Virgin).  We decided to leave at around 3:30 pm.

About 45 minutes later we met Pearl and Andre on the road.
We chatted for a little while on the side of the road, but decided to continue our trip west.
Maybe next time!

Such pretty scenery...

Here is the new bridge in Nipigon.  All traffic going east or west must use this bridge.  Last winter, one of the bold let go in one corner.  It lifted the corner about 4 inches (10 cm) and blocked all traffic for days.

520 km later, we arrived at the Petro-Canada truck stop in Nipigon.

We had a nice sunset.

The road between Longlac and Nipigon was much nicer even with the short rough stretch.

Thursday June 23, 2016

It was not a very restful night at the truck stop.
We are back on the road by 7 am.

What a place to take your little babies!  Right on the side of the highway!

Getting into another watershed, this time all water will flow to the Arctic ocean.

We still have to travel 400 km before we get out of Ontario.

This was our longest delay for construction, 10 minutes!

The road is so much better here!

Beautiful area, notice the bugs on the windshield!

I took two naps today.  They were only 15 minutes long, but I needed them.

Welcome to Manitoba!

We are slowly getting off the Canadian Shield and entering the Canadian Prairies.

I am not unhappy to leave the twist and turns, ups and downs of the road from Northern Ontario behind!

We are spending the night at the Town & Country campground in Winnipeg.

This was our longest driving day so far, 785 km, with two naps!

Friday June 24, 2016

Shortly after we left the campground, we stopped at the Flying J for gasoline.
I am coming back from paying  for gasoline!

It is nice to be appreciated!

A quick stop in Brandon, Manitoba for a coffee and a breakfast wrap.

Finally, Saskatchewan!

A little construction and a warning about your windshield.

And I was complaining about the twist and turns of the roads in Ontario!  Now it is so flat and straight!

We got to Jeremy's place by 3:15 pm.  While I am setting up the MH, Michele and Jeremy are gone picking up Gabriel.
One happy little boy!

Water gun fight!

Jeremy cooking us a good meal.

After supper, we all go for a walk.  Gabriel is observing the ants.

We are also looking for gophers!

It is good to be moving a little!

A little snack before bedtime!

It was another long day behind the wheel.  We covered 675 km today with a total of 3000 km.
We have spent $1110 for gasoline.  Our average is 37L/100 km or 7.5 miles per gallons!

We are very happy to finally be here!

Saturday June 25, 2016

Michele brought Gabriel to the MH to show him all the toys she bought for him.

Gabriel is always happy to see a train go by.

A treat before lunch and marshmallow for dessert!

Michele is explaining the game to Gabriel.  He has to find where Michele is hiding.  He goes too fast to notice her!

Father and son's love!

It is a special night for Gabriel.  He is watching cartoons in our bed, in the MH with Grand-Maman.

As for myself?  I am sleeping on the couch!  OK, it is a sofa bed!

Sunday June 26, 2016

Gabriel early in the morning!

They only have been awake for a few minutes...

Playing at "la bibitte qui monte" or in English, "itsy-Bitsy-Spider".

Gabriel is ready to go to a birthday party...

The birthday party is taking place at the "Free to be Me" sanctuary for animals.  The kids loved it!

All the kids that were at the birthday party.

Animals, gifts, cake, Gabriel loved all of it!

Gabriel knows it is not real, but still, he is not sure if he likes it or not.

What a busy week, first we left Manon and Patrice on Monday, drove 3000 km to Moose Jaw to visit our son Jeremy and grandson Gabriel.

Happiness!

Monday June 27, 2016

Gabriel and Dylan taking a ride in a car.
This morning, we are at the "Western Development Museum" in Moose Jaw with everyone, but Michele.

After the museum, we are back home and playing in the park.

Gabriel taking a good nap.

When Gabriel woke up, I was just about finished washing the MH.  Gabriel gave me a hand to finish up.

Michelle and Dylan arrived shortly after we were done with the MH.  We spent the afternoon having water gun fights in the backyard.

We laughed a lot.

Tuesday June 28, 2016

Another warm and humid day.
Gabriel with the cat, they are babysitting the cat for a few weeks.

We had more water gun fights this afternoon.

"You can't see me!"

After a very good time, we emptied the pool and we fill it again with clean water for tomorrow.

Wednesday June 29, 2016

A few days back, Michelle and Dylan invited us to join them at the splash park in Moose Jaw.
We are there at 10 am sharp!

Nicole, who babysits Gabriel during the week, was there with her three kids and of course, Michelle and Dylan too.

The kids had a lot of fun.

In the afternoon, we had a hail storm for about 10 minutes.

Here is a video to show you the noise it was making.  Click here to view the video.

I know that almost at the same time they also had a hail storm in Montreal, weird.
Some photo of the hail.

Look at the size of the hail.

This is what I saw when I got on top of the MH.
The top arrow indicate the skylight for the shower.
The bottom arrow indicates the quarter-round between the wall and the roof.

The quarter-round is all dented, but no holes in it.  The skylight for the shower is cracked.

Michele and I discussed the damaged we have on the MH.  We both came to the same conclusion, if we claim it to our insurance, they will pay and we are sure our premium will go up shortly after that.  We will end up paying no matter what.
So, we will leave the quarter-round like it is, you cannot see from the ground.  We will just just apply a sealant on the cracked skylight.  For now, I will just apply some tape to prevent water from getting in.

Gabriel is having another movie night with Grand-maman in the MH!

It was a good day even with the hail...

Thursday June 30, 2016

We are getting ready to go camping this morning.
We are going to the campground in Wakamow Valley in Moose Jaw.
Gabriel only weights 30 pounds, how come we have to bring 100 pounds of "stuff" for him?

This is our site and we only have two services, water and electricity.

Gabriel is playing while I am cooking supper.

We had a good meal, chicken wrapped in bacon.  Gabriel loves mushroom.

After such a good meal, time for a walk around the campground.
A bear!

How come there are two Gabriel and two Michele?

At the MH, it is time for a good movie.

It was warm, but we had a lot of fun.

Until next time.

Life is good...
