Saturday April 16, 2016

One more stay at home for us.
After coming back from Walmart with all the ingredients for a soup, Michele is hard at work.

While Michele is cooking, I start to pack the stuff for our travel tomorrow.

The site we are on is very small.
On the first photo, we are on the left and on the right photo, we are on the right.  Pretty close isn't it!

It was a warmer day today.
Our destination for tomorrow?
We are not sure yet.  All we know so far is that we are taking highway 17 north and driving by Myrtle Beach.

Sunday April 17, 2016

We leave the campground at around 8:15.

We have to drive through Charleston and use the Ravenel Bridge.
The wind is blowing at 25 km/h from the side and front of the MH.
Not an easy drive on the bridge.

What a name for a boulevard!

This is the type of road we are using today, great!

We drove right through Myrtle Beach.

Before and after Myrtle Beach, there are towns just like Myrtle Beach with lots of attractions and beaches.
Why not have a King Kong on the Empire State Building?

Or a giant lobster?

Or a small plane landing/crashing on a mini golf...

Shortly after Myrtle Beach, we arrived in North Carolina.

By one o'clock we arrive at our new home.

We only traveled 230 km today, not too bad...

After we were installed, we took a  drive to check-out where the beach is located.  The beach is five miles from the RV Park.
Once again, we have to wash the car after it has been towed.

We did not walk on the beach, but we did drive around where the wealthy people have cottages.
This is the first time we see a sign like this one!

I will have photo of the RV Park and our site tomorrow.

The plan for tomorrow is to walk on the beach.

We really enjoyed our time in Charleston and I think we will be back there again in the future.

Monday April 18, 2016

I spoiled myself, after breakfast, I went for a coffee at MacDonald.
It is not the same without you Patrice!

Our RV park is located in the small town of Sunset Beach, North Carolina.

Here is a little tour of our park, the "Wishing Well Familly Campground".
This RV Park is very small, only 12 sites with three services and over 15 sites for tents and tent-trailers.

The RV sites are shaded, so our satellite antenna cannot get a signal.  This means not French TV for us!
On the left, our MH and on the right, the street and MH next to us.

The back street.

The entrance/exit of the park.  They also have a storage area for RVs and boats.  The house on the right is the owner's home.

We are off looking for geocaches and take a walk on the beach.
One of the cache is located next to the "Mannon C. Bridge".
If you look past me opening the cache, you can see a black dot in the water.
It is a dog lying in the river.  What a dog's life!

Another view of the Mannon C. Gore Bridge.

The Beach!

The couple!  Michele on her way to the beach.

A very nice beach, the sand is compact and you can easily walk or bike on the sand.

My pretty Michele.

I do not know how far we walked, but we loved it.
On the first photo, the view looking back where we came from and on the right, a close-up of where we came from.

Back from the beach, we stop at the "Dollard General" store.
What do we see on the road?
Yeap!  A couch in the back of a pick-up truck with a guy having a smoke on it!!!

Back home, we spend the rest of the day reading outside.

Another good day!
This RV Park is nice, but no pool or activities.  At $12 a night, you cannot complain.  This park in a member of the club Passport America.

We had a nice +26°C today.

Tuesday April 19, 2016

Even with the forecast for +28°C today, we still go geocaching.

One of the cache is located behind this half-heart.

It is high tide right now and all the marshes are filled with water.

We are looking for caches in Ocean Isle Beach.

After we found one cache, we walk on the beach to get back to the car.  It is hot, +31°C.

Ocean Isle Beach is a resort town with just a little over 500 souls!

One of the cache is located in the marsh.  We have to use the boardwalk to get to it.  Another one is at the North Carolina museum.

No poor people here!

This is where one of the cache is located.  The cache owner pointed out to us the "need" of an "Exit" sign in this structure!!!
Does it really require an exit sign?

We found 14 caches and only one DNF (did not find).
On top of that we visited a nice resort island.

Michele and I talked about the trip back home to Canada.  We decided to stay here until Sunday.  We do not need to be back in Canada until April 27.

Wednesday April 20, 2016

We are off to the little town of Shallotte for more geocaching.  It is only about 10 km north-east of the park.

One is at the baseball park.

Another one is on this trail

One is right on a busy street behind the big rope.

A little on the warm side, but still a good day.

The arrow points to a small grass snake.

Another good day caching, we found 15 caches and only one DNF.

When we got back to the RV Park, we noticed a site was empty.  We think we could get reception for the satellite here.
In less than 15 minutes we are moved to the "new" site and yes, we got satellite TV now!

Thursday April 21, 2016

We went looking at the three Thrift Shops in Sunset Beach.  That is the extant of our day!

Our new site.

We are enjoying the warm days because we know it will be colder back home.

Friday April 22, 2016

We are heading north to visit a small flea market.  It is empty, just a few vendors.

Next destination, driving south to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Driving on the "touristy" street of North Myrtle Beach.

Michele is looking for Thrift Shops and I am looking for caches.

We had planned to eat Fish & Chips, but between our GPS and us looking for a Fish & Chips place, we could not find one open!
So we had lunch at the "Plantation Pancake House"!

We had the Patty Melt and Phillie Steak Sandwich.  It was good.

We asked the waitress for the location of Thrift Shops.  She loves Thrift Shops, so we got the address of two good place.

After finding caches and shopping, we head back home to North Carolina.

We are planning our route to get back home.

Saturday April 23, 2016

We had a lot of rain last night.
The trailer next to us had a branch fall on the roof.

I wonder how much damages there will be?

Once the branch was removed, the owner inspected the roof and found no damages.  He was lucky.

After lunch, we are back in Shallotte to do laundry.

After we got back, I am off looking for one more cache in Sunset Beach.

The bridge goes over the "Intercoastal Waterway".  It is very busy on this Saturday.

We spend the rest of the day reading and preparing for our departure tomorrow morning.

Sunday April 24, 2016

Time to move north!
Getting the car hooked up to the MH.

Off we go!

There is a large forest fire burning west of us.  We had to drive in some thick smoke a few times.

A funny way to write Belleville!

We had to cross many rivers.

My brother Rolland would have loved to stop here!

We had to stop for gas.
Ah, the things we see!  Apparently He is coming soon!  Since we are stopped, why not have lunch.

Some part of our travel was on small roads.

Our next State is? Virginia.

Our home for the night.

Our site.

The view.

We had a good day traveling today.
We have covered more than 480 km.

Monday April 25, 2016

We left our campground without any issues.
Starting now, we will be driving on the Interstates.
Back on the I-95 northbound.

What a smart idea!  Have the water tower look like an apple basket...
This is probably the major crop for this area.

We must have seen over 100 golf carts go by today.

Goodbye Virginia and hello West Virginia.
We are in West Virginia for 40 km.

Next state is Maryland.  We are in this state for only 20 km.

The second last state before we arrive in Canada, Pennsylvania.
We will be in this state for about 378 km.

We stopped at the information center to get a roadmap.

Shortly after our stop at the information center, we pull off the I-81 in Chambersburg and go to the Walmart.

We have traveled 520 km today.
Usually I remember where we have stopped in the past.
Michele tells me that we have been here before.  I doubt that because I do not remember this Walmart.

While I am taking photos of the MH, Michele takes photos of me in action!

I still do not remember this Walmart.
Later on, I take a look at Google Earth because I put place markers everywhere we have spent the night for the last six years.
What a surprise!  We stopped here for one night on April 19th, 2013!

Bravo Michele!
I still cannot remember this place!!!

Tuesday April 26, 2016

Back on the I-81.
It is very rare that you see a helicopter on a pedestal.

After three and half hours, we enter in New York.

It rained for a little over 20 minutes, but nothing to worry about.

At one of the stop, I talked to a French Canadian going back home too!

We have cloudy skies all day and the temperature is +8°C.  Perfect for traveling.

We arrived in Cortland, NY after driving 435 km.

Here is our home for the night.  The Country Music Park and Campground.  They also have a museum on site, but it is not open yet.

This campground costs us only $14 because it is part of the Passport America club.

They had a lot of rain here.
The view from inside the MH.

The view across the little lake.

Now the view from the other side of the little lake.

I have never seen a 5th wheel from this manufacturer before.
After some research on the web, I found that Space Craft is still in business and very busy.

The office and museum.

The barn where country western shows take place every Saturday evening.

It is not too bad of a campground, $14 US a night we do not complain.  We will have to dump tomorrow morning as all the sites are only two services.
The forecast for tonight?  Cold!

Wednesday April 27, 2016

Yes it was cold last night!
Here is what I saw when I opened the blinds this morning!!!

You have to remember, a RV is not made for cold weather.
Still, we had a nice, warm night.

After a little over two hours of driving, we arrive at the Canadian customs.
The first "Thousand Islands Bridge" and it is in the United States.

The view from the top of the bridge.

Down we go.

We went through the custom in no time at all.

Another view of the Thousand Islands.

The other "Thousand Islands Bridge", but this one is on the Canadian side.

Again, at the top of the bridge.  The Thousand Islands is a very pretty place.

We take the Thousand Islands Parkway until Gananoque where we join the 401 west.
The white stuff you see on the ground is...snow!!!

After a total of four hours on the road, we finally arrive at North Shore RV Park in Carrying Place, Ontario!

We will be here until May 30th.

Thursday April 28, 2016

Now that we are back in Canada, we have a few things to do before the end of the month.

The first stop is at H&R Block to get our income taxes done.  They will be ready tomorrow.

Next, get my prescription moved from Port Colborne to Trenton.

We made a quick stop at "home" to pick up our mail.

We have done everything we could in Trenton, time to go to Belleville for the next stops.
The Trenton Air Base is getting bigger and bigger.

A quick stop at our doctor's office to see if our blood work request is ready.
Not yet!  Our appointment for the results is on May 9th.

Next, we stop at Helix so Michele can pick up her noise masking device for her tinnitus.

Before we go to the bank, we have lunch at the Buffet Garden.

We are in and out of the bank in less than 15 minutes and everything is done.

After I drop off Michele at home, I stop at Workman Auto Repair to get the e-test done on the car.
The e-test is an emission test.  A car needs the e-test done after it is five years old, I think.  It also needs to be done every few years after.
I cannot renew my stickers for the plates if the e-test is not done.

Fifteen minutes later I am at the ServiceOntario office to renew my sticker for my plates.

In less that half an hour I am out with my new sticker for the plates.

It was a busy day and we got a lot accomplished.

Friday April 29, 2016

During the afternoon, we made a quick stop at H&R Block to pick up our income taxes.

I am one to complain when I see someone walking in their PJ.  Michele takes a photo of me doing just that!!!

Another good day.

Saturday April 30, 2016

No photo today!
Michele went grocery shopping and I started to set up for the month we are here.

Until next time.

Life is good...
