We continue our trip back up north to get back to Canada.
Next stop, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Our friends from North Carolina will be coming down to Myrtle Beach.
After a few calls, we will meet at the KOA.

But let's start with our "trip" to Myrtle Beach.
We took the Interstate since we have 700 km to go today.
After Georgia, we hit South Carolina.

What kind of name is that for a Boulevard?

Elvis???

Just before we got to Myrtle Beach, we hear this noise from the motorhome.
We recognize is as the back airbags deflated, just like when we got back from Key West.
Found a parking lot to stop, fix it and on the road again!

Note:  I changed the little rusted out clamp so it should not happen again!
Myrtle Beach, here we come!

Our site at the KOA.
The pieces of wood in front of the motorhome are only there to dry out...

A long driving day today for us.
We will be here for a week if not more...

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Ah! A day at Myrtle Beach...

Tonight, they have an "Unofficial Car Show Drive By" on Ocean Boulevard.
Here are some of the cars...

If you want to see more cars, click here!

Laidback day!
Our friends Pete and June from North Carolina are arriving today.
But first, here I am "working" on the web pages.

Pete et June mentioned they love to go and treat themselves at Crabby Mike's for all you can eat crab legs.
Why not?

What a treat it was!
The photos do not give an impression of what this place looks like!
Very beautiful place!

I have never eaten so many crab legs in my life...This is good!!!

On the way back to the truck, another nice car...

Busy days we've had!

Saturday, March19, 2011

Today, we go for a little walk on the boardwalk in Myrtle Beach with June.
I guess Pete is not a "walker"!

At this time of the year, the water in Myrtle Beach is on the cold side!!!

I cannot remember the last time we had a fire!
So here is our first campfire in a few months with June and Pete.

Now that's camping!

GOLF DAY!
Why would you come to Myrtle Beach at this time of the year if not for GOLF?
OK! So it is mini golf for us!

Let's not spare the expenses!
Two 18 holes back to back!

Very nice "golf" courses!
Michele had to do the scoring???

And as usual, Michele is still the best...

I ended the day with a good book by the fire.
The nights are still cold, on the 5 to 10 C.

Life is good!

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Pete and June were on the way back home yesterday.

Spring is here and let me tell you that the trees are giving off pollen like crazy.
What you see on the car is just from one night only!!!
And it is like this every day!

A little bike ride on the Boardwalk.

The guy with the red cap is me!
Trying to bike on the beach!
It is not working on this beach! On some it does work!!!

Back at our site, a little fire  because this will be our last one for a few days.
Tomorrow we move to another campground a few kilometres away and they do not have fire pits.

Wednesday, Thursday, March 23 and 24, 2011

After a week at the KOA in Myrtle Beach, we move to another campground, still in Myrtle Beach.
Only 5 km to the south... at the Ocean Lakes campground.

This campground is a big resort with a campground and a section with "summer homes".
Here you can see the summer homes.  They are on stilts to protect them from the storms coming from the ocean and flood the area.

In the southern part of the USA, they have lots of fire ants.
So, a little prep of the site is required.
Blow off all the stuff from the pad and then apply a spray of anti-fire ants and life is good!

Our site and a view towards the beach, only 6 sites away...
This is the low season right now so the prices are $35 a night.
In the summer, it is over $65 per night...

In Myrtle Beach, the Atlantic Ocean is on the cool side this time of the year.

A very nice resort.
Very well organized with lots of activities.

A few days ago we went for a nice bike ride in Myrtle Beach but, we got not one but two flat tires.
One on each bike.
Today is fixing flat tires...

Of course, this campground also has a campers bingo.
The kind with the reusable bingo cards.
And the prices were pretty simple, the stuff that would expire soon from the store...
For free!
Our bingo callers!

A few hours at the beach.

Beautifully days...

Friday to Tuesday, March 25 to 29, 2011

Tonight we are going to a show called "Good Vibrations" at the Carolina Opry.
One of the best showplace in Myrtle Beach.

A very good show with lots of very good imitations.

Sunday is a rainy day.
A good day to go to the movies, especially at only $6 before 5 pm...

"The Lincoln Lawyer" was a very good movie.
Don't miss it

No beach today, too windy.
The sand, sky and water are the colour of steel.

Tuesday is another show day.  This one is in the afternoon and only half price for Canadians.
This one is about the music of the 60, 70, and 80s.
But all our photos of the show did not turn out good.

So here is one that turned out very good after the show...

Of both shows we saw, we liked the Good Vibrations at the Carolina Opry the best.

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

On the move again.  Time to change the neighbourhood.
This time we are on our way north to our friend's place in North Carolina.

A last look at the Atlantic Ocean...

The Americans are very proud of the military... The way it should be!
Could Canadian learn from that???

We got to Pete and June's place, but forgot to take photos that evening.

Thursday, March 31 to April 2, 2011

Here we are at our friends, Pete and June, place.
We meet Pete and June in Florida last winter.
Very good people.

We are with them for the next few days.
They have a beautiful home and a small creek.
They are also on the intercoastal Waterway.

Nothing beats a good beer by the water with a good friend.   The view from the house toward the main road.

We had a really good time with Pete and June.

They took us for a visit to a cute small little town.

A little bit of tightening on one bolt and we are done!

Saturday morning, on our way to Washington D.C.

A big thank you to our friends Pete and June.  You took us into your home with open arms and put up with us.
Thanks for everything!

On our way to Washington, we spent the night at a Walmart in Ashland, Virginia.
No problems!

Tomorrow we arrive in Washington D.C.

Until next time.

Life is good...
