1 to 15 January 2011   16 to 31 January 2011

Saturday and Sunday, January 15 and 16 2011

We spent the day reading, biking and having some nice meals.

Our bike ride took us to a mobile home park close to our campground.

I love this mailbox.

Monday thru Wednesday, January 17 to the 19, 2011

Monday turns out to be a rainy day.

Why not got to the movies.  Here, the movie theaters open before lunch and run until late in the evening, 7 days a week.
Also, it costs only $4.00 in the afternoon, WOW!

A few weeks back, I ordered a TV from Walmart.  Well, I actually ordered it from the Walmart web site with the option to "Ship-to-Store".  Free delivery to a store near you.  Cannot go wrong with that and on top of that, they have more stuff online that you cannot get at the store. Tuesday morning, we got a call from Walmart to let us know our TV had arrived. Before lunch, we got our brand new TV, a Viore, LCD 1080 p LED 24 inch for our living room.

Let the demolition begin...

With the old TV out, I had to install plywood to mount the bracket for the TV.

The TV works! The trimming will be installed within the next week or so.  Can't do everything all at once, can I?

When the whole project will be completed, I will show you pictures.

All this work was done in a 90 F temperature...

That evening we went to the campground bingo.  I won 3 times and Michele once. Out of 20 games, our table won 7.
We came out with a big $32.00

After our Wednesday free breakfast at the clubhouse, we played a few games of Bocce Ball.

We spent the afternoon looking for the right trimming for the new TV.  Got lost a few times, even with the GPS. Especially if you do not know the exact name or street where the store is located.  However, we made it and got some nice oak trimming.

A hot day today, so why not spend some time at the pool
The water is at +29 C. The only problem is that by 3 pm the pool area is in the shade and it makes it kind of cold.
But we are not complaining...

Friday, January 21, 2011

Another rainy day.  After breakfast at the clubhouse, we are on our way to Camping World for some RV stuff shopping.
Only one photo today!

We played poker in the evening, Michele won second place and we had a good time.

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Another cool day, +14 C with a wind from the north, not nice outside.
Some more shopping at Walmart. WOW, a case of 24 beer for $13.95, can't beat that!

Back at the campground we went for a walk and saw this little "flag".
It reminded us of one of our friends in Cold Lake, Hello Claudette!

Here is the motorhome in the center of the photo.  Michele cleaning up on the book that we have.

Saturday evening we went to the dance at the clubhouse.  The theme was "hard times".
Here we are with our friends.  Left to right, Keith, Isabelle, Michele, Chrissy, Bill, Dottie and Gerry.
The photo on the right is for the person who won the best costume.

We ended the evening with a drink with our friends Keith and Isabelle.

A very nice evening with friends.

Sunday was a "do nothing" day.

Monday, January 24, 2011

Monday was almost a do-nothing day, but Shuffleboard got in the way.  Half the people were from Newfoundland!

The day ended with some more poker...
Two of our competitors, Chris and Bill.
Michele finished second place again...

Tuesday and Wednesday, January 25 and 26, 2011

Nothing spectacular other then I decided to polish the wheels on the motorhome.
I had bought a polishing kit at the RV show in Tampa, so here we go...

Tuesday, front right wheel...
Two and half hours later, it is shinny.

A lot more work than I expected, but I like the way the wheel looks.

Wednesday...
Rear right wheel...
On the left, you can see the difference between the bottom and the side of the wheel.
The photo on the right is the finished product.

The back wheel required a lot more time.  Note to me: polish more often so you do not spend so long every time on polishing.
I am not looking forward to doing the left-hand side wheel, they are in worst shape the right side!

Thursday to Sunday, January 27 to the 30th, 2011

The warm weather is back. Not much to talk about other than everyday life.  At the campground, we have 3 breakfast a week in the clubhouse, two of them are free.
Friday morning, we also have shuffleboard games.  Here you see Howard, Eunice, Michele and Al.

We needed a little bit of a fat pill, so here we are at a wing place with our friends from the campground. Left to right, myself, Chrissy and Bill from New Work state, Keith and Isabelle from Ontario and Michele taking the picture...
They are really nice people.

One of my many projects is to polish the wheels of the motorhome, remember?
After 4 days, here is the finished product...
Why 4 days? Just because I did one a day, more then one would be like work and I won't let that happen...

The supervisor at work...

I am very happy with the results of the wheels.  I will not let them get as bad as they were.
I will do them again after each second time we move, I hope.

Today, we are on our way to visit an orange and citrus farm. The Mixon Fruit Farms.

On our way to the farm, we must go over Tampa bay.  We take the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
Pretty impressive bridge.

At the farm...

We start the visit with a guided tour of the farm.
A one hour tour, we can't wait to learn all about oranges and citrus.

The first 10 minutes were great. We learn a lot about the trees and what they used to fight frost. Like this diesel stove that was used in the 60s and 70s.

To increase the crops, they graft a different kind of branches so the same tree can grow more than one kind of orange.
This allows more efficient use of the tree and also more crops.
Here we see one tree with different oranges.

More oranges...

No, they are not baby oranges. They are a kind of oranges that does not grow bigger then what you see here.

10 Minutes into the tour we got a surprise.
We stopped in front of some cages and for the next 40 minutes, we learn about animal rescue.  Interesting but this is not what we came here for.

We are very disappointed with the guided tour.  Nothing indicated that we were going to have this lecture about rescued animals.
After the tour, we did the maze and walked into the garden.

The bridge on our way back home.

Regardless of the tour, we had a nice day.

Until next time.

Life is good...
