Last day with our friends Pete and June. We are invited one more
time to have dinner with them. June and I even had time to do
some stuff on the laptop.
Once again, we forgot to take some photos of our meal.
Thank you, Pete and June!
Back to the motorhome, some computer time before bed.
It was a pleasure to see Pete and June again.
Our path will cross again... Safe travels!

Another gray day!
Why not check out the malls in Corpus Christi.
All the way across Mustang Island to Corpus Christi, condos are dotting
the landscape.
This one looks from the 70s.
I mentioned it before, some souvenir stores are quite spectacular.
Once at the mall, we stopped at Sears and it is very busy, but once in
the mall, it is empty. All the stores in the mall are closed.
Even Santa is not busy. Where are the people? Their most
be another mall?
There is another mall. Less than one block away.
This one is full of shoppers. A really crazy house!
On our way back, we see this SUV with pretty fancy hub caps!
One of the nice things about living in a motorhome full time is that
you can only buy so many things before you have to get stuff out of the
motorhome. So, very few purchases today.

About a month and a half ago, I replaced the silicone around the shower
stall. Well, it is leaking again!
One more lesson learned. When you change the silicone around a
shower stall, do not try to make a nice, small and pretty bead of
silicone. With all the movement of the motorhome during driving,
it will "break" and leaks will happen.
The solution, put down a lot of silicone. It may not be as pretty, but
it will not leak again...
They give line dancing classes at the clubhouse today. Michele
and I went and I love it, not as easy as it looks.
A very good and easy day.

The forecast is for cloud cover all day and maybe up to +18. The
wind is from the gulf, but we decided to still take a ride on the beach
with our bikes. Surprise, the sun even showed up later in the
afternoon.
It turns out, we made it to town.
Right next to the entrance channel for the ships going to Corpus
Christi.
The nice thing about biking is you tend to take the back streets and we
get to see more stuff this way.
Lots of fishing along the coast. Sports fishing is a big thing
here.
Lots of people fish from the beach. This truck has a nice "rack" for
fishing rods.
You can even rent bikes with BIG beach tires!
Our lunch was a culinary experience of 2 jumbo dogs with a 32
oz pop for $2.15 taxes included.
You can camp on the beach here on Mustang Island and Port
Aransas. The beach is very hard-packed with fine sand. I
would drive the motorhome on this no problems.
This boy was feeding the birds and he was followed everywhere by them.
The tide is not very big here in the Gulf of Mexico, but the high wind
coming from the gulf sure adds to the tide. Some places the beach
is flooded.
A very nice bike ride, over 20 km covered today.

We met this nice couple at the campground, Nancy and Bob. They
mentioned they were going to a restaurant where you can eat a chicken
steak (all you can eat) for only $2.25. Margaritas for
$1.00. We went with them.
We are taking the ferry again.
Good food, good company, cheap price and we forgot to take photos!
The cost for me and Michele and 6 margaritas, just under $12.00.
Nice fence!
Back to one of our favorite activities, bingo!
Another good day!
Wednesday, December 21, 2011
Back to the ferry and Aransas Pass for more shopping today.
We even saw a dolphin!
Notice the back door of this van!
On our way back in Port Aransas, we decided to take the beach for our
drive back to the campground.
A great heron.
Very few people on the beach when the temperature is only +13 C, wind
and clouds.
Nancy and Bob told us about another restaurant where they have an "all
you can eat" shrimps diner for only $12.00.
Off we got to the Moby Dick.
Really nice atmosphere and of course, a photo with our friends...
Lots of good food for a very good price.
What a week.

We decorated our motorhome a
little
for the holidays.
We did not purchase a lot of decoration because we are not very good at
picking the right color for decorations.
Other than the Santa hats, not very successful. Good thing I had
the Santa hats attached by threads because they would have been blown
somewhere
else
by morning.
I finally broke down and bought a basket for my bicycle.
I am not very healthy right now. I do not know if what I have is
a cold of just big allergies.
No energy at all and stuffy nose, not fun. People mentioned that
the red tide is very strong this year and it does affect a lot of
people with strong allergy reactions. I still went for a walk to
the beach. Notice the grader tracks on the sand, they grade the
beach almost every day.
We made it to where Nancy and Bob are fishing. Bob is coming back
from throwing his line in the surf and a blue heron is waiting for an
offering.
Bob said that the waves are a little too strong for surf fishing, but
still.
Here is the cast, and you can see the splash where is bait landed, past
the wave.
Got one, a Kingfish of Whiting as they call it here.
He is still waiting!
This is how far we are from the beach. We just have to go over
the sand dune.
Today has been one of the warmest days since we got here on the 12th.
Saturday, December 24, 2011
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday the campground offers breakfast at
the clubhouse for a really good price.
Even a bird is waiting for his breakfast.
They have nothing organized for the 24th. But they set up the room
for Christmas lunch.
We stayed home for Christmas Eve.
Sunday, December 25, 2011
Michele decided that we should have a gift exchange for Christmas
morning. What a great idea!
So Santa did come last night.
Christmas Lunch!
WOW for only $3.50, we had ham and we only had to bring dessert!
On the right, I am participating in a game.
After lunch, most people left, but a few remained behind to continue
socializing for the rest of the afternoon.
They had so much leftover that you can come back for dinner and get
more ham. WOW, another big meal!
After dinner, the cards came out...
We had a great time today. We had lunch and dinner with two other
couples from Québec.
Everyone at the campground is very nice.
Monday, December 26, 2011
Easy day, off to Corpus Christi for Boxing Day specials. Bought
nothing!
On the way back, we had to stop at this souvenir shop.
Tuesday, December 27, 2011
Bob is fishing today so, I get on the bike and go for a visit.
Nancy is always looking for shells. After a few hours of fishing,
Bob is ready to pack up!
Today is Tuesday and Tuesday is all you can eat chicken-fried steak at
the Big Fisherman for only $2.25.
They can seat 500 peoples here!
On the way back, some dauphins are following us on the ferry. We
even had a gorgeous sunset.
Another great day and the weather is warming up too.
Wednesday, December 28, 2011
While I was having breakfast, I saw Bob leaving for fishing. Hummm!
I get on my bike and go see him again. Close to Bob, there is
Réal, one of the Quebecers who loves fishing too.
Réal is using ghost shrimps for bait. Here, he is showing me his
pump to get the ghost shrimps from the sand.
Sadly, the fishing is good, but the catching is not so good. Only
Réal has one pompano for all the fishing he did.
We went for a bike ride this afternoon. 6 km on the beach.
The first time we see ultralights here.
Wednesday is all you can eat boiled shrimps at Moby Dick.
A great week with a very nice Christmas meal with very nice people and a
lot of stuff done during the week.
Thursday,
December 29, 2011
A warm day today, +22 C.
We decide on a bike ride on the beach for today.
From pirates to nice reflections on the Gulf, I just like the
photos...
Bob is fishing and he is having a good day today.
I am still chasing the ghost shrimps...
Next to the campground, there is this very large pasture with only two
young bulls in it! They are the only ones on the island!
A day we really like, just relaxing!
Friday, December 30, 2011
WOW! Lots of fog today. Humidity is at 100%.
The Gulf is behind the car you see.
Bob is having another good fishing day.
His good buddy is still here...
Saturday, December 31, 2011
More fog today!
So much moisture in the air and with the little wind we have, the
moisture is stopped by the screen on the open window.
What a great day, I got to talk to my Mom on Skype. Here, she is
on my laptop!
For New Year's Eve, the campground has a band and being in Texas, it is
a Country-Western Band.
Pretty good music all night.
Now for $15 each, we got free beer and champagne at midnight.
