Breakfast at A&W before we hit the road again. We should
travel about 800 km today.
Lots of road construction in Ontario.
We only saw one and he was far away!
Thunder Bay is getting some nice roads.
We finally made it to Long Lac.
We will spend two nights with Pearl and Andy.
We talked until 2 am.
Wednesday September 17, 2014
Surprise!
What is that white stuff?
We are on our way to a restaurant with Andy and Pearl.
We always enjoy our visit with Pearl and Andy.
Thursday September 18, 2014
Group photo.
By 7 am, we are back on the road. We even had frost on the car
this morning.
A change in our traveling diet!
Yes this is a sunset, not a sunrise and we are still on the road.
We made it home by 8:30 pm. We have traveled 1200 km today.
It is way too much, but we are home now.
Friday September 19, 2014
A "do nothing" kind of day, but we still had to do some grocery
shopping and check the mail.
We must have some sleep to catch-up to as we slept 12 hours last night.
Saturday September 20, 2014
We got our first electricity bill today. It is from May 1st to
August 29th and we used 1102 kilowatt and the cost after all the taxes
is $25.68, not too bad at all.
The sun is back and we have a nice +26.
Another "do nothing" kind of day.
Well almost, tonight we have a murder mystery/potluck at the club house.
Here we are listening to the "instruction" for the evening.
Some of our "actors".
We even have a race car driver in the cast and the car is included too!
More member of the cast.
The potluck was fabulous!
The entire cast, including the murderer.
We had a lot of fun tonight and the food was excellent.
Sunday September 21, 2014
A laid-back day, laundry, reading and some tv.
Monday and Tuesday September 22 and 23, 2014
Just catching up on minor maintenance and even cut the grass today.
Wednesday September 24, 2014
We are on our way to Toronto for a visit to Michele's sister.
It is always fun to visit Odette, but Onyx and Alix are working late
today.
It turns out we did see Onyx for a few hours before we left.
Thursday September 25, 2014
Another "Do Nothing" day with some serious reading by the fire.
As with every Thursday evening we went to the community hall and had a
few beers with other campers.
And as usual we had a lot of fun.
Friday September 26, 2014
A small clean up of the basement and more reading.
Saturday September 27, 2014
This afternoon we had the "finals" of the Friday night darts. We
have paid $2 every time we played and now the money is used for the
prices.
Before the tournament, I took a photo of the other tournament that
Michele won...
Michele has her name on twice, once for 2012 and once again this
year. She is very happy about her performance...
Sadly I cannot play this year. If you remember a few weeks ago I
hurt my right elbow. I tried, but it was still hurting, actually
a
lot less, but I did not want to damage it just for playing darts.
Some photos of the afternoon.
Michele and her teammate.
The two "Ray's" that looks after the darts every Friday evening and
during tournaments. Thanks guys!
Michele was team 7.
Not the worst, but...
Every team won at least $30.
By late afternoon, we had a parade of the racing cars from the RV park
that will be taking part of the races tomorrow afternoon at Brighton
Speedway.
Two cars for the "Ladies" race. The same cars for the "Enduro"
for the men and the last photo is the 3rd car with the "trailer" behind.
We had a nice afternoon and we can't wait for tomorrow afternoon for
the races.
Sunday September 28, 2014
Get ready because there are a lot of photos of the race...
Brighton Speedway is having an "Eve of Destruction" afternoon.
This event brings a lot of people from all around Ontario and even the
US.
We got at the ticket boot by 11 am and the races do not start until 1
pm. We want to have a good spot.
Here is the track, it is 1/3 of a mile long and it is a dirt track.
The part of the track in front of us is actually strait, but with my
stitching software it gives it a fish eye view.
As you saw earlier the park has 3 cars in different races.
Here they are in the pit.
The first race is on and it is a Ladies race.
Also, there was a qualification race for the buses and one of them
ended up on its roof. Nobody got hurt.
A little pull and it is back on it wheels.
The place was packed.
The "enduro" race had 79 cars and they had to do 100 laps.
This is the line up before the start of the race. Cars were lined
up 3 wide and it started from the left of the photo all they way to the
right.
Do you want accidents? Here they are!
Car are taken out of the track any way you can and the race restarts.
After the 100 laps, only 39 cars were left on the track.
The two cars from the park did not finish the race because they had big
mechanical problems.
Another interesting race is the flag pole race where the cars have to
go around the track one lap and then go around the flag pole once
before the go again around the track...
Kind of hard to see, but one race was the "Gauntlet". This one is a
limousine, which is the "good guys" and it gets chased by 5 race cars
and they are the "bad guys". The bad guys are trying to stop the
good guys anyway they can with their cars.
The bad guys won this one.
The final school buses race took place with 9 buses.
It was a very good race.
The park 3rd car was the one with the tent-trailer behind. They
won the best decorated trailer for the day.
On top of the tent-trailer they had a rocking chair with a
"mother-in-law" strapped to it. Also her sexy laundry was hanging
all around the trailer.
The tent-trailer disconnected from the car so our car did not win the
race.
One of the park car took part of the demolition derby, but did not last
to the end.
We finally got out of the race track by 6:30, but we had a lot of fun
watching all the race and action.
Monday September 29, 2014
What did we do today?
Nothing I think!
Or should I say, the usual, reading, campfire, etc.
Tuesday September 30, 2014
Today, we do have something to write about.
Michele has an appointment with the doctor for a claim to the veterans
affair.
On our way to Belleville, where our doctor is located, we have to cross
the Murray Canal. This time a large boat was on the canal and the
bridge had to be swung. So, we waited for a few minutes for the
boat to pass.
The appointment for Michele went without a hitch and we even got our
flu shot.
After the doctor's appointment we did a little shopping and headed home.
