Our good friends, Jan and Jannie.
Thank you for having us stay over. We will see each other again in a few weeks.
On our way back, we stopped in Quartzsite and the flea market.
Natasha is having a great time in the snow while visiting her grandparents in Regina.
Saturday, February 17, 2024.
Natasha is still having fun in the snow.
We went for a walk at the Arizona Market. It is like a flea market.
Michele finally finished the puzzle everyone hated.
To top it off, two pieces were missing. Michele took it apart and threw it in the garbage.
We are having ribs for supper.
After this good meal, we spent about an hour on the patio.
The temperature has been going up since yesterday. It has been +25 since yesterday. The nights are also getting warmer.
This is great.
Sunday, February 18, 2024.
A nice and warm day.
We joined friends on the patio after supper. We are all French.
As to be expected, we laughed a lot.
Monday and Tuesday, February 19 and 20, 2024
Two laid-back days with the usual activities.
Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
Michele had the idea to paint the plywood before we installed it in the shed. The paint came with the 5th wheel.
I found some used pavers for cheap. I am using them under the gooseneck of the 5th wheel.
When it rains, this area gets flooded. This will raise the area.
First, I added some gravel. Next, I made it somewhat level.
I added some sand on top of the gravel.
The hardest part is to start straight in relation to the 5th wheel.
Almost done!
A few hours after I am done, our friend Jan calls me to see if I can store a large parcel until he returns to Yuma. Sure!
It is a good thing I was done installing the pavers.
We treat ourselves to a burger at the clubhouse.
Thursday, February 22, 2024.
The last photos from Kristin and Natasha's trip visiting John and Audrey.
John was a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officer for over 30
years. They visited the Depot Museum. It is also the training center
for all RCMP officers.
Surprise, John has used this particular car during his career.
We went to a huge yard sale this morning. It started at 7 o'clock.
We found some cushions for two of our patio chairs.
We emptied the shed so we could paint some of the interior walls.
The plywood sheet will go to the back of the shed.
It is amazing the stuff you have in a shed.
The interior is much brighter with the walls painted.
Next, I will have to mount the TV on the plywood.
A little miscalculation on my part. I had to cut a small corner of the plywood so the dresser would fit back in its place.
Everything is back where it belongs.
Every Thursday evening, a Jan Session takes place in the clubhouse.
We went to check it out, but a few minutes later we left. It is not our kind of music.
We have accomplished a lot in the last two days.
Friday, February 23. 2024.
Michele is trying to crochet some bookmarks. The first ones are out of yarn, and the one on the right is smaller yarn.
On our way to the Friday night's dance, we saw the almost full moon.
It was a busy night on the dance floor.
We had a good time.
Saturday, February 24, 2024.
We have a busy day ahead of us.
We start with donuts and coffee at the clubhouse. It is offered by the campground.
Now that the belly is full. We call Éric and Judith to see if they want to come with us to the flea market in Calexico.
Yep, they are coming with us. We are on our way to California.
Calexico is south of El Centro.
We have to go through the agricultural inspection station. Nothing to declare.
We drive by the center of the world. Yep, it is true.
Going through the Algodones Sand dunes.
After one hour and twenty minutes on the road, we are in Calexico.
The name Calexico is a "blend word". It is when two words are blended together like Cal(ifornia) and (M)exico to form Calexico.
We walked the flea market from left to right, top to bottom. But I forgot to take photos.
On our way back, Little Dog found a good spot to relax.
And we are back in Yuma.
Once back at home, we had about one hour to rest. We headed to Howling at the moon.
The band is "The Cassandra Long Band". They are very good.
It is the evening with the most people attending. Howling at the Moon. They estimated the crowd at around 4,000. It is packed.
Our gang.
Dennis is trying to steel Michelle's fireball.
As the sun goes down, it illuminates the mountains.
A view from the back.
More photos of the evening.
As I said, the band was very good.
But the moon did not want to participate. It was supposed to be up a 7:15, but shows up after 8. So howling was not great.
When the band took a break, we went to the campers for a campfire and listened some more to the music.
We were back home early, so I had a propane campfire.
It was a good day.
Sunday, February 25, 2024.
Not much happened today. It is warm (+28°C).
I treat myself to crawfish for lunch.
Monday to Wednesday, February 26 to 28, 2024
It was just a few slow days.
I replaced the caulking around the kitchen sink.
We had line dancing on Tuesday. We also had chair exercises and Bingo in the evening.
Wednesday was uneventful, except for one cloud that came over us. It dumped a lot of rain and was gone 10 minutes later!
Thursday, February 29, 2024.
Today, we are a little busier.
I went to the roof of the trailer and took this photo.
After lunch, we went to the casino for a presentation by the Canadian Snowbird Association (CSA).
We also had a presentation from a Travel Insurance company.
It was very informative. Next fall, I will compare our travel insurance and Medipac for coverage and cost.
We will also join CSA.
On our way back, we saw many old cars on their way to Yuma.
I know they are having a large gathering of classic cars on Saturday
night. They are supposed to have more than 900 cars attending.
