Thursday March 31 to April 2, 2011

Here we are at our friends, Pete and June, place's.
We meet Pete and June in Florida last winter.
Very good people.

We are with them for the next few days.
Here is a medley of photos from our time spent with them.

The have a beautiful home and the small creek.
They are also on the inter coastal Waterway.

Nothing beats a good beer by the water with a good friend.   The view from the house toward the main road.

We had a really good time with Pete and June.

They took us for a visit of a cute small little town.

A little big of tightening on one bolt and we are done!

Saturday morning, on our way to Washington D.C.

A big thank you to our friends Pete and June.  You took us in your home with open arms and put up with us.
Thanks for everything!

On our way to Washington, we spent the night at a Wal-Mart in Ashland, Virginia.
No problems!

Tomorrow we arrive in Washington D.C.

Sunday April 3, 2011

Washington, here we come!

We are staying close to the city center at a National Park Campground..

Nice campground, small sites.
This campground has no services.  It makes no difference for us since we will be away most of the day.
If we have to, we can run the generator until 10 pm.

Tonight we relax for the big days ahead...

Monday to Wednesday, April 4 to 6, 2011

Note, we visited Washington Monday and Wednesday, Tuesday was a very rainy day.  Tuesday was a shopping day.

Monday we hopped on the metro and headed for the Mall.
The Mall is where everything is as far as the monuments, Capitol, White House and museums goes.
Only a 20 minutes ride in the metro to get to the Mall.

This is turning out to be a nice day after all, and getting warmer too.
A nice view of the Washington Monument.  For more information on the Mall, click here.

Once a year, they have what they call the "Blossom Festival".  This is when all the cherry trees are blooming.
Not knowing when this was, we luck in and got here just in time for it.  On Tuesday, it rained all day with strong wind and all the flowers were gone.

The White House from Pennsylvania Avenue.

The White House from the Washington monument.  Lots of security...

So much to see...

When we got to the Mall on Wednesday morning, 15th street and Independence avenue were all blocked???
Who goes by?
President Obama on his way to work at the Capitol.

Visiting one of the many Smithsonian museums.
This one is "American History".  Here, all museums are free!

Of course, a section was all about the First Ladies of the White House.

We ended the day with a visit to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
This is where they print the mighty American dollars.

Very little to see, mostly big printing machines...

For more photos of the day, click here!

Two days is not enough to visit Washington.
We hope to come back and stay for a week of more to have a chance to see more.

Thursday April 7 to Saturday April 16 2011

No problem leaving Washington without a hitch.
For the next few days we will be on Interstates.
Not our first choise of road, but we have to cover lots of ground in the next two days.

On our way we saw lots of floods and even SNOW!
Have not seen snow for a few months, and not missing it either! Brrrrr!

Pennsylvania's roads are just plain terrible... To the point of thinking that Québec's roads are actualy not bad!
What can I say!

Spent the night at a Wal-Mart in Syracuse, NY.
Just before we leave, a small coolant leak!
Nothing a screewdriver can not fix...

The Thousand Islands.

Coming into Canada !
Close to Gananoque.

At this time of the year it is very hard to find a campground since most are closed for the winter.
Rideau Acres in Kingston is open. Nice but a little far from Belleville, about an hour 15 minutes away.

Monday April 11 to Friday April 15 2011

On our way to Frankford, close to Trenton.
Why Frankford? Because it is closer to Michèle's sister, Odette.
And it is the only campground that will take us in the Trenton/Belleville area.
The owner is very nice, He lets us park in front of his garage because the campground itself is too soft for the motorhome.
Good enough for now.

This is a good time to bring you up to date on some of the changes we are making to our life.  No worries, nothing bad.
We will continue our travels.  We just have decided to move our "stuff" from Cold Lake, Alberta to Belleville, Ontario.
This means we have to go back to Cold Lake and get our stuff and drive back here...
More about this later.
