As we leave Pocahontas and the Rockies behind us, we head east to
Edmonton.
We travel the Yellowhead Highway, a beautiful road.
Got to take a photo of the trucks for Rolland.
As I mentioned before, Rolland has a nose for finding old cars.
We drive by a small scrapyard at 100 km/h, and he sees it!
Guess what, we stopped for a few minutes...
Our next stop is the West Edmonton Mall.
For the longest time, this was the biggest mall in North America.
This is a replica of Christopher Columbus' ship, Santa
Maria.
Another view of the ship. Can you see the submarines?
For many years the West Ed had more serviceable submarines than the
Canadian Navy! They only have 3 of them!
Bourbon Street, just like New Orleans.
The wave pool and the Bungee tower.
Water slides.
After the West Ed, we head to our next campground, Elk Island National
Park.
This is the only National Park completely surrounded by a fence.
This park is like an island, a big hill, in the middle of the prairies.
One of the many residents.
After such a hard day.
Our site.
A good day!

Once we leave Elk Island, we aim the motorhome for Cold Lake.
We are not even a few kilometers out of the park that we make our first
stop.
A huge scrapyard with lots of old cars.
Rolland
asked the two girls for "permission" to stop for a few minutes.
They were nice and gave him an hour.
Rolland was like a kid in a candy store, he did not know where to run
first.
After the visit to the scrapyard, our next stop was at the small town
of Brosseau.
This is where Rolland spent his summer in 1968.
This building was where he would stop and purchase his comic books on
Sunday.
From the store, across the river, you can see the church of Brosseau.
A view of the church.
Note:
The river you see is the North Saskatchewan and it takes its source in
the Rockies.
We have seen where this river was born.
This is the church where the whole Boulianne family would attend
service every Sunday.
The farmhouse where Rolland spent the summer with the Boulianne family.
Cold Lake, here we come.
A good day and it was filled with emotion for Rolland.
July 13, 2007
We are staying home today.
It is so warm today, +35 in the shade. Very unusual for Cold Lake.
We cool off anyway we can
My target.
Time to wash off the grime of the last few weeks.
I cannot remember why they were laughing, but it must have been of us.
The motorhome in the backyard.
Another good day.

Rolland wants to visit the Boulianne family. It turns out
Saturday evening is the retirement party of Herman Poulin, the husband
of Brigitte Boulianne. They invited us to attend the party.
This was a perfect time to see all the Boulianne family.
Friend and family were invited.
Herman and
Brigitte.

We were welcomed as if we were family. What a nice group of
people they are.
Rolland had the chance to chat with every ones in the family, he had a
very good time down memory lane.
A very good day for him.
What a day it was. Once back home, we had one last beer and went
to bed.
