An easy day today. Some reading and serious nap time...
Giselle and André came over for supper.
Great time.
Friday December 17, 2010
I had to get up early today!
I had an appointment at U-Haul to
install a trailer hitch on the car. My appointment is at 9 am,
but I got
there at 8:15 am. The employee sees me and take my car
keys. Then
at 9:15 am they came over and told me the hitch is not here yet!
&?%$#@.
This is not starting well!
They gave me a van to use until the car is ready. Later in the
day,
they called and informed me that the hitch will not be here until 4
pm.
I gave the van back and booked another appointment for Monday.
On the bright side of the day!
At our campground, every weekday mornings we play either
shuffleboard or pétanque. You can see me in my red tee-shirt
playing
shuffleboard.
The campers are very easy-going.

A little while back, we decided to do some remodeling in our
motorhome. We wanted to change one of our couches for two
Lazy-Boys kind of chairs. Giselle and André drove us around
furniture stores looking for chairs for our living room. We found
them at the Lazy-Boys store. That evening we had supper with
Giselle and André. Supper was very good, again, and for bonus we
played Mexican Train, a domino game.
Thanks for a great day and
evening André and Giselle!
Sunday December 19, 2010
Having purchase our Lazy-Boys, we now have to remove the couch from the
motorhome. Monday we want to clean/wash the living room
carpet. The couch is very easy to disassemble and move out of the
motorhome.
Thanks to Giselle and André for taking our couch right
away.
Monday December 20, 2010
Another day that starts early.
Back to U-Haul for the second try at the installation of our hitch...
@#&#$%.
They managed to order a hitch for a Pontiac G6 and I have a G5! The
paper work also said G5.
Home I go with another moving van. I use the van to get the
carpet cleaning machine. By mid afternoon I got a call from
U-Haul. They tell me it will take a little longer because they
have to get the hitch from somewhere else.
Do I care where it comes from? Just get the job done!
I am not mad, just frustrated at the incompetence of people. The
American wonder why it is so hard to get out of the recession.
I
think I know why!
Back to cleaning the carpet, no problems with that.
At 3:30 pm I get a call from U-Haul. Our car is ready for pick up
and it has the right hitch! I get the car, but no tips for
anybody
working there. However, I have to say it is a well-done job.
My beautiful van!
The carpet cleaning machine at work.
Tuesday December 21, 2010
Today we decided to have an easy day! Pool time, some serious
reading and a bike ride.
You get to see all kinds of things on a
bike ride, like this super high Jeep!
Wednesday December 22, 2010
Our Lazy-Boys are coming today!
Without the couch for a few days, we found that the Lazy-Boys are
taking lots of room.
We got used to it very fast, a nice change
from the couch to the Lazy-Boys. We are very happy with our
choice.
Another great week relaxing and visiting Giselle and André.
What a life...
Thursday December 23, 2010
Another easy day.
Our new bike rack on the car. Love it!
Our evening was spent at the bingo hall with Giselle and her
friends.
Lots of fun!
Friday December 24, 2010
Our first Christmas Eve south!
André and Giselle invited us for supper, but before supper we drove
around to look at the beautiful houses in Palm Beach.
WOW! So beautiful.
Of course, with the beautiful house comes the beautiful boats...
Here we are pretending we are rich with the boats.
Christmas mass at a church in Palm Beach. Very beautiful
church.
The people are so pretty with all the diamonds. We look a little
poor.
A very nice mass.
Back at Giselle and André's place, we had a very nice supper waiting
for us. After a very good meal, we played Mexican Train, a domino
game.
Thanks Giselle and André for a great day.
Saturday December 25, 2010
Christmas day supper was at the trailer park with Giselle and André and
their friends.
Very good meal and a very well organized evening.
Got to have 50/50's to go along with the dancing.
Ah, love birds!
Merry Christmas to all!
No Christmas evening would be completed without a little story.
First,
let me tell you that the park is for 55 years old and over.
Mostly francophone with a few American living here.
The Christmas
supper is open to all, but the Americans chose not to come...
The park has a rule that all noises will stop at 10:30 pm. Well,
imagine an American decided to call the police on us, a group with the
average age of 70 years old!
Two police car showed up. They were
very embarrassed being there.
Boy did we laugh!
Like the 75
years old will burn some rubber on the way home!
Sunday December 26 to Tuesday December 28, 2010
Days for relaxing and visiting around.
In this part of Florida there are lots of "gated communities".
Mostly for the rich, white people for some reason?
But still very pretty.
One afternoon we took a little bike ride in Palm Beach to check out the
real estate.
Everything is so well maintained...
The Atlantic ocean was actually warm.
One of the many weird trees we have seen in Florida.
Wednesday December 29, 2010
Every weekday morning at the campground, we play either shuffleboard
of
pétanque. Today is shuffleboard.
The other campers are very nice.
Pretty neat to see all the birds on the wires...
My niece is in Fort Lauderdale tonight because she and her boyfriend
are going on a cruise. We meet them at the hotel and went out for
a drink. We had a great time talking with them.
Karole and Mauro, have a good trip.
Thursday December 30, 2010
Even with the cloudy sky and cool weather, we went to the beach today.
The water was nice and the waves were even nicer.
I mentioned this before, but our travel always bring something new to
look at, from the small lizard to the sign on the back of a car...
Friday December 31, 2010
New Years Eve at the trailer park with Giselle and André.
No, no police car tonight. I guess someone had a good talk with
the "individual" to make him understand!
